Luigi Mangione, who is accused of shooting and killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, fought extradition to New York during a hearing in a Pennsylvania court on Dec. 10. During the hearing, Mangione was denied bail—something he has 14 days to challenge—while prosecutors raised concerns about him being a flight risk. Mangione’s attorney, Thomas Dickey, said his client wanted a hearing on extradition. He also questioned whether a second-degree murder charge from New York might be eligible for bail.

Is extradition even a thing anymore? Give the guy a virtual preliminary hearing - use Teams, Citrix or any of a dozen streaming apps. Bring the New York legal system to him via technology. Try him where he sits now. NY could even pay PA to house him in their department of corrections. Who needs extradition - he can get a fair trial via a streaming app - heck his attorneys could appear in the Manhattan court room and he can stay in Altoona.

What I find interesting is the appearance of no family support. Guilty or not you would think someone would be there for him? I certainly don't know everything and they could be working behind the scenes. First degree murder. Totally planned and executed. And the fact that anyone thinks it was okay to shot this man in the back is disheartening.

You shoot a man in cold blood in the back and it's 2nd degree.? You save a subway car full of people by holding a crazy man and that's 2nd.degree. WTH is going on with New York's Justice system ?

I’m not positive about this, but I think a charge of first degree murder is limited to the killing of a law enforcement officer. (And so second degree murder is basically first degree murder but of anyone else).

His lawyer knows that the family has deep pockets. His client is going to jail for the rest of his life, but there are millions to be made before and after that happens. Fight extradition, fight no bail, fight the shape of the table in the courtroom.

President Joe Biden announced on Thursday that he was granting 39 pardons and 1,499 commutations in what his administation called the “largest single-day grant of clemency in modern history.” But it’s not Thursday’s set of commutations that have caught the attention of concerned Americans — it’s those that were quietly given weeks ago to Chinese spies. X user Nick Sortor posted that “Joe Biden just pardoned multiple Chinese spies and an individual convicted of possessing child p*rnography. WHY?”

Sen. Roger Marshall, R-Kan., introduced legislation on Wednesday that would federally ban mutilating transgender procedures for children and punish so-called “physicians” who perform such procedures. The legislation would block doctors from being able to prescribe or administer puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones, as well as perform mutilating transgender surgeries like mastectomies. The Safeguarding the Overall Protection of Minors (STOP) Act would allow the Department of Health and Human Services to place a minimum $100,000 fine on doctors who do not follow the law.

20 Republican senators are up for re-election in 2026. It is time to shake some of them up because they have forgotten for whom they work. The Republican leadership allowed party senators (the caucus) to vote to impeach Trump in 2021. Seven did. While some of the names in leadership have changed the attitude remains the same as many Republican senators try to block Trump’s appointees to the Cabinet. Given that most Republican senators represent one of the 31 states that went for Trump, that is a big FU to the voters.

The report also reveals Byrd's long history of professional misconduct. Naturally, after a House Oversight subcommittee requested more information, the USCP claimed it could not find any records associated with the officer's disciplinary record.
