Manhattanhenge 2023: How to see New York
City’s famous sunset on Memorial Day

New York City residents and tourists are in for a treat this Memorial Day as the phenomenon known as Manhattanhenge is set to appear for the first time this year in the city. Manhattanhenge, first coined by astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson in 1997, only occurs four times a year – twice in May and twice in July. The spectacle occurs when the sun lines up with Manhattan's grid streets, creating a perfectly aligned sunset. "It’s insanely popular," American Museum of Natural History astrophysicist Jackie Faherty told USA TODAY in 2020. "People plan their vacations around coming to NYC to see it."

I’ll take our country sunsets. Is the sun setting in alignment with buildings really that big of a deal? Or are people that easily influenced?

There is nothing whatsoever that I want to see in or from Manhattan. I've been there a number of times, seen all the tourist stuff I wanted to see, including the remains of the twin towers. I don't intend to ever go there again.

Elizabeth Holmes is going to prison. Will

After several failed attempts to delay her time behind bars, Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes is set to report to federal prison this week. The disgraced entrepreneur was sentenced to over 11 years in prison and ordered to pay $452m (£365m) with her former business partner Sunny Balwani to dozens of high-profile investors they defrauded through a blood-testing start-up. It's a sizeable bill for the former billionaire, who has claimed she does not even have enough money to pay her lawyers. In US federal court, convicted offenders are sometimes ordered to pay restitution. This is a reimbursement to victims for lost income, property damage, medical expenses or other financial costs related to the crime.
Turkey elections: What to expect from

Recep Tayyip Erdogan may have serenaded his supporters by singing off-key after his victory - but he is pitch perfect when it comes to fighting elections. He read the electorate better than the pollsters and analysts, who suggested he could be beaten by the opposition. Well, not this time. His opponent - Kemal Kilicdaroglu - was just four percentage points behind him. No doubt President Erdogan will be reflecting on that as he starts his third term in office. This strategic Nato nation has chosen its path, most voters opting for a seasoned autocrat rather than an untested democrat in the form of Mr Kilicdaroglu.

You can spot Turkey's global strategic significance - which has starkly increased against the backdrop of the Ukraine war - by the A-list potpourri of world leaders who rushed to congratulate Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his election win on Sunday night. First out of the box was Russian President Vladimir Putin. He was so keen to stroke the ego of his Turkish counterpart and fellow "strongman" leader that he didn't even wait for the official results of the vote before singling out Mr Erdogan's "independent foreign policy" as a reason for his victory.

We are accustomed to defining racism as discrimination aimed exclusively at black people and other minorities. The definition must be expanded to include discrimination against whites, which is just as bad as discrimination against blacks or anyone else. What the political left calls “anti-racism” is really code language for racism against white people. An anti-white racial inquisition is poisoning America by contributing to an already divided nation. According to Gallup, the percentage of Americans who agree that black-white relations are good is at a 20-year low. A noted black college professor said, “We have to exterminate white people off the face of the planet.”

A new video exposes Maricopa County’s secret machine tampering, where they reprogrammed the voting machines on October 14th, 17th, and 18th so that 59% of them would fail when Republican voters came in to vote on Election Day in 2022. As The Gateway Pundit recently reported, newly available records show that Maricopa County began “secret” Logic and Accuracy testing on October 14th, after the statutorily required October 11th test, and the legally required public notice was not given.

Under the guise of good social medicine, liberals and leftists have poisoned the culture with the colossal lie that “whiteness” is the culprit behind a “400-year pandemic of foundational racism” that’s keeping America sick. It’s being perpetrated by whites through “antiquated systems of oppression.” Whiteness, the creation of white people of European descent, they say, is a lopsided “system of privileges and advantages” that favors whites at the expense of people of color “through government policies, media portrayal, decision-making power with our corporations, schools, judicial systems, etc.”

There’s a popular meme that only two defining forces have offered to die for you - Jesus Christ for your soul and the American soldier for your freedom. There is no man who can ever compare with Christ but there is a kernel of truth to this meme. Shortly before his crucifixion, Jesus told his disciples, “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one more than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” This is what military volunteers are prepared to do.

A fight between Ted Cruz and AOC simply is not a fair one given the wide gulf in intellect between the two. This all came into view Tuesday. Before their little spat, a liberal “political scientist” named Norm Ornstein smeared Cruz by saying the Texas senator would have been “first in line” to filibuster the Civil Rights Act and Jim Crow. Cruz, who is the exact opposite of a racist, pointed out the obvious: Ornstein’s Democratic Party filibustered the Civil Rights Act while Republicans supported it in overwhelming numbers.

As Durham’s Report exposes the lies about RussiaGate and the truth about Obama using the FBI as his personal police unfolds, there is one silence that roars above the white noise of denial. George Walker Bush has not said a word. Not one darned word. He has been one silent lamb while the Democrat Party ran roughshod over our political institutions — weaponizing the IRS, the FBI, FISA, the media, the courts and the border. Hundreds of Trump’s voters were jailed over a protest at the Capitol over the counting of the votes and we have not heard his protest. Indeed, Bush has condemned these protesting patriots as threats to America.

It’s more obvious by the day that Leftists have a taste for authoritarianism, but Hanoi Jane Fonda makes it even more obvious than others do. Fresh from calling for the murder of pro-lifers, Jane has now blamed the mythical crisis of climate change on the Left’s all-purpose bogeymen, white males. And what does the star of Barbarella think ought to be done with these villains? Why, they must be imprisoned, of course. Then, while the world’s white guys are rattling their tin cups against the bars, women and “people of color” can pool their efforts and save the world. Just like in the movies.

Some conservatives have suggested a boycott of Chick-fil-A after the fast-food chain was discovered to have a vice president of “diversity, equity, [and] inclusion,” or DEI. Modeling care for others starts in the restaurant, and we are committed to ensuring mutual respect, understanding, and dignity everywhere we do business.” DEI is a set of principles that large corporations, government agencies, and schools have increasingly incorporated into their work environments, often mandating employees receive

Republicans are moving forward with contempt charges against FBI Director Chris Wray after he failed to hand over an internal document that they claim shows President Joe Biden was involved in a $5 million 'criminal' scheme with a foreign national. Tuesday marked the deadline for the agency to turn over an internal unclassified FD-1023 form that apparently details an 'arrangement' for an exchange of money for policy decisions between then-Vice President Biden and a foreign national. The Republicans issued a subpoena on May 4 for the document first brought to their attention by a 'credible' whistleblower and

"This could be a promotional summer the likes we haven’t seen since after Hurricane Katrina in 2005, where there was so much beer inventory backed up in the trade that it initiated the price war of all price wars," Beer Business Daily said, explaining that "large price wars are often sparked by external events—in that case Hurricane Katrina, and in this case Hurricane Mulvaney." A cursory examination of history reveals that the United States is mired in the same process that precipitated the collapse of the great empires of the past. The foibles and failures of human nature and their impact on the rise and fall of empires is amazingly consistent and the end result always inevitable. Can this nation avoid a similar fate? Empires are defined as great military and economic powers encompassing large occupied or controlled land areas. Although they vary greatly, they average around 250 years in duration. The United States will be celebrating its 250th anniversary in 2026.

The pipeline has been embattled in the courts. In a statement, Manchin thanked McCarthy. “I am pleased Speaker McCarthy and his leadership team see the tremendous value in completing the MVP to increase domestic energy production and drive down costs across America and especially in West Virginia.

At least nine people, including a one-year-old child and two other minors, were injured in a Memorial Day shooting on a packed Florida boardwalk. Authorities say a dispute between two groups ended in gunfire at around 6.45pm Monday in the area of the 1200 block of North Boardwalk in Hollywood Beach, north of Miami. One suspect has been detained, while another is still at large. An online video showed the moment gunfire erupted on the popular hotspot. The crowd frantically scattered for cover and away from danger when gunshots started to ring out near the Margaritaville resort.
