The US Homeland Security secretary has said states need the power to shoot down drones following criticisms of the government’s response to sightings across the East Coast. Alejandro Mayorkas made the comments after state officials in New York and New Jersey said that Joe Biden’s administration had failed to get a grip on the issue. [Snip] State and local law enforcement agencies do not have the power to counter drone technology. Only a select number of agencies under the Department of Homeland Security, such as the US Secret Service, are authorized to take action.

So is that the game?
They put up a drone cloud to create the justification
to create the authority to shoot down any private drone they want?

Who decides what to shoot at and can give the order to shoot? Who is responsible for property damage if a legitimate drone is shot down by mistake? Who is responsible for damage caused by shooting down the drone? What if someone shoots down a government drone? What if one state shoots down a drone in another state? What if a kid gets killed by a shot down drone or the shooting of it? What if shooting the drone releases nerve gas or a bio-weapon? Why not just call a ban on ALL drone flying by ANYONE, including the gov't? That way any drone flying will be illegitimate and can be shot by anyone.

Doesn't the USAF have the authority to challenge anything that infiltrates US airspace???

Fine with me if every drone in America gets shot down. Invasion of privacy at a minimum; public safety hazard at its worst.

Didn’t the same guy say a few days ago that the Feds don’t have authority to shoot down the drones? Apparently his position is that neither the Feds nor the States have authority to control the skys over our country. He also claims he can’t enforce our land borders. Hmmm!

Something sounds fishy about that comment and almost sounds like a set-up by the Feds.

The Secret Service?(the bumbling Keystone Cops). They'll shoot a civilian and blame it on lack of "woke" training. Or the upcoming DJT administration.
Acting Director Ronald L. Rowe Jr. is a Deep State Deep Swamp creature.

Give states the power to protect their sovereign borders. The federal government, under Mayorkas, has failed to get a grip on it.

My guess is that the ones that fly high enough and are big enough to be noticed do not belong to your neighborhood kids. States need to be able to shoot down the big ones. They could be weaponized for all we know. They could be the next 9/11-style attack.

No doubt DHS has the authority and the hardware to shoot down anything they want. Mayorkas is likely calling for the authority to be handed off to the states, probably knowing full well Congress will not move on it. It's all sleight of hand.

Nothing can be done until the start of 'Drone Hunting Season'.
The affected states have not established the dates for 'Drone Hunting Season'.
Guidelines will have to be established for hunters safety (reflective vests etc).

#13 is correct. We are being played for fools by our government telling us it's just normal aircraft and drones. If so, why are then over military and restricted airspace?
My big question is, if there is "nothing to see here" then why did hundreds show up almost at once? They weren't there before. They are either ours, our enemies or from another planet or galaxy. Three answers. Pick only one.

Let alone damage due to falling debris from a direct hit, any ballistic projectile fired into the air has to.come down somewhere. Ask those Honolulu residents who were around, the morning of December 7th.

Three comments:
1.) Mayorkas is lying. That's what he does.
2.) No need to shoot these down.
Follow them to their launch/landing sites and find out who is operating them. An 'AWACS' plane, and I think all the military combat planes, have excellent tracking radars and can easily follow the drones 'home'. The combat aircraft can take turns tracking them if flight time (fuel) endurance is a problem.
3.) This is an obvious Media Distraction project. If it was 1960 they would be called 'Flying Saucers'! The drone operators WANT them to be seen- otherwise they would turn off the lights on the drones- and the Lamestream Media is joyfully playing along, as they are helping their 'Rat buddies and making money while doing it.
What evil schemes the Lame-Duck Democ'RATS are executing while the 'Drone Scare' is chasing everything else off the front pages.... THAT's what I want to know!

We have the power. Problem is that the people who shoot down a drone will be in more trouble than those who fly drones over military bases and airports.
