President-elect Trump offered his complete and total endorsement of Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) on Monday, days before a House vote on Friday to elect a new Speaker.
“Speaker Mike Johnson is a good, hard working, religious man. He will do the right thing, and we will continue to WIN. Mike has my Complete & Total Endorsement. MAGA!” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. Trump’s public endorsement could be key to a win by Johnson, who can only afford a handful of GOP defections and be elected Speaker.

Not the ideal choice. But politics is the art of the possible.

Johnson is not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but a drawn-out fight in the house just to end up with Johnson or someone equally innocuous is not worth it. Go with Johnson and maybe Trump and the MAGA house members can transplant a spine in him.

Johnson better wise up and make darn sure that anything he does will further the Trump agenda and hinder the dimocrats' resistance.

Johnson just proved that he doesn't do the right thing with the CR. Why didn't he make sure a real budget was done to avoid the CR con? Being a religious, hardworking, good man is not the requirement for the job of Speaker. President Trump is wrong a lot too. He represents and leads MAGA; we ARE MAGA!

Trump doesn't care one whit about over-spending. NEVER did in his first term. Get used to this dance for every budget.

President Trump is gambling that Johnson, although a failure as a team captain, can be a successful team player. As Mr. Trump likes to say, "We'll have to see what happens."

The Freedom Caucus should insist on a rule that would allow a vote to remove Johnson, if he does not perform. With that rule in place, the Freedom Caucus would likely vote for Johnson for now.

hopefully DJT will be running Johnson - who has shown himself capable of being rolled royally. we are stuck w/him after the debacle last year - so DJT has apparently come to an understanding w/Johnson.hopefully Johnson can dissuade the usual suspects from their grandstanding so we can get the election certified.

Good move. Might as well endorse the guy, he is going to end up with the job and it makes no sense to anger him by endorsing someone else.
He aint much but he is all we got.

Good! Enough of the Rebooblican circular firing squad. Rebooblicans have until the election of 2026, two years, to clean up the mess that Biden and Pelosi left.... inflation, open border and crime. Will they again miss the opportunity? Get to work!

Somebody has to be Speaker or the election can't be certified.

President Trump continues to make very bad personnel choices. One would have hoped he learned after his first term.
His support will start to walk away quickly this time around. He wasn’t elected for the same mol’. with Musk attacking MAGA now, and with the Castrato McJohnson at the helm of the House, it’s going to be a painful next few months, not boding well for 4 years.

I'm guessing that Trump gave Johnson one of his spare spines that he doesn't need. Johnson is a good guy but this is a new day. Plus, what GOP leader in the recent past had clue how yo handle the Dems, the media and pressure that politics gives? Seems like Trump is the only one.

Agree with #1's comment.
Besides, they have a razor thin margin which does not help get too many things done if you have anyone straying off the path.
You will NOT get any adjustments on spending until you get back to regular order, which Republicans tried to do after 2016. They had a larger Majority and still weren't able to get it accomplished.
We must stop the regular use of CR's and need to ensure emergency funding is just that, one-time emergency use.
