The Food and Drug Administration will decide on a ban of certain food dyes in the coming weeks after receiving a petition to review the safety of Red 3, NBC News reports.
“With Red 3, we have a petition in front of us to revoke the authorization board, and we’re hopeful that in the next few weeks we’ll be acting on that petition,” Jim Jones, the deputy commissioner for human foods at the FDA, said during a Senate meeting this week, per NBC.
According to the FDA, the agency has reviewed the safety of Red 3 —which is derived from petroleum and found snacks, beverages, candy and more —

I found out the hard way as a child I'm allergic to one of the Reds they later banned. That was a really bad day in ER.
I'm good with this. We don't need artificial colors in everything. They don't improve the taste, have no nutritional value and several have proven to cause illness.
Next up, get rid of the high fructose corn syrup and put natural sugar back. The corn farmers will just have to deal with it.
Then the super processed garbage foods were biologically incapable of processing in a healthy way which is a big part of why so many people are morbidly obese. Again, no nutritional value, terrible for us and essentially designed to kill us while being nearly irresistible, also by design. No loss to anyone but the snack makers.
It's very hard to eat a healthy diet these days. They sneak this stuff into everything.
Make America Healthy Again.

Apparently, when one of my nephews ate Fruit Loops, which contain Red Dye No. 3, he turned all colors of the rainbow It's past time to ban it!

Why didn't do this already? Were they pressured not too? If so, by whom?

Good grief! First they try to depopulate us with the shot. Now, we are being told they have poisoned all our food and drinks. What good are these agencies?

If they can produce these produces minus the "bad stuff" and sell them abroad then why can't they do it here? Asking for a friend.

They are trying to ban my favorite cake. Red Velvet Cake. I just had some at Thanksgiving. What ever will I do?
They are worried about food dyes yet they still allow that vaccine! You know the one.

5, they can't. When I travel I have to be careful what I eat or I can end up in the ER because someone just had to have just that color of fake red in my food.

California banned the sale of silver colored dragee cupcake sprinkles with the claim that the silver is toxic. Wonder how the dentists got away with putting it in our teeth?

This stuff has been banned in most other civilized countries for years. There is no lack of colorful food (even junk food) in Europe!
Next.. high fructose corn syrup.
My granny used to say.. "If it doesn't rot, it isn't food." Let's purge the store shelves of the processed, unhealthy crap with a half life on par with Radium.

Uh, OK. Somehow I've lived a healthy 70+ years with all these toxins. Pardon me if I'm not overwhelmed that this is a big deal. Perhaps they should be banned, but compared to a lot of other things, I rate this a very small potatoes.

#1, it’s not hard at all to eat healthy these days if you read food labels and stick to the perimeter of the supermarket. Most of the processed food is in those aisles in the middle.
#7 red velvet cake will taste exactly the same without the red food coloring - it has nothing to do with the taste.
I want fluoride out of the water too. Except for a few years overseas and a decade on a farm where we had a well, I’ve been drinking it my whole life. New studies show that it can contribute to osteoporosis. Guess what I have? I now use non-fluoride toothpaste and have a filter system which takes the fluoride out of my drinking water.

Just wait til someone decides to tackle plasticides. As an ex pat I quickly learned that the US is one of the very few countries that allows acidic foods to be sold in plastic containers. Likewise with aspartame in diet sodas. At the very least, our government should inform us of potential problems so we can make wise decisions. Right now, we don't even have that.

I been eating food with red dyes all my life with no issues. And I only had issues when I got the Covid vaccine.
I have some artificial strawberry syrup that has no coloring in it. It's just clear. Not appetizing at all.

Red cake tastes just just fine without food coloring. So what if it is not red. Oh, and what is natural sugar? High fructose corn syrup is just as much a sugar as sucrose from sugar cane. Americans use too much sugar, witness how many fat people we are surrounded by and many are found in the mirror.
