Kristi Noem Isn’t Courageous Enough
To Be Trump’s Homeland Security Secretary

Original Article

Multiple outlets say, based largely on claims from CNN via anonymous sources, that President-elect Donald Trump intends to nominate South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem as his Homeland Security secretary. While Noem is certainly skilled at promoting herself, she doesn’t have the courage required for this role.[snip] Noem has an undeserved reputation for courage because she was the only governor not to shut down her state in the name of Covid. But that reputation is completely undeserved. The truth is, she attempted to get the power to shut down South Dakota, but the state legislature refused to give it to her.

Comments:

My spidey senses have always flashed negatives regarding Noem. Articles like this one have always reinforced them. I’m hoping they’re wrong. I’m hoping PT is choosing her because of what he knows - not just what he has been told.

I do not believe fear of the media for anyone associated with DJT is a problem... The fear of failure and having the Trumpster on your ass is much more terrible than anything the media can do. Knowing he has your back alleviates any fear engendered by asshat reporters.

I agree with most of the posters, I'm not for her being DHS. I don't think she is a good fit for any Trump Administration position. After hearing that she killed her dog without taking it to a shelter, made me judge her differently. She does not belong in a position that makes that makes powerful decisions for this Country. This is not a good decision President Trump.

According to Sundance, this just might be a strategic play by Trump. He wants Sen Scott to be Majority Leader. Sen Thune stands in the way. Thune's wife hates DC and has begged her husband to return to South Dakota. Thune has aspirations of bring Governor of SD. So Noem goes to DHS, Thune returns to SD to run for Gov, and that leaves Scott in a great position to win Majority Leader.

DHS is a leviathan that needs beheading. If Noem helps to accomplish this, she'll be a hero. But if she fumbles the ball, I hope Trump uses his favorite two words: "You're fired."

She was picked because she is a woman. Trump needed to add more women to his cabinet, and she kind of fit the bill. When one looks at Trump cabinet people that he's picked, this one just seems off. Everyone else either has some experience in the field in which they were chosen, except this one. I was even surprised by Trump picking Pete Hegseth for defense secretary. Going from Fox in Morning to defense secretary seems a pretty huge jump. I hope he works out, but at least he has been in the military and has experience. What does Noem know about Homeland security. Her state isn't even on the border.

She might be perfect for the job. She's not afraid to shoot a dog and isn't remotely apologetic for it. Possibly a good trait for someone whose job is Homeland Security.

If she sets a "no nonsense" tone then let's folks like Tom Homan get on with their jobs she could work out alright. How about Dan Bongino for head of the Secret Service. He could do that job VERY WELL, then send status reports to Noem and accounts of what has occurred. I also like the idea of Thune for Governor of SD.

As Jan. 6 defendants anticipate pardons from President-elect Donald Trump, there are indications that the FBI is winding down any further investigations of the attack on the Capitol in 2021.  According to sources at the FBI, Jan. 6 cases still being investigated “are dead.” “They’re not going anywhere. They’re dead. They’re going to be closed, because they still have some in the pipeline,” an FBI source said. “Basically, right now, everyone [is asking], ’Why the hell are you prosecuting?” another Bureau source said. “They’re all going to be pardoned anyway, so it’s an informal shutdown.”
