It looks like the choice for the next Speaker of the House is leaning heavily in favor of Rep. Jim Jordan. Essentially the battle is between Jordan and Rep. Steve Scalise and Jordan is coming out on top.
I may be wrong but the reporting on the speaker’s race has been tilted toward Jordan since he tossed his hat in the ring. On Thursday, Axios reported that McCarthy allies are working to gather support for Jordan, not the traditional choice, which would be Steve Scalise. Scalise is the House Majority Leader and at the top of the party leadership. In normal times, he would be the next speaker.

I don't trust this guy at all. He's great at that coatless, roll-up-the-sleeves ranting, raving and arm-waving, coming off as Mr. Conservative Tough Guy.. All theatrics, all hot air, zero results.
My money says that he's Trey Gowdy II, but we'll see.

They don't want Trump so they will resolve the question of Speaker quickly.

I like the guy. I like what he says. I think he has his eye on the right ball.
I have a hard time differentiating between political reality (eg, there’s no political way the budget can be balanced) vs political expediency (eg, 99% of those who call for a balanced budget don’t actually want one; does that automatically make them RINOs?).
An immediate balanced budget would crater this “constantly increasing debt” structured economy before the passing vote, but there’s no way to get such a vote. So, a gradual plan is needed but this country has no political will for such planning.
I think Trump’s plan was first to stabilize the fundamental pillars of the economy (eg, the military and energy supply) and then to grow out of the deficit. But after such growth, the majority would clamor for more free stuff and we’d be right back here again. Maybe a balanced budget amendment would work.
Right now the Dims are trying to arrest their political enemies and are setting mad criminals loose on society to terrorize. HeilRee wants to set up reeducation camps for Republicans. We are far from rationality.

“ UPDATE: And just like that, Donald Trump enthusiastically endorsed Jim Jordan for speaker late Thursday night on Truth Social. Stick a fork in it, it’s done. Jordan will be Speaker of the House.”
By the logic I’ve seen in some posts here, does this now make President Trump a RINO? 🤐🤭

I like Jordan, but have heard him bloviating for years without one bit of action - subpoena, criminal referral, motion to impeach, etc. I don't know what it is with our Republicans in Congress, but collectively they have the testosterone level of an 8-year-old girl. If he gets the Speakership, I hope he grows a pair. I think the base has had it with talk. Not one of these very guilty idiots involved in the coup against Trump or anything Biden and his minions have done has had any consequences. DO SOMETHING!!!!

As Townsend reports, Jordan is also McCarthy's choice. Pretty much what Sundance said in an article that was skewered by some yesterday.

Our Trump merely endorses the one he is being told is the inevitable, just as with RINO Ronna. If Scalise would have been the #1 that House leadership were pushing, Trump would have said the same thing. It’s his pattern.
Well #2, reliable MAGA insiders on War Room have said the same about JJ the last few years. I believe Mike Davis said he is a show horse not a work horse. I find myself choosing to pray for him, trying to always speak well of him if he is chosen.

To answer #6's rude question, including banned and ugly emogies. I trust President Trump. If he thinks Jordan is the best of the lot that he has to work with, then I'm going to trust his judgement. Perhaps with the leverage of President Trump behind him, Speaker Jordan may surprise us and actually live up to his "wrestler" image. It will be the championship match of his life. Of our lives also.

PDT swallowed his objections and supported McCarthy the last time as a matter of practical politics. I suppose the same here.

Right on, right on #13. I may not always understand everything my President Trump does but HE has earned my trust for a bunch of reasons.

Whoever it is, he had better get Gaetz’s approval or it’s one and done. He’s running things now isn’t he?
