The editorial board at Havard University’s student newspaper, the Harvard Crimson, decided to give university president Claudine Gay a bit of a holiday present this weekend. (I’m fairly sure you can’t say “Christmas present” at Harvard these days.) The embattled administrator had already been taking fire and facing calls for her resignation over her antisemitic remarks before Congress and then a mounting pile of evidence that she committed plagiarism multiple times over the course of her career. But the paper’s editorial board stood up for Gay this weekend in an op-ed where a majority of the members concluded that there was no reason for her to resign. And

Hamas’s deputy leader abroad Saleh al-Arouri was killed in an Israeli strike in the Beirut suburb of Dahiyeh, the Hezbollah-linked al-Mayadeen reports.
Israel has not yet commented on the alleged strike.
At a press conference in November, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he had “instructed the Mossad to act against the heads of Hamas wherever they are” in the wake of Hamas’s October 7 assault on southern Israel. At the same press conference, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said all Hamas leaders “are living on borrowed time… The struggle is worldwide.”
Based in Lebanon, al-Arouri, 57, was deputy head of the terror group’s political bureau and considered the de facto leader

Well, well, well. Hamas had insisted in recent days that it would release no hostages until the IDF withdrew from Gaza, a position that left the Israeli government in firm position to reject. After more losses on the battlefield, however, Hamas has had second thoughts.
Now they want a day of cease-fire for every hostage released, but without an IDF withdrawal. And the Israelis say …
Hamas negotiators have waived the condition of a final ceasefire and the withdrawal of IDF soldiers from Gaza in their ongoing talks with Israel for a second hostage release, according to a report by the Arab World News Agency (AWP), citing sources in Hamas.

Looks like electoral mischief might be afoot again.
According to ex-CIA analyst, now professor at Georgetown University Dr. John Gentry, he believes the alphabet agencies will try to interfere in the 2024 election.

"My guess is that the proverbial deep state within the intelligence community will reemerge because presumably a Republican candidate will again be seen as a threat to the internal policies that many intelligence people like."
Gentry termed the effort to downplay the Hunter Biden laptop as "clearly political" and that "in no uncertain terms" it was done "explicitly"

Hateful anti-Israel protesters yelling inflammatory chants snarled traffic and caused chaos as they descended upon John F. Kennedy International Airport Monday – creating a nightmare on one of the busiest travel days of the year.
The Belt Parkway — a major thoroughfare used by vehicles to travel to the airport — was temporarily blocked off by police near Exit 20 as they tried to stem the flow of the “Flood JFK For Gaza” protest, which was planned by Within Our Lifetime, a Palestinian-led activist group.“NYPD, KKK, IDF you’re all the same,” protesters inside an SUV screeched through a megaphone, according to video posted to X.

A couple was killed and numerous other people injured just hours into the New Year when a deranged man driving a car filled with explosives barreled into a crowd leaving a rock concert in upstate New York, police said. Law-enforcement sources initially reported that the crash was being investigated as possible domestic terrorism but said Tuesday there was no terror link.
The fiery crash occurred at 12:50 a.m. outside the Kodak Center in Rochester, where roughly 1,000 people were filing out after a New Year’s Eve moe. show.
Rochester officers were helping pedestrians cross the street when Michael Avery, a suspected bipolar man from Syracuse, sped his rented Ford Expedition

Jimmy Lai, the pro-democracy activist and founder of the Hong Kong-based news outlet Apple Daily, pleaded not guilty on Tuesday to charges of colluding with foreign forces and sedition, declaring his intention to use his high-profile trial to publicly push back against prosecutors’ claims that he worked with Western governments to undermine China’s national security.
Lai was first arrested in August 2020 following Beijing’s imposition of a new Hong Kong “national security law” that was part of a broader crackdown on pro-democracy forces by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Lai’s publication supported the pro-democracy demonstrations and was critical of China’s attempts to silence dissent in Hong Kong.

Harvard University president Claudine Gay was hit with six additional allegations of plagiarism on Monday in a complaint filed with the university, breathing fresh life into a scandal that has embroiled her nascent presidency and pushing the total number of allegations near 50.
Seven of Gay’s 17 published works have already been impacted by the scandal, but the new charges, which have not been previously reported, extend into an eighth: In a 2001 article, Gay lifts nearly half a page of material verbatim from another scholar, David Canon, a political science professor at the University of Wisconsin.

Green Day lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong, a vehement Donald Trump critic, changed the lyrics to one of the band’s most popular songs to take a shot at the former president and his supporters during a New Year’s Eve performance.
While performing the band’s 2004 hit song “American Idiot” Sunday night in Hollywood, Armstrong sang, “I’m not a part of the MAGA agenda” instead of the original lyrics, “I’m not a part of the redneck agenda.” The performance was broadcast on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” on ABC, which was hosted by Ryan Seacrest, who also interviewed President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden on

The Palestinian terrorist group Hamas once again denied that its members committed rape and sexual violence during the October 7 attacks, despite ample evidence from eyewitnesses and forensic evidence recently documented by the New York Times.
The Times of Israel reported Monday:
Hamas refutes the New York Times report on the weaponization of rape and sexual violence during the Gaza terror group’s brutal onslaught against Israel on October 7.
In a statement in Arabic and English, Hamas politburo member Basem Naim claims that the Western media and news agencies are “biased to what the Israeli propaganda says [in terms of] lies and slanders against the Palestinians and their resistance.”
