Large fossil fuel companies will now have to hand over punitive reparations to help New York fight the effects of “climate change” under a bill signed Thursday by Gov. Kathy Hochul (D).
AP reports a state fund for infrastructure projects meant to repair or avoid future damage from climate change has been set up to benefit from the payments.Lawmakers approved the bill earlier this year to force big oil and gas companies to contribute to the cost of repairs after extreme weather events critics attribute directly to fossil fuel companies and their wares.
“The Climate Change Superfund Act is now law, and New York has fired a shot that will

In a groundbreaking legal battle, over 100 January 6 political prisoners have come together to file what is being hailed as the largest lawsuit ever against the Department of Justice.
Officially named the January 6 Restitution and Wrongful Incarceration Lawsuit, this $50 billion class action is spearheaded by Jake Lang, a January 6 prisoner who has been incarcerated for nearly four years. Lang, through his new organization, Federal Watchdog, the Anti-Lawfare Group, is joined by an esteemed team of conservative attorneys, including Steven Metcalf, Anthony Sabatini, Stephanie Lambert, and Jonathan Gross. Together, they aim to expose the injustices faced by January 6 prisoners

Elon Musk is unabashedly pro-legal immigration, and on Christmas of all days, he ignited a firestorm by noting that a dearth of engineering talent in Silicon Valley is holding up progress on some of America's most critical technological projects.
Elon is, of course, an immigrant--one of the most famous African Americans in the world, as are several high-profile entrepreneurs in the tech industry.
To me his observation seemed anodyne, even obvious. America has a huge problem with illegal immigration, and there are plenty of indications that the H1B visa process is broken and needs to be fixed. But it is also true that America has been

Six months ago, I was asked my opinion of the Silicon Valley alignment with MAGA. I said at the time I thought it would last around 18 months and finally climax with a large fracture in the political movement around 2026. I had no idea at the time, the group of technocrats would begin publicly advocating for replacing American workers before Trump took office.
For the past several days I have watched Vivek Ramaswamy, David Sacks, Elon Musk and his big tech influencers debating with their followers about the importance for them to continue expanding H-1b visas for foreign tech workers.

2024 was a good year for proponents of a universal basic income (UBI). Following the 2019 experiment in Stockton, UBI pilot programs are underway across cities in California including Fresno and Sacramento. This is unfortunate.
Advocates such as former Stockton Mayor Michael Tubbs argue that “we need a social safety net that goes beyond conditional benefits tied to employment, works for everyone and begins to address the call for racial and economic justice through a guaranteed income”. A UBI allegedly fills this gap by providing income security, encouraging work, and improving low-income families’ quality of life.

Homelessness in the U.S. jumped 18.1% this year, hitting a record level, with the dramatic rise driven mostly by a lack of affordable housing as well as devastating natural disasters and a surge of migrants in some regions of the country, federal officials said Friday.
More than 770,000 people were counted as homeless in federally required tallies taken across the country during a single night in January 2024, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development said in its new report. The estimate likely undercounts the number of unhoused people given that it doesn't include people staying with friends or

We're counting down the days until Joe Biden and his wife/handler Jill finally have to leave the White House.
But they seem to be intent upon milking every last bit they can before they are out the door. He's no longer "working" after January 20, but how much has he actually "worked" since the election? His time seems to have been full of vacation. There's his time in Delaware, plus he also took his regular trip to Nantucket over Thanksgiving. Jill snuck in a trip to Italy and France earlier this month. Joe is planning on visiting the Pope next month before he leaves.

Lee Harvey Oswald was being led down a corridor at Dallas police headquarters on the evening of November 22, 1963, when he uttered perhaps the most fateful phrase in the history of conspiracy theories.
‘I’m just a patsy!’ he screamed at reporters demanding to know whether he’d shot dead President John F Kennedy earlier that day in Dealey Plaza.
Two days later, Oswald was himself shot dead by nightclub owner Jack Ruby in a moment captured live on television. He could never reveal whose ‘patsy’ he’d been – but there’s been no shortage of suggestions.

A judge ruled that the Georgia State Senate can subpoena Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis for testimony and documents related to its investigation into misconduct during her witch hunt of Donald Trump.
Fulton County Superior Court Judge Shukura Ingram ruled Fani Willis has until January 13 to respond to her order over whether the state committee’s subpoenas seek overly broad information.

Greta Thunberg, once the darling of the climate change movement, has revealed herself as virulently anti-Israel, which should make her a pariah in any legitimate social or political cause. Since the October 2023 Hamas slaughter of Israeli civilians, including children and infants, Thunberg, now 21 years old, has called for “crushing Zionism” and repeatedly accused Israel of “genocide.”
Her latest episode of malevolence was on display earlier this month in Mannheim, Germany, when she publicly cursed out the nations of Israel and Germany. She targeted the German government with public profanity over its support for the Jewish state.

The State Department’s controversial Global Engagement Center (GEC) shut down this week after congressional lawmakers nixed reauthorizing the agency in spending legislation to keep the government open.
“The Global Engagement Center closed on December 23, 2024,” read a message on the agency’s website.
The GEC came under fire from House Republicans after journalist Matt Taibbi uncovered evidence that it pressured US social media platforms early in the COVID-19 pandemic to censor Americans online, purportedly to counter “disinformation,” such as theories that the virus leaked out of a laboratory in China.

Spy chiefs “silenced” researchers in the Defense Department and FBI who discovered strong evidence that COVID-19 most likely leaked from a Chinese lab, The Post has learned.
As a result, their findings were kept out of an August 2021 report to President Biden on the origins of the global pandemic.
That report concluded that the virus behind COVID “was probably not genetically engineered.”
