Justice Neil Gorsuch has penned a passionate polemic against the emergency powers that were widely used during the Covid-19 pandemic, saying that while they may have solved some problems, they created many others. Gorsuch’s statement came in the Supreme Court’s final word on the effort of a group of states to challenge the end of Title 42, which allowed migrants to be expelled on public-health grounds. Last December, the conservative justices blocked the administration from lifting Title 42 and scheduled oral arguments. However, the justices removed the case from the argument calendar in February after the Biden administration announced it planned to end

More and more the dummies in this country are okay with diktats from the 'leader' and imposition of nationwide 'rulings' by tyrants in black robes. As this country becomes more and more occupied by criminal invaders who are used to Kings and Dictators it will becomes worse. We were intended to be governed by laws written by elected representatives. An uprising, revolt, and civil war is maybe the only solution and needs to occur soon before it is too late.

So true. It was during the pandemic that Trump lost control of his presidency. If Trump wins a second term, expect his enemies to come up with another 'crisis' that will be used to take power away from him. It might be another pandemic, but that would probably be too obvious. They will come up with something else that will severely impact 100 million people.

The Democrats did not allow the emergency to go to waste. They stole the 2020 election for the presidency, and 3 Senate seats, and established communism as the rule of the land. You will decide or own nothing.

#2, I am not so certain about your statement of Trump losing control of his presidency during this time. As I recall in January or February, he took steps to limit airline travel from and to China. Reasonable move. I believe that when the Democrat's attempt to impeach him once again failed, they looked to the flu as their next move. Remember, that was always in Barack Obama's back pocket to be used when all else failed. My assessment would be that Donald Trump always thought he could work both sides and when Barack Obama is on one side, no you can't.

Maybe the honorable SCOTUS justice is just late to the party. Those of us old enough to have come through all the other pandemics, saw this one as merely an attempt to capture people and feed them Fear Porn. In the mid 1940's it was the polio epidemic, pandemic or whatever they called it then. Is there anyone here beside me who actually knew someone on an Iron Lung?

How about "Breathtaking AbUse of Emergency Powers During Covid to steal the 2020 election". There! That looks, sounds, smells, AND tastes more accurate!

We need to REMOVE these "emergency powers" from the people who abused them.
No longer can it be acceptable to "trust" these governors, etc to do these things "because they are sensible and reasonable people" because we have incontrovertible proof that they are NOT 'sensible and reasonable' but largely totalitarian thugs anxious to be able to order people around like the pompous little Mussolinis that they are.

#3; I'm no scholar but I don't think Supremes can, nor should, be taking sides by opinion before an issue is brought before them. It completely distorts a case if it reached them.

AFAIK, the SCOTUS cannot do anything to stop these eggregious overstepping of powers in "real time". They can only accept properly "put together" or "framed" lawsuits (?) about specific acts and these are rarely very timely, either.
States need to explicitly and unambiguously block their executives from having these emergency powers, by writing and passing carefully written laws which say that they do not have these powers, and they must be clear with NO loopholes. Forgetting about it now will leave the next 'mini-Mussolini' an open invitation to do this crap again.

SO SCOTUS, why the hell do you set up rules that say a case has to come before you before you act?
You make your own rules, so why not interject SCOTUS into any ILLEGAL process being done by Congress or any Agency or even the President...CANCEL THE BAD Decisions, PERIOD!

Funny how Gorsuch is mentioning the excessive use, and many times, abusive use, of the emergency powers during the COVID period.
And, how those powers remained in place even when there really was no need, but certainly after many governors changed rules, laws and procedures to impact the 2020 election.
I would suspect emergency changes end when the emergency is over, thus, unless the legislatures changed election laws to match the emergency-use changes, the previous existing laws and statutes should be the procedures that should be followed.

Well, gee, Neil, maybe if you and your pals on the SCOTUS had taken on the cases of the voter fraud in the 2020 election, a lot of this would not have happened. Yes, the abuses started in 2020 but Xiden and crew continued and upped them in 2021.

Excuse 2nd post. Another Ldotter commenting on the COVID-19 debacle mentioned a book (Pandemia: how coronavirus hysteria took over our government, rights, and lives. Berenson - Regnery Publishing - 2021). I borrowed the book from our public library to find out if I was succumbing to fear porn, or if it indeed was a case of ''something wicked this way comes.''
IMO, Berenson could not have had a better publisher.

This whole mess started when the Democrats stole the election for Biden and the SCOTUS refused to hear the case.
