Retiring West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin is leaving the Democratic Party and has formally registered in his state as an independent, stoking speculation he may run for elected office again in November.
“Today, our national politics are broken and neither party is willing to compromise to find common ground,” Manchin said in a statement issued shortly after West Virginia radio host Hoppy Kercheval broke the news. “To stay true to myself and remain committed to put country before party, I have decided to register as an independent with no party affiliation and continue to fight for America’s sensible majority.”

Can someone tell me the relevance of this move? Manchin will still vote with the democrats and doesn't do a thing to help conservative causes. Maybe he should just leave the stage.

I think this indicates how much feces the Dems have just dumped onto themselves with this NYC Kangaroo Kourt disaster and their hysterical ravings about it on TV. And Bragg, that villainous punk with his "honor and integrity" spouting is just revolting to anyone not crippled entirely by TDS.

So, today there are 49 Republicans, 47 Democrats and 4 Independents.
Now, if he was truly upset with things he would caucus with the Republicans.

From a fellow West Virginian:
Forget politics in the Mountain State, Joe. You were a decent governor, but when you went to DC you let Chuck Schumer turn you into a swamp creature. You avoided the embarrassment of being voted out if you ran for reelection.
Too bad you voted to impeach Donald Trump--who received 68% of the vote in this state, and turned all 55 counties red. You did not vote wisely.

You can change your affiliation to Independent, but the Democrat stench still follows you as long as you caucus with them. You can cry all you want about willingness to compromise, but can you name one thing that the Democrats have been willing to compromise on? It is all or nothing with them. Joe Manchin cannot truly say that he is for unlimited abortion. He cannot say that he is for unfettered illegal immigration and amnesty for illegals so that they can be supported by the US taxpayers and vote for Democrats. Can he honestly say that his conscience is clear continually voting with Democrats while claiming to be independent? His record shows otherwise.

Unless you throw in with the Republicans and take the majority away from the Dems, it means nothing. The voters in your state are going to see right through this useless charade.

This is pretty much a big stunt, but we've learned to expect such things from Joe Man-child. Joe, the cardboard cutout of a "principled" Democrat representing the hardworking coal-miners in his home State.

Manchin can file as a Martian for all we care. He killed the primary industry in West Virginia and has a state full of drug addicts with a large network of pushers of poison. That's all you need to know about him.

(and) neither party is willing to compromise to find common ground,” Manchin said
Compromise? Republicans, masquerading as conservatives, have compromised us into the black hole the country is in now.
Don't let the door hit ya' Manchin.
