The father of an allegedly kidnapped 14-year-old girl is in jail in Lonoke County, Arkansas, after a shooting that left the reported kidnapper dead. The father said he found the man with his daughter, and a confrontation broke out as he tried to rescue her.
Lonoke County Sheriff John Staley said in a Facebook post that his deputies received a call on October 8 about a missing 14-year-old girl. As the deputies were en route to the home of the missing girl, they received a call regarding a shooting.

This guy deserves a medal!
And he also daved the taxpayer $$$ since their will be no need for a trial or the cost of prison. I've heard that child rapists get the same same end result there anyhow. Sorry ... not sorry

He won't be kidnapping ever again. Give the man a medal and arrest the cops.

Mind if I join the line at the courthouse to volunteer for the jury? Dad should be home by lunch.

Might be more to the Story. Did the 14 year Old go willingly, not screaming or kicking trying to get away? Was this a different guy than the Old guy accused of Rape? Was this a Boyfriend? The Dad will have a better case if it's the Older guy than if this was just a case of a young girl sneaking out to be with her Boyfriend.

I dont know what a preliminary charge is. Is that being able to treat someone like a criminal without actually accusing him of being a criminal? Kind of like being a person of interest is a suspect that they cant call a suspect.
Next thing you know the sheriff will repeatedly kick him in the back and head while screaming "stop resisting!"

6, all your questions are utterly irrelevant. 14 year olds do not have agency and can not willingly go with a 67 year old man at 1 in the morning to anywhere. He was not her boyfriend. He was her rapist.
He's better off dad and the DA should drop all charges.

Saw this from the mom ,Heather Spencer, at another site. Very troubling, if true.
"First, just want to thank the community and all the victims who have reached out to us. We have gotten a clear picture of a predator who continuously worked with children and preyed on young girls. This man was Chief of police in Indiana and resource officer, giving us a better idea of why the Lonoke county courts have been protecting him and going after my husband...

"Sheriff Staley described as a “preliminary charge of first-degree murder,” pending his further investigation." So, he might not be charged, but if this is the man the article says "groomed his daughter," although illegal due to age the teen may have consented to go with the man, and that's not kidnapping. They'll sort it out and not charge him anyway.

Must admit to being confused by the notion of getting in front of somebody's vehicle and following them, unless he shifted to reverse to follow from the front. What the relevant facts are and making sense of them (particularly how they go together) will be the heavy lifting from this point. Lord, have mercy.

#6 is correct to bring up the point that not all 14-year-olds are innocent angels. One kidnapping/rape can happen to anyone. Twice in a row brings the girl's complicity into question. If a parent wakes up and his daughter is not in her room and there was no struggle or complaint on her part, things may not be what they seem. 14 year-olds are older today than they used to be.

I apologize for an additional post, but this case is particularly troubling, because of the information that is coming out about it, and comments here about the child perhaps not resisting the predator, as well.
This is a 67 year old, who was arrested and released on a $50,000 bond after allegedly grooming this child. He is allegedly also a former Chief of police and resource officer from a town in Indiana. How much resistance would a young teenager have under those circumstances?
It needs more attention and investigation than from the local county sheriff’s department, imo. Amid all of the reports of pedophile grooming, and the powerful people alleged to be involved in such activities, how do we know this man wasn’t part of a much bigger ring of predators?
Depending on what this family might have gone through, and for how long, it’s hard to reconcile charging the father immediately with 1st degree murder. The predator had already raped his daughter once - as far as we know from the report - maybe more. It’s hard not to stand with a father wanting to protect his daughter from being kidnapped and taken away from the family, to who knows where.

This is my last day on lucianne...a site I've used daily for over 20 years and have supported financially. Twice I've paid the $69.99 annual charge for ad-free service. Three days ago I contacted the site to refund my money because solitaire and other ads continue to pop up and it's impossible to locate where they're coming from. No response.
Anyone else experiencing this? There's plenty of other sites to find the same info appearing here.
Bye Bye Lucianne

12, 14, she is a child, she can not consent to anything. It is rape. She doesn't have to be kicking and screaming and dragged away at knife point. The dead guy is a child molesting rapist and death was the best answer here.
I am appalled that any rational adult would say "kids today are older acting" and "she wanted it". Omg! If it was your grand daughter, you'd be gunning this guy down, too. If not, then you're broken and confused.

If it was a kidnapping, bravo for Dad.
Sometimes the kid is bamboozled on the internet into going willingly (and incredibly stupidly) with her "internet friend". This might be something different from kidnapping.
Some kids are crazy. Hard to tell what is really going on.

This past summer our family and friends were at the new water park that opened the previous year neaer our neighborhood. While walking to a ride my daughter and her two friends were not too far in front of us in their bathing suits. I caught an older gentleman checking them out complete with the lowering of his glasses. Without missing a beat, I got in his face and asked him did he like what he saw. I then called him a pervert. He said nothing and disgusting behavior needs to be called out. All three of the girls were 15. I couldn't imagine what I'd do to a 67-year-old reprobate messing with my teenaged daughter. On second thought yes, I could.
