'Mistakenly enacted': Okeechobee PD responds
after issuing emergency order on guns

Original Article

Before Hurricane Helene made landfall, several cities and municipalities declared local states of emergency to ensure funds would be available for storm-related repairs. One city’s local state of temporary emergency order has stirred controversy from gun advocates. On Monday, the Okeechobee Police Department admitted to enacting the wrong declaration last week, which mistakenly included a gun ban. Firearms Policy Coalition, a non-profit gun rights organization headquartered in California, recently posted the notice on X, criticizing the police department for adopting the order, which banned the sale of guns and ammunition and prohibited public firearm possession by anyone other than law enforcement or military members.

Comments:

The police ordered all firearms and ammo sales to cease citing the emergency declaration. This lit up the interwebs like a Tesla on fire. Did no one in the dept. know that it's unconstitutional and deprives flooded homeowners of defense in case of looting?
They're sorry, it's a 'mistake'

The order was very clearly unconstitutional, and the "riots and civil unrest" version is very probably also unconstitutional.

This was done erroneously in case of a natural disaster and rescinded. That is fine. But consider the provision "substantial resistance to lawful exercise of authority". Battle of Concorde and Lexington could be illegal under this interpretation.

New Orleans police confiscated hundreds of privately owned firearms in the aftermath of Katrina. I believe the NRA and another gun rights group filed a lawsuit that resulted in an injection that included an order to return confiscated firearms.

Kamala Harris fumbles Hurricane Milton
response because she doesn’t truly care

Vice President Kamala Harris can’t even stumble her way through an emergency storm briefing without making it all about her. Let’s rewind the tape. As Hurricane Milton approached Florida, President Biden hosted a public briefing with a number of high officials. Reasonable enough. Harris — who appeared by Zoom for some reason, a bizarre choice in itself — suddenly seemed to be distracted by something behind the camera, raised her hands to cover her mouth and then barked out, “It’s a live broadcast!” Plainly, she was hushing off-screen staffers who were trying to feed her lines to make it look like she had something useful to add.

Kamala Harris’s campaign took a hard hit this week during her highly anticipated 60 Minutes interview with CBS’s Bill Whitaker. What was meant to be a friendly sit-down to showcase her policies turned into an all-out disaster, as Harris was called out for essentially being “handed” the Democrat nomination without ever going through a primary process. CBS hit her with hard-hitting facts: no votes, no debates, no campaign battle — just an elitist handoff of power. After a shaky start discussing her foreign policy approach to Middle East tensions, Harris stumbled through an attempted defense of her economic policies, which Whitaker repeatedly challenged.

In a landmark case, the top European Union court has ruled that all member states must recognise gender changes made in other countries within the bloc. The European Court of Justice (ECJ), which serves as the supreme court of the European Union in matters of EU law, said this week that Romania had violated EU law by refusing to accept as valid a gender transition certificate obtained by Arian Mirzarafie-Ahi in Britain. The case was spurred after Mirzarafie-Ahi had requested a new birth certificate in Romania, however, the local court demanded that Mirzarafie-Ahi go through a new gender recognition process in Romania rather than accepting the documents from Britain, The Telegraph reports.

Most of the areas ravaged by Hurricane Helene are filled with Trump voters. Asheville, North Carolina is a notable exception, but we’re four weeks and change away from a consequential presidential election and two weeks away from the start of early voting in these hurricane-hit states of Georgia (October 15), North Carolina (October 17), and Tennessee (October 16). President Biden appeared confused Thursday evening when asked what he thought states impacted by Hurricane Helene needed after he spent the day touring parts of Florida and Georgia that were battered by the Category 4 storm. “What do the states in the storm zone need after what you saw today?” a reporter asked him. Biden paused momentarily before responding. “Oh, in the storm zone!” he said. “Yes, sir,” the reporter replied. “I’m wondering what storm you’re talking about,” Biden continued. “They’re getting everything they need and they’re very happy across the board.”

The dockworkers' union has agreed to return to work after the White House intervened and strong-armed the U.S. Maritime Alliance, representing shipping companies, to give the union what they wanted regarding wages. The dockworkers will return to work immediately under the old contract and the two sides will have until January 15 to hammer out the outstanding issues. Why Biden didn't intervene to prevent the strike is clear. He wanted the International Longshoreman Union (ILA) to demonstrate its muscle and willingness to shut down the U.S. economy to get what it wanted.

Talk about watching a narrative die in real-time. This segment was like watching the OceanGate submersible implode. Of course, MSNBC would have a segment on January 6 since Democrats cannot move past that little riot that was inconsequential to the stability of the nation. Liberals have no grasp of history, so it’s in keeping with their obsession with this minor scuffle. Yet, I’m sure host Ari Melber was not expecting Gordon Sondland, a key witness in the Trump impeachment effort, to declare his support for the Trump-Vance ticket this year. Melber was aghast—Sondland had said that the January 6 event was why he could never support Trump again.

Second, he lies habitually and serially about virtually everything. He's lied and misled, knowingly and repeatedly, about his military service. Minnesota governor Tim Walz on Tuesday reiterated his support for abolishing the Electoral College and switching to a national popular vote as the sole means of electing presidents and their running mates. While campaigning for Vice President Kamala Harris on the West Coast, Walz suggested at two different fundraisers that he would prefer to focus on winning votes across the country rather than concentrate on key battleground states that could sway the upcoming presidential election as they have done in the past. “I think all of us know the Electoral College needs to go. We need, we need national popular vote, but that’s not the world we live in,”

Lebanese terror outfit Hezbollah has changed its tune: After spending weeks trumpeting an apocalyptic end for Israel, the cadre of bloodthirsty cowards is begging the Jewish state to let up. “We support the political efforts led by [Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih] Berri under the banner of achieving a cease-fire,” whined Hezbollah deputy leader Naim Qassem — for the first time not conditioning a truce on an end to the war in Gaza.
