Column: It’s hard sharing a party with
Trump or Vance. They taint the right’s
good ideas

One of my great peeves of the Trump era is the Greenland effect.
I belong to a small group of people who think America should peacefully acquire Greenland. It’s an old idea. The State Department pitched buying the vast arctic island in 1946, but the Danes didn’t want to sell their colony, alas. But given its strategic and economic value, it’s worth revisiting.

Jonah, you 'taint got no good ideas. Or rather, the 'Never Trumpers' only have ideas. Putting them into practice is just too messy and 'might make our betters mad at us' - so they just have their ideas and tut-tut the liberals for totally ignoring those great ideas.

I don't consider myself to be sharing the GOP with Goldberg. He took Big Tech money in return for The National Review not writing stories about how conservative voices were being erased in social media.
It's why he had to LEAVE The National Review.
If you're a fan of conservatives who talk about "America's leadership role in the world", which means we get to pay for carriers, bombers, and flag-draped coffins while Europe gets free tuition and medicine, then you are part of Goldberg's party.

Dropped Jonah years ago. One time entertaining until he went Never-Trump. I never could understand not backing Trump especially considering the alternatives...Hillary? Slo-Joe? Give me a break.

The LA Times and Jonah Goldberg. Those are two reasons to not read the article. I suspect Goldberg believes there is direct relationship between open border policies and growth in his portfolio. The same with George Conway. They hate Trump because he wants to close the border. Goldberg and Conway are not Republicans. They are self-serving, investment class elitists.

Jonah "There is no civil war because there is no violence" Goldberg. I get so tired of supposed conservatives starting with the presumption that the Left in America would actually support a conservative idea if it just weren't tainted with a conservative politician who is really awful because the Left hates him. Jonah, the ONLY ideas the Left in America are interested in are more licentious sexuality and more free stuff. Duh.

JG has morphed into more of a center-right pro-Israel Democrat of late. He won't admit it. He's easier on Harris than he is on Trump or JD, by far.
What is sad is that he has to trash and deride every MAGA politician or conservative personality or pundit out there more influential than he is, meaning a significant majority of them.
I guarantee that he has nothing but amused, condescending contempt for us. Count on it.

I liked "Liberal Fascism". But that goes back to 2008.
Since then Jonah seems to have gotten lost due to his hatred of Trump.
Which has led him from relevancy to irrelevancy.
Besides that: I would like to see his ROI analysis to justify buying Greenland from Denmark.

Jonah will read this thread, guaranteed, and respond: "You forfeited your integrity, I kept mine."
No. I disagree wholeheartedly We have a different, non-political definition of the term. We're losing our country, and battle lines need to be drawn. The old rules no longer apply. We didn't make them. He is not a wartime consiglieri, and it is war. Pen and ink won't win it.

In 2016, I was on Jonah’s side. I was a fierce Never Trumper. I didn’t trust him - a New York Liberal - to govern. I ticked off a number of friends, but I didn’t vote for Trump (I voted 3rd party).
But I had to eat my words (publicly) and admit that Trump was a superb president. I voted for him in ‘20 and will do so with gusto again this year!
I wish Jonah could do the same. It’s been disappointing to see him dig in so stubbornly.

Like Bil Kristol and George Will I used to like Jonah Goldberg. However, like the other two he's gone off the deep end with TDS. I fail to see how Trump or Vance taint any of our ideas. As opposed to any ideas of the left. Which are destroying our country in real time.
