This is what's known as the "other shoe dropping."
Matt Gaetz had hoped to avoid public disclosure of the results of the House Ethics Committee investigation into numerous allegations of corruption and wrongdoing. His successful attack on Kevin McCarthy's Speakership came in part because McCarthy refused to quash the probe. Gaetz clearly intended to use the strange sequence this past month where Gaetz resigned his office just after winning another House term in order to force the committee to seal the results. Instead, the Ethics Committee voted to publish its final report on Gaetz. Before they could do that, though, it leaked to a number of news outlets this morning

This is a political smear campaign, not a legit investigation.

Must not be "substantial" or Gaetz would be charged. This is nothing more than the McCarthy and club revenge for Gaetz getting rid of McCarthy, something meritorious and for which I will forever be grateful. I hope Gaetz gets back in somewhere to continue the fight against the Democrats and Rino's. With Matt Gaetz gone, we have nobody that will stand against Mike Johnson, who gets more Democrat votes than Republicans, which is why the Democrats will vote to keep Mike Johnson, as he gives the Democrats everything Jefferies and Schumer want.

"Gaetz clearly intended to use the strange sequence this past month where Gaetz resigned his office just after winning another House term in order to force the committee to seal the results."
And THIS was clearly intended to make readers believe that statement to be factual instead of speculative. Don't you just love those mind-reading journalists.. I thought the evidence more-strongly implied wrongdoing in Clinton's visit to Epstein / Maxwell; but the reporting seemed loath even to suggest possible motives. More partisan double-standards...

They're calling Gaetz's bluff. He has to tell everything on all the miscreants in congress.

Clearly not enough fire to bring him up on criminal charges, but also obviously enough smoke to be able to use it to use as a tool of revenge against a loose cannon who brought down a House Speaker.

Johnson said he would not release the report on Gaetz because it is against house rules to release reports on non congressionals Johnson said in June in December he would give congress ample time to read bills before voting….Johnson is less than truthful…..

Interesting that the FBI", an organization that is not friendly to Gaetz, found that the "witnesses" the "ethics" committee relied on for their conclusions were not credible and that their stories did not addup. Yet, this political group sees them as credible. As much as I distrust the FBI, I will take their word over that of a bunch of Democrats and Rinos. I hope Gaetz or other Republicans follow through and expose how much, and on behalf of whom our taxpayer dollars have been spent to settle the same kind of claims against current and former congressmen. The Democrats will likely not like it, nor will some sainted Rinos.

I think this is a Smear by those who hate Matt for being so close to Trump. I read the whole thing and there wasn't anything that said he was prosecuted for whatever he did. Speculation shouldn't be enough to kill a young man's future work. But it did! I'm not saying that Young Matt, who is a good looking guy with a lot of Daddy's money to spend, didn't get in pretty deep when he partied. He probably did. But, it takes Two to Tangle and those Cuties were more than ready to Play, and then get paid for it besides! I don't think, even now that he is more mature, he was ready to be Attorney General! I do think even the thought of him being chosen put this smear into motion. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a few people, involved in putting out this Smear, being sued for Defamation! A Pox on those kind of sneaky, Sleezy people.

Should not reasonable, fair-minded patriots simply discount all this filthy gossip UNTIL these so-called victims come out fully, press charges and the entire thing be held in a public court of law? Of course, nobody will do that because discovery would entail proving lying lies are LIES
It is UN-American to the max to have Gaetz tried and convicted like this.

Matt Gaetz should sue for damages just as President Trump sued and won $15 million for saying "rape" when it wasn't.

For anyone who mildly follows this stuff, this is more evidence that there is absolutely a uniparty that wishes to rule us. "Oh, the details leaked" should be followed by a lengthy jail term. An individual is targeted and investigated with no input or defense council by a political organization that should be a trusted entity, but is really just another government agency abusing the power that WE THE PEOPLE bestow upon them. Gaetz's story is a complex one, but that does not merit the powerful forces of Kevin McCarthy extracting revenge.

Maybe the details need to 'leak' on ALL the hush payments made for Congressman over the years in that sealed report!
Matt might know someone in the media who could do that ... oh wait, he;s in the media now.
Politics ain't beanbag. And I believe DJT has learned the hard way, who stands where and what he needs to do. Matt will be a part of that

So let's hope Matt decides to enter the next Congress and release all the dirt on the recipients of the "sluc\sh fund" for sexual harssment complaints! The utter stupidity of the republicans who decided to do this goes beyond what even I, jaded sould that I am have come to expect.

That awful congresswoman from PA, Susan Wilde (who just lost re-election) is, I read on this site, the leaker.
Gaetz should sue her, as he is a private citizen now.

This is just another example of the 'Rats and their Politics of Personal Destruction.
Ever notice how EVERY person that they really don't like gets dragged through a Media Sex Scandal?
-They did it to Clarence Thomas,
-They did it to Brett Kavanaugh,
-They did it to Trump- several times,
-They tried to do it to law Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz -when Dershowitz 'stepped off the 'Rat plantation' and made comments that defended Trump.
-Heck, they even did it to a fellow 'Rat, NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo, I think to 'dirty him up' so that he would not run for President in the 'Rat primaries.
-They did it to Madison Cawthorn,
-They did it to Pete Hegseth.....
Isn't it odd that None of the Leftist Rats get dragged through the mud?
Not Leftist 'Rat Barney Frank, who was running a homosexual whorehouse out of his 'shared' residence in DeeCee,
Not even that pervert guy working in the Atomic Energy department that ran around in high heels and red women's dresses. They Finally had to let him go when he was caught -not the first time- stealing some lady's luggage and then wearing her custom dresses that she had designed herself!
The 'Rat media even did their best to ignore the HornDog humping the female summer help in the Oval Office, back in the day!
This is what the 'Rats DO. It's their Number ONE Go-To Tactic.... and the 'Rat Media gleefully piles on, knowing that Sex Sells, as it appeals to the prurient interest of the lowest level of human filth, and it is extremely emotionally hurtful to any decent man.
I understand that there is a Congressional 'Slush Fund' to pay off women who threaten to file sex-related charges against CongressCritters. Let's see what payments were made, and on the behalf of Which Critters!
Let's see some NAMES!
