Hundreds of students at Madison High School marched to the state Capitol on Friday to demand an “assault weapons” ban after the December 16, 2024, Abundant Life Christian School handgun attack. The Cap Times reported the students chanted “books, not bullets” and “no more silence, end gun violence.” The Wisconsin Examiner quoted the high schoolers saying, “Graduations not funerals.” Once at the Capitol, the students called for an “assault weapons” ban and enhanced background checks. The students did not mention that the alleged 15-year-old shooter did not use a firearm categorized as an “assault weapon”

Could high school students get any more ignorant? Chew on that headline for a second.

Pornhub said it does not want minors accessing its site, but believes the law puts 'everybody's privacy at risk.'

There has been a development in the Ukraine war - that is, if you trust the source: North Korean troops have been killed fighting Ukrainian forces in Russia's Kursk border region, the US has said. These would be the first reported casualties since it emerged in October that North Korea had sent around 10,000 troops to reinforce Russia's war effort. Ukraine's military intelligence agency, the GUR, has also said at least 30 North Korean troops had been killed or wounded in fighting over the weekend.[snip] Independently verifying US claims is a tricky business, at least for the next month or so.

President Biden on Monday commuted the sentences of 37 of 40 men on federal death row — a list that includes at least five child killers and several mass murderers — in a stunning act of clemency just two days before Christmas. Biden, 82, gave the reprieve to the nation’s most violent murderers — nine of whom were found too dangerous to live after butchering fellow inmates — as part of his effort at “ensuring a fair and effective justice system,” the White House said.

Someone acting for the president just made a decision that only a president can make and commuted the sentences of 37 of the 40 murderers on federal death row out of a sense of someone's moral imperative. The Office of the President of the United States of America announced the commutations early Monday morning of Christmas week. A statement issued by the White House said the president was "guided by my conscience" to commute the death penalties for some of the worst of the worst offenders in America. Matt Gaetz had hoped to avoid public disclosure of the results of the House Ethics Committee investigation into numerous allegations of corruption and wrongdoing.
