This may be the week Alvin Bragg’s case
against Trump falls apart

Even for those of us who have long been critics of the “hush money” case against Donald Trump and its dubious legal theory, it has been surprising to see that the prosecutors had no more evidence than we previously knew about.
The assumption was that no rational prosecutor would base a major criminal case almost entirely on the testimony of Michael Cohen, who was recently denounced by a judge as a serial perjurer peddling “perverse” theories in court.
The calculus of Alvin Bragg is now obvious. He is counting on the jury convicting Trump regardless of the evidence.

In a fair legal system, Professor Turley is correct.
When Cohen fails to prove the state's "case." a directed verdict of "not guilty" is required. But then again, a fair legal system and a fair judge would have dismissed this clown car of a trial long ago.
Considering civil courts in this jurisdiction have placed judgements of hundreds of millions of dollars against Mr. Trump, and the one-sided rulings of this "Judge," my confidence in any such outcome (directed verdict or dismissal of charges) is very slim. There may be a decent chance for a hung jury, and an outside chance at a not guilty verdict on trial.
And if the jury does buy this slop, there will be a reversal ... heck, even Harvey Weinstein got a reversal. And he raped women (vs. an alleged consentual affair in Las Vegas with a porn star). ... but it will be years away. As they say, you don't get your reputation back after stuff like this.
I guess I have to add New York City to Chicago on my bucket lists of "cities I never want to visit again as long as I live." Which is tough, since I'd like to attend a taping of Gutfeld! some day.

"will the judge let it go that far" you asked Mr. Turley, I think the answer is an unequivicable hell yes! He has alrighty stepped on and quashed Trump's rights during this debacle, and he is undoubtedly in the tank for Biden so I don't believe he cares about the law or fairness, he will do his part to persecute Trump till the end. It will take an appeal to reverse what this dishonest, disgraceful judge has done.

Will the Judge let it get that far, Professor Turley? Absolutely, he has been salivating for this very opportunity. He will accept the testimony and the media will applaud his decision even though Cohen has zero credibility. These two, the Judge and this witness are thrilled to be part of the team to do a number on Trump, they have no fear of public outrage because the media will stand them up of champion examples of the narrative that no one is above the law. This case is so blatantly corrupt and given a different media climate, it would have never been brought. The media and the Biden administration are making a mockery of our legal system. Nothing will satisfy them except President Trump behind bars. Evil, corrupt and vainglorious fools sit in powerful position in our country and they will destroy it because they can. Where are the rest of the Republicans like Rick Scott? There should have been members of the party lining up to publicly denounce this travesty. Shame on every single one of them that have made no attempt to expose this political prosecution. The American people are taking names and will not forget.

Bravo, #3!
When the statue of limitations runs out, creating something that would somehow seem to be a felony to bring up old information that could be damaging is all this is about. No campaign funds were used, but that doesn't matter if it could some how be mainipulated to financially hurt President Trump.
This action could have been undertaken years ago, but it was coordinated (in Mr, Rogers voice--Can you say "collusion"??) so that there would be overwhelming court dealings simultaneously during the 2024 election year.

Maybe New Yorkers should use the same leftist tactics that are employed when one of theirs is on trial and visit the jurors at their homes?

The Jewish children and grandchildren are a great bulwark for Trump.
They make him even more steely.

The verdict has already been decided. Nothing will change it.

"He is counting on the jury convicting Trump regardless of the evidence." - This was the intent all along, and that is what is probably going to happen. It is very clear that Trump is not guilty of any crimes but he has a NY prosecutor, a NY judge and a NY jury.

This judge must be overruled and this farce stopped before it does any more damage. I don't understand what the SCOTUS is waiting for.

Hey, Jonathan Turley! In case you haven't noticed yet, your prognostications require HONEST judges and prosecutors. Stop fooling yourself, you sound like Jim Jordan.
