Time magazine has seriously rattled cages with its annual selection of honors for 2024, and one WNBA owner isn’t down with the pick of superstar rookie Caitlin Clark as the publication’s “Athlete of the Year,” whining that it could lead to racism.
On Friday, Washington Mystics owner Sheila Johnson went on CNN to protest Clark’s recognition as the face of a league filled with surly black lesbians that few cared about until the college wunderkind arrived on the scene, drawing national attention to the WNBA and packing venues when her Indiana Fever was the visiting team.

Anything can be racist to some. Dogs, cats, coffee, donuts.........just pick something, I'm sure someone will take offense and cry racist.

I'm casually (as I really could not care less about basketball in general and the WNBA in particular) waiting for the WNBA pay to become enough to attract ex-3rd-rate male college basketball players to show up and insist that they have transitioned and demand to be considered 'female' and demand positions on the WNBA teams. Let's see how 'inclusive' the L's of the LGBTQ crowd will be when that happens!
Oh, and grab some Popcorn! There's gonna be some Squallin' for sure!

I don’t know anything about Sheila Jackson, including what race she would be. Is she a “surly black lesbian?”

It’s basketball. Whoever puts the ball into the basket and draws fans to the game is the most impactful. It may be someone else next year. But shut up about racism.

IOW, only blacks can play basketball. That's not only racism, it's utter stupidity.

Don't worry folks. Caitlin won't be around much longer. The "surly black lesbians" will physically put her out of the game permanently so they can regain the failure they so desperately crave...and deserve.

Are the women in the WNBA trying to turn off the potential audience of the WNBA with their continued stupid woke comments about Caitlyn Clark, racism, and how unfair it is that she gets media attention. If other players had the audience draw and skill that Clark has, they might garner the same attention. They don't. They are all viewd as angry black lesbians jealous of Clark. Their reactions are reinforcing this.

Invite racism? It’ll simply point out all the racists. This woman ‘earned’ her place in the spotlight. To give it to anyone else, a woman of color, just for that reason, would be racism.

Sheila Johnson's team the Washington Mystics is one of the worst teams in the league. Perhaps she should devote more attention to recruiting better players and winning a few more games.

I never watched WNBA, for that matter I never watched NBA, but I have been watching since Caitlin appeared.
She has been attacked by the racist lesbians over and over and she has shown courage as well as expertise. To get on the floor without support from the referee's and to face these attack takes courage.
I have read stories of her going to Europe to play and yet I see them still using her as a player hee in America.
Does she still play for the Fever or not?

I am reminded- once again, of a quote, many years ago, by a very wise man:
"There is another class of coloured people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs — partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs."

Clarke put the WNBA on the map, and set the sport on ite, and the League STILL loses 40 million dollars a year.
It won't be around much longer.

FTA: “It’s the way media plays out race,” she said. “I feel really bad, because I’ve seen so many players of color that are equally as talented, and they never got the recognition they should have.”....................
and yet, A'ja Wilson has been named MVP of the WNBA 3 of the past 5 years.
it's noteworthy that sports has always been devoid of any quota/diversity standards. it's always been the Best players get on the team and play; everybody understands and accepts that; not like in the downtown office building where diversity/quota system always seems to be employed to get a job.

#17: The NBA supports the WNBA, which has been losing money every year it started in 1996. I can't understand why the players of color in the WNBA can't appreciate and embrace Caitlin, regardless of her skin color. Caitlin herself came out with the "white privilege" statement the other day to (hopefully) reduce the amount of hard non-called fouls she has to put up with each game.
BTW, I can't count how many hours I've spent riding in a C-141, or the hours waiting for a broken jet to get fixed! I'm guessing you have many, many more hours at that than I do.

In a choice between Caitlin Clark and a cadre of lesbian hos with four-inch nails, easy choice.
Except Caitlin caved and groveled. The WNBA will remain a joke and a sideshow.
