Diesel motorhome sales are set to be halted in several states at the start of next year due to a new climate rule from California being enacted, according to RVtravel.
Motorhome sales are being prevented in California, Washington, Oregon, New York, Massachusetts and New Jersey if the vehicles do not meet certain emission requirements based on regulations from the California Air Resources Board (CARB), according to RVtravel. CARB amended its Advanced Clean Truck regulations on Oct. 24, which require all vehicles over 8,500 pounds to produce zero emissions.

According to the article, RVs not meeting regs (apparently zero emissions if above 8,500 lbs, which most RVs are) will "not be permitted to be registered". Registered when new or re-registered as this year's tag expires? Are all existing RVs going to be suddenly illegal to register? Or only new ones?
Either way ---- nuts and should be rapidly overturned by state legislatures due to complaints by citizens.

The Left's insane electric vehicle regulations aim to immobilize Americans. Give me gasoline and diesel. That's what really works.

Why should CA be able to dictate to 5 other States what they can and can not do? Of course, if they're on board with what CA is demanding, they will join that. That's just money lost to those States! There are lots of Other Great Camping places for Motorhomes that welcome them!

We are part-time RVers and tow a 30-ft Forest River Wildcat Fifth wheel trailer. As you can guess from my screen name, we own a 2007 Dodge Ram 2500, 4WD truck with a turbocharged Cummins Diesel engine. The entire drive train tows the trailer well even when fully loaded with our stuff, food, and water. There is no way the trailer could be towed with an electric truck. Having to stop every 100 miles to get a full charge? Not a chance. A total joke.
If the Peoples Republic of Colorado were to decide to pull this stunt, too, wife and I will change states.

Why don't they ban private jets while they are at it? Don't they use lots of emissions?

The climate hoax has to be stopped. Now. There is ZERO reliable, reproducible scientific evidence to support it, and the forced move to all-electric vehicles and appliances is going to financial destroy any state or country that accepts these insane mandates.

Did not a court just rule that EPA regulations and actions were unconstitutional? Isn't this derived from EPA data?

Re #6, nothing dictated. The other rotten leftist states were looking for an easy 'leader' to follow to criminalize driving a normal vehicle, so they promised to do whatever the pukes at CARB said to do.

Considering today's EPA ruling removing 46 years of regulations, I suspect this State regulation will be challenged.
It essentially just reduced the value of every RV, will impact many State and National Park revenues but could give authorities the ability to remove all of those un-housed that live in their RV's parked on city streets all over California.

CARB is not elected so legally they can not make laws.
#8 my 2500 is a 2022, I think its the same turbocharged Cummins Diesel put in many RVs. Now with DEF it burns cleaner than any gas engine. Of course pollution or burning clean is not the issue, control is the issue.

Re # 17, CARB actually, IIRC, predates EPA and is completely a Cali state animal, with all down-to-the-roots crazy that this implies. They have been regulating EVERYTHING for many decades. At one point they very, very nearly wrote a "formula" for paint. This would be the ONLY paint sold in Cali.....no matter how crappy a paint it was essentially guaranteed to be.
Not a subset of EPA, an older and more nutso independent Cal state mess, which has sadly attracted some lunatic followers in some states.

Seems to me that the value of RV's -in pristine condition with 7,501 or more miles showing on the odometer- will 'skyrocket', as they will be legal to take into Kommifonia and register as 'Used'.
The recent court decision affected Federal EPA regulations, but likely do not effect State regulations, which are under the Kommiefornia constitution.
This affects vehicles over 8500 lbs.... 'vehicles' under 8500 lbs. are under different regulations. I believe this is for the powered vehicle only, not including any trailer.
I understand that Kommiefornia is already in a trucking bind, as diesel-powered 'road tractor' trucks used to haul semi-trailers from the big ports have to meet stringent regulations, and only the very newest ones -and maybe only some of those- can be used in Kali.
I'm glad that I'm over 1,000 miles away, in a nice part of Flyover country!
