California has many problems facing its residents, including earthquakes, wildfires, and housing crises. People are dealing with heightened crime rates in cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco. Homelessness has become a near-epidemic in the Golden State. So, Californians should be comforted to know that Attorney General Rob Bonta is focused on making sure stores that sell children’s products are including gender-neutral sections for their customers. Bonta's the press release urges residents to snitch on retailers that fail to comply with a new state law requiring them to provide gender-neutral sections for toys and childcare products

Comments:

Legislation from Gavin Newsom. Same guy who wants to be leader of the 'free' world.

Boy oh boy that is one crazy state. I have never been to California but it was always on my bucket list, the Redwoods, the Fisherman's wharf, the coastal road. I know longer have any intention of going there. They can shove it.

Hubs finished his military career in NorCal. We briefly considered staying there- we liked where we lived and back then California was still a beautiful place to be. It was also ridiculously expensive, which is why we chose to leave. Thank goodness!!

And just who decides what is and is not a gender neutral toy? My brother, 4 years older than I, received a tool kit one Christmas. I wanted to play with it but he wouldn’t let me, so I lobbed a smallish clod of dirt at him. Hit him square on the back of the head which resulted in a quite a bit of blood and a few stitches….and I got paddled. Never did get to play with the tool kit, either.

The owner of an oil field in Los Angeles County is suing the state of California over a law that will require it to stop production and plug its wells or face costly fines. Inglewood Oil Field owner Sentinel Peak argues in the lawsuit, filed this week, that the law, which was signed in September by Gov. Gavin Newsom, is unconstitutional. Attorneys for Sentinel Peak argue that the law “represents an illegal attempt to coerce an individual company to stop operation of its legal business,” according to court documents. They allege that mandatory fines, in particular, violate federal and state laws forbidding excessive fines.

President Joe Biden's administration is urging Ukraine to quickly increase the size of its military by drafting more troops and revamping its mobilization laws to allow for the conscription of those as young as 18. A senior Biden administration official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the private consultations, said Wednesday that the outgoing Democratic administration wants Ukraine to lower the mobilization age to 18 from the current age of 25 to expand the pool of fighting-age men available to help a badly outnumbered Ukraine in its nearly three-year-old war with Russia.

'You'd have every one of those Highland moms who came out for the migrants. And you do not want to mess with them.' Donald Trump’s thumping re-election threatens to upend the business of an industry he’s sworn to protect: Big Oil. Should his incoming administration follow through on plans to once again pull the United States out of the landmark 2015 Paris climate agreement—as a way to loosen regulations on fossil fuel companies—it could actually end up hurting companies like Exxon Mobil, according to the oil giant’s CEO. "I don't think today that production in the US is constrained," he said. "I don't know that there's an opportunity to unleash a lot of production in the near term."

Bill Clinton already wrote and sold his memoir, the imaginatively named, My Life, written and published back in 2005, but like his wife, one memoir is never enough and so Bill has another one, Citizen, that chronicles all the exciting stuff he’s been up to for the last two decades. Hillary Clinton is on her fourth memoir (believe it or not) and Bill needs to pull his weight here. The trouble is that while Bill’s memoir 1.0 was at least justified because he was the president of the United States, he hasn’t done anything since then, unlike Hillary, who really didn’t do much, but at least is out there

The staff, however, has apparently reached a new low in terms of morale, launching into unhappy groupchats about not getting their goodbye pictures.
