America's top internet sleuths have refused to help law enforcement officials track down the assassin of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. The 50-year-old father-of-two was gunned down earlier this week, with the footage of his assassination circulating on social media amidst an ongoing manhunt for his killer.
Typically this type of high-profile violent crime sets platforms including TikTok and X alight with buzz, with amateur internet sleuths hunting to root out the perpetrator.

Everybody has been screwed by "healthcare insurance" companies. Probably about as universal an experience as there is in modern America.

The perp will be either a radical activist against insurance companies or a relative of a patient who died because the insurance company denied treatment. Really surprised they have been unable to identify the shooter or find them. Wonder if law enforcement has already identified the shooter but keeping it a secret. Same can go for the internet sleuths.

Well, I don't agree with them because refusing to help catch a murderer means you condone murder against someone you don't like or don't agree with to fix a problem. Also, health care is very complex and what you think you might be entitled to, may not be true.
However, they are private citizens and can do what they want.
What it DOES mean is that law enforcement will have to develop it's own resources to catch such people without the help of private individuals or companies that may arbitrarily refuse to help. That may lead to other consequences that some of the people that refuse to help may not like the outcome of.

Healthcare is a problem, but no one should give aid to a murderer, including this one. While there is no legal obligation to help, if I were an online sleuth and could help find the murderer, I would do so. No apologies.

Have to admit, it is hard to find sympathy for someone who's coverage denial policies deliberately kill, cripple, and cause untold suffering. I would not want that job, who knows how many people he knowingly killed to save a buck, 100's, 1000's, more, how do you reconcile that within yourself?

I think this is a hired killer. Went to NYC two weeks before he knew Thompson woild be at this conference on its first day. Knew timing of first day meeting at which he was tgo speak. May have known that he was going early - to have breakfast? Or to check out preparations for meeting?
Perp apparently has no record so DNA and fingerprints came up empty. Tjey are going thegenealogy route with the DNA.
One article dropped the bit that he and wife Paulette are separated, living in homes a few ,miles aparf. How did she know he'd had threats? She might know his schedule in NYC.

Re #9, those two weeks gave the killer time to plan the whole scenario including his escape.
His weapon was an unusual Brit model developed in WWII for special ops assassins. One article said this one may have been sold in Connecticut. Weapon is now used on farms to put down animals. It has a feature that caises it to self-silence.

This has the smell of a hit for hire. If this were some random disgruntled citizen, they would have made a myriad of mistakes and would be in custody now and their full story would be on the front pages.
And I am disgusted that anyone on this site would make excuses for a murderer. Even if this guy was slime and PERSONALLY caused harm and that is the motive, having worked in business, there are always disgruntled and disturbed people. Let's say in banking or law or police work or construction... do you condone wholesale slaughter just because someone felt they got a raw deal or someone got hurt or even killed because of negligence or greed? Wild West justice is not justice!

Pretty insidious that these libtards would look the other way and help a murderer evade justice just because they're dissatisfied with their Obamacare plans.

I worked for all my life in offices, always had insurance paid for by the company. I have been on Medicare for 15 years. I have yet to have something not covered.

I can see that when a cancer treatment is denied, and a loved one dies, this can create anger on a level that I can only imagine. I can't condone this murder, but I think I can understand how someone might get driven to this.
I have spent the last four months in intensive care, the hospital and then skilled nursing facility, with multiple surgeries, major joint replaced due to trauma damage, and still have at least one more orthopedic surgery and many months more of PT to go. I have to say, other than not covering me being transported via gurney for doctor's appointments in the first few months, which resulted in us paying about $6k out of pocket, the insurance has been just fine.
My wife and I are both keeping on top of the paperwork, and consulting with experts in the hospital and skilled nursing facility, but we haven't had much problems. I have used more health care in the last four months than probably the rest of my life, so as a recent "test case", I haven't found anything but excellent health care and few issues with Medicare and insurance payment. I ran into one charlatan of an orthopedic doc, but figured it out in time and bailed, back to a top notch place which did my knee replacement five years ago. And if a doc doesn't please you, find another doc, do not just put up with it. And ask around, especially nurses and physical therapists, THEY know who the good docs and bad docs are.

Re #11, the info on "Welrod" WW2 weapon is bogus. One huge factor is that the Welrod was made in .32 caliber primarily, with some in .380 caliber. None in 9mm caliber, which is what the shell casings were from. So wrong caliber, in addition to being incredibly rare and expensive weapon.
Looking at the better videos, the gun was an ordinary semiauto handgun with a suppressor screwed on. Not clear enough to see which exact gun. There is another online "expert" claiming it is a B&T fancy single shot ultra-silent weapon, which costs like $2500-3000 and has a huge background check and special AFT license. There are probably low double digits of those in the country, too.
Just a semi-auto 9mm that hadn't been tested with the suppressor and was not functioning reliably with it. This is common, and suppressors that are properly made for a semi-auto handgun have a booster system to make them work reliably with a semi-auto handgun. This one apparently just had the 'screw on' setup, no booster piston, so the extra weight on the barrel caused it to jam....as those will do. Clearly never tested the gun with that ammo and the suppressor.
Could easily be a home made suppressor, too...they are not complex if you have a few skills and tools. And a guy who didn't have a legal suppressor may not have wanted to be seen with it, so didn't test it, or at least with the same ammo brand and type, which can make a big difference. And if you make a home made job, not likely to work out the complexities of the booster piston system and springs to get it to cycle reliably. And yes, I have several of them, all legal with the PITA paperwork.

They complained about privatized healthcare. Wow. They really need to talk to people like me who are on Medicare. I wish I had remained healthy enough to continue working so I could be on the vastly superior private healthcare in the US.
Also, various lifetime chronic conditions were between me and my doctors until ... until I got on medicare. Then as soon as there was a charge for anything to medicare I started getting calls from India and other foreign countries trying to sell me a cure that they assured would be totally covered by medicare. They were correct. It was covered. But how did they find out? And it was a crap cure they were pushing. Apparently HIIPA is not practiced at Medicare. They pushed a wheelchair on my wife that she didn't need. And medicare happily agreed to pay over $3,000 for it. Same exact chair delivered by Amazon to the door was $157. Medicare is terrible, too expensive, and they let themselves and therefore us get ripped off by people in other countries.

I wonder how fast these "sleuths" would try and solve this heinous crime if the CEO's name was Jamal Thompson.
