The Second Circuit Court of Appeals has handed down a ruling in President-elect Donald Trump's appeal of the verdict in E. Jean Carroll's defamation/sexual abuse civil suit against him. In a word: No. The court declined to overturn the verdict. A federal appeals court on Monday rejected President-elect Donald Trump's attempt to overturn a jury's verdict last year that found he sexually abused writer E. Jean Carroll in the mid-1990s. The Second U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals decided "Trump has not demonstrated that the district court erred in any of the challenged rulings" and "has not carried his burden

Wasn't this the lawsuit filed after the NY Legislature passed a temporary law covering a specific time period allowing alleged victims of sexual abuse to sue for damages? Were other suits filed against others under this law or just Trump?

So this doofus court, probably full.of Obama and Biden lackeys ruled that the trial, made possible by an unconstitutional "bill of attainer," to harass a specific person within a limited time window, financed by a rabid Trump hater, and full of inconsistencies mostof which came from E. Jean Looneybin's fantasies and a Law & Order SUV episode stands up?

It's difficult for me to believe that the "evidence" - ie e jeanne weenie's testimony that "it for sure happened but I don't remember when so Trump can't prove he was outside of New York on that day" - could support the jury verdict. Then there's the suspension of the statute of limitations, while apparently permissible, sure doesn't seem to comport with Due Process in view of the prejudice it imposes on the defendant's ability to marshal evidence regarding events that happened 30 years ago. I'll have to try to read the opinion to see exactly what evidence supports the jury verdict. It will be a tedious and unpleasant read.

The question of whether or not a woman should go to jail for falsely accusing a man of rape is an appropriate, necessary, legitimate question. Such charges not only cause the victim(s) and family members needless anguish, but may negatively/harmfully impact the lives and careers of the victim(s) and family members. A recent example of false rape charges is the confession by the woman who lied in 2006 about three Duke University lacrosse players raping her. Another woman who accused two Connecticut college football player of raping her in 2016 admitted she made up the story was sentenced to a year in jail for those false rape allegations. In May of this year, a New Delhi, India court sentenced a woman who made a false complaint of rape to four years and five months in jail plus fined “for robbing the man of earning opportunities during the time he was in jail as an undertrial.” In Texas, intentionally filing a false police report is considered a crime (Class B misdemeanor – Texas Penal Code 37.08) and “punishment can be a fine of up to $2,000, jail time of up to 180 days, or a combination. The amount of the fine or jail time may depend on the significance or intent of the false claim.” Although such false accusations constitute anguish, suffering, and needless legal expense to all innocent victim(s), the humiliation to a world-renown individual and family, especially if designed for the purpose of humiliation and destruction, is beyond the pale—beyond basic human decency. The accuser, along with others who may be involved, may succeed and gloat in their successful efforts in this world, but may ultimately be held accountable for their deeds by our Glorious Judge of the universe.

Trump’s first term faced significant challenges from a lack of loyalty and discipline within his ranks. Some of his appointees seemed more focused on securing lucrative book deals filled with sensational claims, while others leaked information at every opportunity. Additionally, some personnel choices were puzzling and likely hindered his ability to govern as effectively as possible. However, it seems the new Trump transition is already taking steps to address these past missteps, setting a more disciplined tone, which is likely going to mean a far more effective and efficient administration this time around.
