Large fossil fuel companies will now have to hand over punitive reparations to help New York fight the effects of “climate change” under a bill signed Thursday by Gov. Kathy Hochul (D). AP reports a state fund for infrastructure projects meant to repair or avoid future damage from climate change has been set up to benefit from the payments.Lawmakers approved the bill earlier this year to force big oil and gas companies to contribute to the cost of repairs after extreme weather events critics attribute directly to fossil fuel companies and their wares. “The Climate Change Superfund Act is now law, and New York has fired a shot that will

Attempted theft by a thief. There is no hope for New York under Gov. Eyebrows. Democrats are going to run the energy business out of New York. Been there before, but I'm never going back. The place is toxic now.

New Yorkers can stand by for unintended consequences. That would include higher prices at the gas pump as more of the tax base flees the state. Of course, they will continue to vote Democrat.

So, maybe oil and gas companies should just pull out or go on strike. How long will the State of New York, the City of New York, and all their business and financial institutions last when Big Energy stops supplying energy? Strike for a week or two. Don’t deliver fuel. Cut off fuel oil to homes. Let the Governor and her cronies take the heat — pun intended — for the lack of global warming in the coldest time of the year.

I wonder if we could convince NY to secede from the Union. We would lose their port and airports, but it might be a good trade. Actually, companies will quietly slip away along with their tax revenue. Between Fat Alvin ginning up meritless indictments against Trump and Daniel Penny and Hochul's incompetence, I don't see why any company or current resident would stay if they can possibly leave.

New York is bankrupt. They just don't admit it. They need more money, and voila, an energy tax. It won't fix anything. Their problems are corruption and incompetence, not climate change. Nothing will change. Too many people in New York vote for this nonsense. New York is terminal. Give it time, and everyone will see the results. Only question is which state dies first. New York isn't the only state run by corrupt incompetent leftists. Don't kid yourself. The problem is all the people who vote for this that want everything for nothing. Isn't NY state guilty of burning fossil fuels to pollute the air and according to them, create "climate change"? They operate trucks, cars, etc that burn gasoline. Operate buildings that burn fuel to heat and cool. Use oil based products to conduct business. I believe they just as guilty as those they desire to fine. Good luck with that.

If this was even possible, California's Gruesome Newsom would have done it years ago! Only a judge can impose a fine and only after a conviction of an actual charged crime while the defendants have a right to defend themselves. None of that happened here. A rogue state legislature and a nut job governor cannot find any entity "guilty" of a trumped up violation and then just impose a fine. If this could be done legally than every red Republican state assembly and governor could also find Liberal organizations caused crime, pollution, etc. and then merely fine said organizations at will.

The Board urged its shareholders to vote against a proposal submitted by the National Center for Public Policy Research that called on Costco to eliminate DEI programs. The group claims that DEI programs are discriminatory and put the company at financial risk. "It's clear that DEI holds litigation, reputational and financial risks to the Company, and therefore financial risks to shareholders," the National Center for Public Policy Research wrote in its letter of support.

The hunters are becoming the hunted. Earlier this month it was reported that Jack Smith’s team of partisan prosecutors are lawyering up as they brace for President Trump. According to Rolling Stone, Jack Smith’s team of prosecutors are also combing through their private and professional communications to make sure they haven’t written anything that can be subpoenaed. Are they deleting evidence of misconduct and anti-Trump bias? Late last month Jack Smith moved to dismiss both federal cases against President Trump as Trump plans to go scorched earth and fire the special counsel’s entire team of prosecutors. Jack Smith asked to dismiss both the January 6 case and classified documents case against President Trump.

Mega holiday winnings. A Mega Millions player in California won the estimated $1.22 billion jackpot Friday night — ending the lottery’s three-month drought of having no grand prize winners. The ticket was sold at a Sunshine Food and Gas station in Cottonwood, located in northern California, 146 miles north of Sacramento.

Michelle Obama recently shared a holiday message on Instagram, lamenting how “difficult” the last few months have been, and how Americans are feeling “anxious” as we head into the New Year. "Happy holidays, everyone!” she began, keeping everything generic and non-Christmasy. “I know it’s been a difficult few months for so many of us — and that folks are feeling a little bit anxious and uncertain.” Umm, says who? The fact is, Michelle Obama’s message of anxiety and uncertainty feels wildly out of touch with the reality many Americans are experiencing. In fact, a recent CBS News/YouGov poll found that 57% of Americans are hopeful

A recent article in the Wall Street Journal by a Jess Bravin reported that attorneys general of many blue states are not going to give up quietly when Donald Trump, as president, begins to honor his election promises, such as the mass deportation of illegals. “A host of blue states are staffing up and building out legal battle plans for Trump’s return trip to the White House.” When Donald Trump will be sending ICE agents to blue sanctuary states to solicit help from local sheriffs and other police forces, the only response he may get is “civil and criminal litigation” from entities such as Maryland’s Federal Litigation Unit.

President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Education, Linda McMahon is sending shockwaves through the ivory towers of American higher education. For years, university presidents and chancellors have enjoyed a largely unchecked reign, overseeing bloated bureaucracies, skyrocketing tuition, and ideological indoctrination masquerading as scholarship. McMahon's appointment and President-Elect Trump’s comments about reforming higher education signals the arrival of long-overdue accountability that I and many others in higher academia have been praying for. McMahon is the former head of the Small Business Administration.
