California’s crime-friendly environment has led to numerous Legal Insurrection reports of smash-and-grab robberies, Beverly Hills becoming a ghost town, piracy in Oakland Bay, and a constant stream of organized retail theft. (snip) The California Senate recently passed SB 961, a measure which would require “passive speed limiters” to be installed in all new cars manufactured or sold in the Golden State by 2032.
The motion, introduced by Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco), would make California the first state in the nation to enact the safety requirement, which is similar to a law in the European Union that is set to take effect in July.

If this ever passes you can bet YouTube will be full of how-to videos on how to eliminate the beeping. Will there ever be an end to leftists trying to insert themselves into our lives?

Not every car has GPS to know its location nor wireless access to know the speed limit posted at that point. Foolish virtue signaling by our political slave owner 'Masters'.

After this, it won’t be long until that one time beep turns into a constant blare, and then an automatic correction to below the speed limit. Only a matter of time.

In a couple of years they’ll make the beep longer and louder, and eventually replace it with a recording of your mother telling you to slow down or no tv tonight.

Imagine driving along and your car starts beeping behind a group of motorcycles heading to a Hells Angels rally. Someone is going to get hurt bad.

California: Where your children are no longer your children, and the car you purchased is no longer your car. It's the Communist way. How long before your car turns itself off for the week after driving X number of miles? Al in the name of 'Saving the Planet'. The parrots that can only repeat what they are old but never think for themselves will tell you so. Proof the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Uh....my cars have no idea where they are or what the speed limit might be. Sorry to disappoint these little power mad junior nazis.
Find the GPS antenna and clip the wire and this system won't know where it is, if they install it. But, finding the beeper an clipping those wires would be workable, too.

How many now that there are ALREADY speed limiters built into many high performance modern cars? Now they are currently set to pretty high numbers, IIRC the lowest are something well above 100 mph, but there are already guys who know how to hack into the car computers for these to remove these factory speed limiting software programs.
There will be ways to disable this stuff, but it's a shame that we can't disable the thugs who want this installed, instead.

No current cars are affected. It starts in 2027. In the inevitable 15 minute cities, they will shut your car off if you travel 16 minutes!

I drove a rental car with a speed limiter. Unfortunately, it was the only car on the highway that had one. Driving on the highway was a nightmare. Flow of traffic was 75-80. The car I was driving was limited to 65, making me an absolute road hazard. I can't tell you how many cars and trucks sped up behind me in the right lane and honked loudly because I was going so slow and due to traffic, they were stuck behind me.
Speed limiters are DANGEROUS!! They don't take into affect flow of traffic speeds, speeds going downhill, passing speeds and other factors required for highway driving. This is why I will never sign up for my insurance to monitor my speed and driving. They aren't in the car with me, they have no idea of the traffic I am seeing and they aren't worried in the slightest about the semi driving slightly faster than the posted speed limit that is glued to my bumper, urging me to go faster!!

If my cell phone was monitoring my speed and sending the info to insurance company or anyone, I would be using a Faraday cage or a DIY one, per numerous tech sources. This intrusion is so Stasi-like, it takes my breath away. Why would anyone on this liberty site tolerate being a prisoner to a cell phone or anything or anyone else?

That harebrained idea is going to get people hurt or even killed. Not even referring to the inevitable imperfect implementation or malfunction. Honk behind the wrong driver in the wrong situation and risk getting run off the road, shot, or other deadly reaction.
