Biden-Harris Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith filed a motion Monday to dismiss all felony charges against President-elect Donald Trump in relation to the January 6 election-interference case.
Trump was accused of interfering in the 2020 election and was indicted in August 2023 on multiple charges, including conspiracy to defraud the U.S., conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights.
On Monday, Smith petitioned U.S. District Judge Tanya S. Chutkan, who is presiding over the case, to dismiss the case in accordance with the DOJ’s policy to not prosecute sitting presidents.

Counselor Smith, ewe are next for massive election interference. Get yourself a good criminal lawyer and get your affairs in order like Sonny Black. And remember that an anyone who acts as his own lawyer has a fool for a client and an ass for an attorney. My constitutional law professor at Vanderbilt told me that fifty years ago. Who'm I to doubt him?

Sorry, using the DOJ excuse is not good enough but was enough for him to weasel out of this miscarriage of justice.
The entire case should be reviewed by the incoming DOJ,and they better have all of the timeline of the work product intact too.
Also, fire everyone who was working on this case too.
Prosecute where needed but make sure you thoroughly review this case to show it was pure politics which most believe it was.

This is great news, however, do not underestimate the deep state. So does this dismissal open an alley for the deep state to do what they accused DJT of doing?

Smith asked for the D.C. case to be dismissed without prejudice, meaning Trump could still potentially be prosecuted for the same charges when he leaves office in four years.
Jack Squat and Tanya Shutkan are banking on a Quemala presidency down the road.

I would like a 5-min PowerPoint presentation (complete with additional supporting documents and timelines) to compare PDJT’s documents storage to Xiden’s.
And a robust explanation of why PDJT was targeted and not Xiden. Or PIAPS for that matter.

Proving that this was a sham from the beginning, false charges only designed to try to make Trump lose the election.

Jack Smith and his cohorts will be needing their own attorneys. Conspiracy against rights is looking them in the face.

No way Trump should accept this. The case should be dismissed WITH prejudice that will mean it is permanently closed. Otherwise they could retry after this term on the same case. It is unlikely that anyone will be interested in starting up a new case after Trump's term is over. The nasty Smith wants to leave this hanging over Trump's head. Since there are significant questions about the validity of Smith's position, the case should be permanently dropped.

It will be weak Republicans who will push to “move on” and no justice for all these federally-employed crooks have done. No. A terrible and historic wrong was done and it must be set right.

But the case against Smith for doing all this fake legal stuff while not actually a legally appointed and CONFIRMED prosecutor needs to keep on going.

This was filed without prejudice so it can be brought up when Trump is no longer President, but if all is right with the world, by then Jack Smith will have to file it from prison.

My kingdom for a picture of Rosie, Reiner, Degeneres, Whoopi, Behar, etc., when they found out this news. (No I really don't have a kingdom but if I did, I'd give it for those pictures.)

Pam Bondi should investigate this mess and make it clear to the Jack Smith types that two can play at the lawfare game. MAD. You prosecute my king, I will prosecute yours.
