Independent Senator Joe Manchin is considering returning to the Democratic party and jumping in the presidential race now that President Biden has announced he will not seek reelection.
The West Virginia Senator had previously been floated as a potential unity candidate during the primary season but declined to run.
At the end of May, Manchin left the Democratic party after decades in office as a Democrat and registered as an Independent.
But Manchin is now considering reversing course and re-registering as a Democrat to run for president, a source confirmed to DailyMail.com.

I wouldn't misunderestimate Manchin. The democrats and republicans are fairly well split and with the independents as usual with their thumb on the scale. I think that because Manchin isn't a far left loon or isn't Trump he might appeal to them. Thing is, I'm not sure the far left democrats who are running the party realize that.

"West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin is considering re-registering as a Democrat so he can run for president."
"Fox News confirmed Manchin, who in May left the Democratic Party and registered as an Independent, said Sunday he is considering re-registering with his original party and running for president."

"Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia said he won't seek reelection in 2024"
A true political chameleon and power thirsty piece of sheet.

WV law says "the candidate must attest under oath that he “has not been registered as a voter affiliated with any other political party for a period of 60 days before the date of filing the announcement.”
The announcement filing deadline is August 1.
I don't think he would meet those qualifications.

Too bad for Manchin that this a coup with a pre-determined outcome, not an actual race for the nomination.

A run for her money?
It ain't her money in the first place.
But I suppose Manchin has the same cachet to the members of the segment of the slightly informed public that Tulsi Gabbard and Robert F. Kennedy do: They have said one or two things that conservatives like, so they think that JM, TG, & RFKjr are 'sane democrats' overall..... (Which they are not.)

Problem for any challengers are this:
1. You've got to get 300 delegates to place a name in nomination. Once someone else starts to whip delegates, they're out in the open.
2. Delegates are basically left-of-center. Any one right of center (for Democrats) has about as much as getting support at DNC as Trump-Vance.
3. Money. You're gonna have problems accessing the Biden loot even for Kamala. It's nearly impossible for anyone else.

Joe Manchin is the democrat version of Mitt Romney, all ambition and no substance.

If true, I doubt this will fly. I still think another contender will come forward to "save" the party and "save" the country. If so, it will be Newsom unless he has decided that this is Trump's election and he will wait for 2028 for a better chance.

Manchin has already shot his wad. He left the party when he thought it was to his advantage to do so but now wants back in? They won't have him. Appearing as a crass opportunist is a bad look in politics.

This is a deep fake by the Democrats. They didn’t dump Joe without a plan in place. Come the Convention, Moochelle will be the nominee. And it you is against Moochelle , you is a racist and anti-woman! Kamala will gracefully step aside for Moochelle and thus unite the Democrat Party. Trump better be making plans for this possibility!

Just for the fun of it, and now that he can, I'd like to see RFK junior give up his independent run for President and run as a Democrat

From another article: “ Manchin said he was considering the party switch and throwing his hat in the ring for president, "Even just to have the discussion of bringing the party back to center," Fox News' Bret Baier posted on X.”
Back to the center! Two faced Manchin is a liberal democrat and the most disingenuous critter in Congress. He turns 77 next month. Go away, Manchin.

Manchin is viewed as a turncoat by the Dems and is not trusted by the Republicans.
His political career is over.
