According to Reuters, “Syrian rebels announced they gained full control over the key city of Homs early on Sunday after only a day of fighting, leaving President Bashar al-Assad’s 24-year rule dangling by a thread as insurgents marched on the capital, Damascus.” Responding to the situation on the ground, President Elect Donald Trump says we should stay out of it. Meanwhile a joint statement was released from officials from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Iraq, Iran, Turkey and Russia after an emergency meeting in Doha.

Better be careful on this one. At least the rebel leader, for now, isn't spouting anti-Israel b.s. Of course, the IDF said "stay in your own country," but Trump is right. Now, pull out the 900 or so troops we have there.

Sir, you may not have any choice. Time will tell. I wonder if Assad regime ever shared intel with the US. We had some common enemies. Are these rebels ISIS under another name? They may already be at war with us. Just no formal declaration.

Mrs. Biden did us proud, and looked very much in keeping with the occasion. First time in months I saw her smile. Lara Trump said she “would 100% consider” replacing Florida Sen. Marco Rubio — who her father-in-law, President-elect Donald Trump, has nominated as his secretary of state — as she announced she is resigning as co-chair of the Republican National Committee. “It is something I would seriously consider,” Lara Trump, 42, told The Associated Press in an interview published Sunday. “If I’m being completely transparent, I don’t know exactly what that would look like. And I certainly want to get all of the information possible if that is something that’s real for me. But yeah, I would 100% consider it.”

As far as Hamas leaders are concerned, the involvement of Iran's other proxies in the Jihad against Israel has been insufficient. Hamas leaders were hoping to see Arab and Muslim armies march on Israel and fulfill their dream of replacing it with a jihadist terror state. They are also aware that Iran wants to use them to expand its control over the Middle East. Iran already occupies three Arab countries – Iraq, Lebanon and Yemen, and until last week, Syria as well – and has brought nothing but death and destruction to the people there.

It’s not easy, because Lavrov has such poised, stable understanding of politics and international law. And he expressed this, not in his native Russian, but in English. He also displayed a level of respect for international power relations, and for America itself, that may leave many wondering which current government is more “American.” As a Russian speaker, and someone who worked in Russia, this is not surprising: The Russian people admire America, and they generally love, and have always yearned for, all things American. There’s no doubt that Russia’s current government puts Russia first. That is their job.

The Syrian government collapsed early Sunday, falling to a lightning rebel offensive that seized control of the capital of Damascus and sent crowds into the streets to celebrate the end of the Assad family’s 50 years of iron rule. Syrian state television aired a video statement by a group of men saying that President Bashar Assad had been overthrown and all prisoners had been set free. The man who read the statement said the opposition group, known as the Operations Room to Conquer Damascus, called on all rebel fighters and citizens to preserve the institutions of “the free Syrian state.”

Eighty-three years after the disastrous sneak attack on Pearl Harbor which galvanized our nation to prepare for a long fight and ultimate victory, we have a clearer picture of how Barack Obama (and through him, President Biden) destroyed his party and with it many of our institutions. We now have a leader and a plan to restore their strength. Much has been written about why the Democrats suffered such a devastating loss in the election, but I’m inclined to place great weight on the views expressed by Adam Mill in Chronicles Magazine who argues persuasively that the Democrats’ decision-making process doomed their chances, a process unlikely to soon change.

Is it that hard to deliver small trailers for survivors of a monstrous hurricane? Well, to FEMA, Joe Biden's emergency management agency it is. Here are the sorry leavings: Investigative reporter James O'Keefe said there was remarkably little done in hurricane-ravaged North Carolina, this, even after bad publicity hit the agency for its inadequate response. Since then, there has been clear evidence of political favoritism, first in Florida, and later in North Carolina. But results? They aren't about results:

Jurors at Daniel Penny’s trial in the caught-on-camera subway chokehold death of Jordan Neely said Friday they’re struggling to reach a verdict on the top charge of manslaughter. Penny’s lawyers have said the Marine veteran and aspiring architect was justified in protecting passengers from a man who witnesses said yelled, “Someone’s going to die today!” and said he was ready to go to jail after boarding the uptown F train. But Manhattan prosecutors have stressed that no witness testified that Neely threatened anyone specifically, touched anyone, or brandished a weapon. Police later found only a muffin in his pocket.

During the 2024 presidential campaign, Democrat Kamala Harris tried to run away from her beliefs and policies as fast as she could. Open borders, abolishing fracking, health care for illegals, higher taxes, and forcing people to buy electric cars are not popular policies, so she had to lie. We are constantly told that James Carville is a very smart Democrat strategist. I have not seen evidence of this intelligence. Throughout the 2024 campaign, Carville watched Kamala and continually said she was going to win. He did not lecture the campaign about how stupid they were.

Daniel Penny has been found not guilty of criminally negligent homicide in the chokehold death of Jordan Neely on a New York City subway car in 2023. Penny, 26, pleaded not guilty to charges of second-degree manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide. The judge dismissed the second-degree manslaughter charge against Penny on Friday after jurors said they could not come to a unanimous decision. The jury could only consider the negligent homicide charge if Penny was cleared of manslaughter, which is what the dismissal did.

A noticeable addition this year saw the seminal scene's baby Jesus draped in a keffiyeh - a traditional scarf used by Palestinians as a national symbol. Jesus was born into a Jewish family in Bethlehem some 2,000 years ago - and his death triggered the birth of Christianity. A statement from the wheelchair-bound pontiff, moreover, saw him humbly ask onlookers for peace in the Middle East, weeks after he called for an investigation into what he said may be a 'genocide' occurring in the Gaza Strip.

President Joe Biden delivered a short address from the White House on Sunday, claiming credit for the toppling of the regime of Syrian dictator Bashar Assad, who was ousted by rebels after a long and brutal reign lasting decades. Biden claimed that a combination of U.S. policies — isolating Assad; tying Russia down in Ukraine; and allowing Israel freedom of action against Iran and its Hezbollah proxy — weakened the regime and left it without defenders. Biden said: Over the past four years, my administration pursued a clear, principled policy towards Syria. First, we made clear from the start that sanctions on Assad would remain in place unless

Yet, he couldn't be bothered to show up for a once-in-a-lifetime event that other world leaders flocked to?
