Pete Buttigieg said Wednesday there will be 'accountability' if an investigation finds there are specific entities or individuals responsible for the Baltimore bridge collapse.
The promise from the Transportation Secretary comes after President Joe Biden vowed the day the Francis Scott Bridge went down into the Patapsco River that the federal government would foot the bill for reconstruction.
The 1.6-mile bridge partially collapsed after a cargo shipping container vessel crashed into one of its support structures just before 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

Donald Trump either has a short list or a long one, depending on the media source, in his search for a running mate. Either way, he could do a lot worse than Tulsi Gabbard. At least she knows, unlike many establishment Republicans, just how malicious Democrats are, since she used to be one and saw the depravity up close.
Maybe Trump will choose Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, or New York Rep. Elise Stefanik. He might turn to Ben Carson, a Cabinet official in his previous administration, South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, or South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem. All would be

At least eight states are planning to ban the sale of new gas-powered cars in the next decade - and others are considering joining them.
Only zero-emission vehicles can be sold in participating states beginning from the 2035 model year, according to the Advanced Clean Cars II legislation.
The rule, which was first adopted by California, means that automakers and dealerships would be banned from selling new gas cars in these states from that point onwards.
Americans will not be forced to take their gas-powered cars off the road, however, and will still be able to buy used and secondhand gas vehicles.
These states have gone further

Former President Donald Trump received criticism for sharing scripture from a supporter who drew a parallel between his ongoing legal battles and Jesus Christ’s persecution.
“Received this morning—Beautiful, thank you!” Trump said on Truth Social, sharing the commentary he received from a supporter.
“It’s ironic that Christ walked through His greatest persecution the very week they are trying to steal your property from you. But have you seen this verse…?” the quote reads, pointing to Psalm 109:3-8.

A 9,000ft bridge in Maryland has collapsed after being struck by a container ship.
Astonishing footage shows the moment the vessel plowed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, sending the colossal steel structure crashing into the Patapsco River, shortly before 1.30am Eastern.
There were no immediate reports of any casualties but there did appear to be traffic on the bridge at the time of the catastrophe. The US Coast Guard and the Maryland Transportation Authority confirmed the crash but provided no further details.
A livestream showed the disaster unfolding, with the vessel plowing into a pile holding up the central part of the bridge. The road and steel arches

Joe Biden told reporters on Tuesday that he hade taken the TRAIN over the Francis Scott Key Bridge “many times.”
Joe Biden: “About 1:30 a container ship struck the Francis Scott Key Bridge which I’ve been over many, many times commuting from the state of Delaware either by train or by car.”
That’s odd, considering their is no rail line on the bridge. The bridge was built for automobiles and trucks.

Early this morning, the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, MD, collapsed after a cargo ship collided with a support column, causing the bridge to collapse. The Francis Scott Key Bridge is a significant commuter route carrying the Baltimore Beltway I-695 over the Patapsco River at the southern end of the Baltimore Harbor.
There are no official reports on casualties yet; however, there are unconfirmed cars in the water and reports of several construction workers unaccounted for. As of just before 5 a.m. EDT, rescue crews have not pulled anyone out of the water. A road crew was fixing potholes on the bridge at the time. Two people were rescued

The Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore collapsed early Tuesday after being hit by a container ship — sending cars plunging into the water in what was quickly declared a mass-casualty event. [Snip] The container ship that crashed into a vital Maryland bridge early Tuesday "lost control" as it was leaving port and warned state officials of a possible collision, security officials said in an unclassified report.

Engineers have blamed the deadly collapse of Baltimore's Francis Scott Key bridge on a design flaw that is present in tens of thousands of US bridges.
Several experts told DailyMail.com that the Maryland bridge was missing critical protection systems that would have stopped the the nearly 105,000 ton container ship from smashing into the bridge's support.
The Francis Scott Key Bridge was built in 1977 and anti-collision devices like fenders or protection cells were not introduced until the 1980s.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. named the Bay Area lawyer, entrepreneur and philanthropist as his running mate. She brings some welcome cash to what will be a costly effort to gain ballot access. Nicole Shanahan is a wild card.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s vice presidential pick doesn’t have the kind of public persona typically associated with politicians. She’s not a frequent-flier on cable news, barely has a social media presence and is interested in some niche policy issues, like reproductive senescence, regenerative agriculture and gut biomes. But what Shanahan, 38, has is an abundance of wealth (which will come in handy as Kennedy mounts an expensive cross-country ballot access effort)

President Biden is jetting into New York on Thursday for a star-studded campaign fundraiser at Radio City Music Hall featuring a raft of celebrity performers and former Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. Pop superstar Lizzo, jazzy rap goddess Queen Latifah and Broadway’s Ben Platt will perform, and the three Democratic powerhouses will sit for a conversation moderated by late-night funnyman Stephen Colbert. First Lady Jill Biden will kick off the gala event, and some donors will get legendary photographer Annie Leibovitz to snap their picture with the three presidents. The event is expected to draw thousands of big and
