The PGA Tour has announced it will be merging operations under a single owner with its rival, the Saudi-backed LIV Golf, as well as the DP World Tour, formerly known as the European Tour. "After two years of disruption and distraction, this is a historic day for the game we all know and love," PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan said in a statement. "This transformational partnership recognizes the immeasurable strength of the PGA TOUR's history, legacy and pro-competitive model and combines with it the DP World Tour and LIV – including the team golf concept – to create an organization that will benefit golf's players, commercial and charitable partners and fans.

Pardon my ignorance but why must they merge? Why can’t there be 2 leagues? Isn’t this simply a new monopoly?

So all that Shite that Monahan has said about the LIV was Bull Shite? Should Monahan be replaced with Greg Norman? Yes he should. Norman was right all along.

I didn't see this coming - but who did? Most of the players who jumped to LIV were paid a ton of money, and those who remained loyal to the PGA Tour got nothing out of the deal. There's bound to be some bad feelings.

The PGA's big mistake was allowing players who defected to the Saudis to play in PGA events. Should have been no Masters, no US Open, nothing.

I did not see this happening either. I like the PGA format of mostly 72-hole tournaments in medal play. LIV, of course, stands for 54-hole tournaments, and stupid concept of team play. If they somehow merge those concepts, I think the casual fan will lose interest. But, I suppose the name of the game, as with all sports now, is gambling. Very infuriating to a purist like me.

Re #8: Neither the Masters nor the U.S. Open is associated with the PGA Tour or the PGA of America. If the PGA tried to keep LIV players out of those two major tournaments, they'd be successfully sued out of business, and would deserve their bitter medicine. PGA Tour commissioner Monahan made the wrong choice and now really should go. Fatal mistake. I also didn't like seeing the president of the PGA of America refusing to shake hands with Brooks Koepka after Koepka won the PGA. No class should be gone, too.

I respectfully disagree, #8. The PGA screwed up by getting its panties in a twist and barring LIV golfers from PGA events. (The PGA response should be studied in B-school along with Coke Classic, Gillette, and Bud-Lite). In order to keep their PGA tour cards, the LIV golfers would still have needed to fulfill their PGA tournament obligation. But the PGA shut out some of the golfers the fans most wanted to see. Why? Were they really afraid of people queuing up to see what really did amount to an exhibition match? No, people want to see their heroes, in person in the flesh. So a few golfers made some more shekels. Good for them. Golly, I thought Tiger and (punk) Rory would like that. In the past many years I watched every PGA tournament, Thursday through Sunday; this year I watched the Masters. Period. The PGA screwed up mightily.

The latest Twitter Files suggest the FBI helped Ukrainian intelligence in an effort to encourage Twitter to censor users, even American journalists. The Grayzone News host Aaron Maté unleashed the latest installment of The Twitter Files on June 7 in a thread that Twitter Files journalist Matt Taibbi called “perhaps the most damning about the FBI.” Maté reported the evidence, both on Twitter and Substack: “The FBI aided a Ukrainian intelligence effort to ban Twitter users and collect their data, leaks reveal. Twitter declined to censor journalists targeted by Ukraine, including Aaron Maté.” This newly released evidence once again implicates the U.S. government in an anti-free speech censorship plot

We need a new leader for a changing economy. That’s why I’m announcing my run for president today,” added Burgum, who is also hosting his launch event on Wednesday.

A heavy police presence attempted to stop the fighting, violently pulling apart combatants to prevent serious injury. Someone with a bullhorn shouts, “Do not engage! Step away. Noonan argues that electing Donald Trump again would destroy the Republican party. Peggy may be right, and I hope that she is. Trump’s success in 2016 was, in large part, due to the way that he took the mechanisms of the Republican political machine and used them to secure victory. He ran a third-party-style campaign within the structure of the Republican party. The “party” as a corporate entity was against him, but grassroots Republicans in name and philosophy were all in for candidate Donald Trump.
