By now everyone is aware how the corruption in Washington DC is fraught with internecine relationships; however, this one takes the proverbial cake. The prosecutor who organized and signed the plea deal for Hunter Biden worked for Hunter Biden’s business partner. Senator Ron Johnson is calling attention to Title 28, Section 45.2 of the Code of Federal Regulations, which says: ‘no employee shall participate in a criminal investigation if he has a personal or political relationship with […] any person or organization substantially involved in the conduct that is the subject of the investigation‘.

I read the statute as forbidding his having anything to do with the investigation. But serving as a prosecutor and arranging a plea deal, while clearly unethical, may not be illegal.

Forecast updates provide a mix of good and bad news. [National Hurricane Center] On the good side, Idalia looks like she will be fast in forward movement as she arrives in Florida. On the bad side of the updates Idalia will be bigger, stronger, and the faster forward movement means the hurricane will be felt further inland potentially into southern Georgia. All advance preparations should be moved to completion within the next 48 hours. Remember, you are in control. There is no need for panic or dark imaginings. Calm, prudent preparations should be taken if you are in the zone of uncertainty.

Between Establishment Reaganism and Insurgent Trumpism

It's not hard to understand why so many Republicans admire Ronald Reagan. "The Great Communicator" sparked a conservative revival that fractured the remnants of the left-wing New Deal coalition. As president, he helped end the Soviet Union, winning the Cold War. Forty-three years after the Reagan Revolution, and eight years after former President Donald J. Trump changed the game again, none of the Republicans who convened for the first presidential primary debate on Aug. 23 repudiated President Reagan. Even President Trump cited a move by President Reagan as precedent for his decision to skip the debate.

Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has defended a Soros scholarship he accepted, claiming it came at a time when he “didn’t have the money” to pay for Yale Law School. But there is one problem with that argument. According to reports, the entrepreneur was already a multi-millionaire when he took it. "There was a separate scholarship that I won at the age of 24-25, when I was going to law school in my mid-20s, in my early 20s, when I didn't have the money and it was a merit scholarship that hundreds of kids win, that was partially funded, not by George Soros, but by Paul Soros a relative,

In August 1966, communist leader Mao Zedong commenced “Red August,” a campaign amidst the wider Cultural Revolution to wipe away the “Four Olds” of Chinese society: old ideas, old culture, old customs, and old habits. The outsized rule of juveniles and young adults in the subsequent massacres perpetrated by the Red Guards was not at all unique. As flames tore through a West Maui neighborhood, car after car of fleeing residents headed for the only paved road out of town in a desperate race for safety. One family swerved around the barricade and was safe in a nearby town 48 minutes later, another drove their four-wheel-drive car down a dirt road to escape. One man took a dirt road uphill, climbing above the fire and watching as Lahaina burned. He later picked his way through the flames, smoke and rubble to pull survivors to safety.

At least seven prosecutors in the Delaware U.S. Attorney’s Office reportedly donated to Democrats during the Hunter Biden probe, raising concerns of partisanship and preferential treatment. As scrutiny mounts on Special Counsel David Weiss, who serves as U.S. Attorney for Delaware and agreed to a sweetheart plea deal with Hunter Biden after five years of investigation, a Washington Examiner analysis found that at least seven prosecutors in Weiss’s office donated to Democrats. Not one prosecutor donated to a Republican, the analysis revealed. The partisan donations come as many within the Delaware U.S. Attorney’s Office appear to have deep ties to the Bidens.

Federal revenue dropped $416 billion compared to this time last year, according to recently released U.S. Treasury Department data, despite the Democrats’ passage of their $780 billion Inflation Reduction Act last year. The legislation, which President Biden signed in August 2022, contained a 15% minimum corporate income tax, which still hasn't been fully implemented by the IRS. Experts at the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget and the Tax Foundation told Just the News that most of the revenue raising provisions in the IRA have not taken effect yet but they likely won't raise much revenue given the price-tag of the energy-related tax credits in the bill.
