CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. — U.S. Rep. George Santos, the New York Republican infamous for fabricating key parts of his life story, was arrested Wednesday on federal criminal charges ahead of an expected court appearance. The indictment says Santos induced supporters to donate to a company under the false pretense that the money would be used to support his campaign. Instead, it says, he used it for personal expenses, including luxury designer clothes and to pay off his credit cards. Santos also is accused of lying about his finances on congressional disclosure forms and applying for and receiving unemployment benefits while he was employed as regional director of an investment firm

I wonder if they can remember what year these "crimes" occurred in. That minor detail seems to no longer be important in NY.

So, in other words, he's a politician. If he's guilty of all that he's being accused of he's also stupid for running as a Republican.

Reminds me of the old Tom Lehrer line in which he talks about a man "who was engaged for years in animal husbandry. . .until they caught him at it." The only thing separating Santos from every other Congressprson in history is. . .they caught him at it.

When will Republicans ever learn? In order to stay in Washington D.C. you have to drive a car off a bridge, leave the woman who was riding with you to drown without making any attempt to save her, then wait 9 hours before you report the accident. THEN you will have true job security.

Not defending Santos, but I'm sure it's totally coincidental that these charges were announced last night, with the House Oversight Committee announcing their Biden corruption findings this morning. No way the DOJ would try to help to distract from Biden's corruption.

This is proof that the FBI and the Justice Department really is capable of prompt action after all--when it fits their political agenda of supporting the democrat party objectives. Matters that reflect badly on democrats, however; seem to get put in a safe place in the FBI building and forgotten about.

Wow! Washington — A federal judge in Virginia invalidated a set of federal restrictions that prohibit people under the age of 21 years old from purchasing a handgun from federally licensed firearm dealers, finding the rules violate the Second Amendment. In a 65-page decision issued Wednesday, U.S. Senior District Judge Robert Payne ruled in favor of four men who are over the age of 18 but not yet 21 and want to purchase handguns. One of the men, John "Corey" Fraser, attempted to buy a Glock 19x handgun from a federal firearm licensed dealer in May 2022, but was denied the purchase because of his age.

With Title 42 set to expire Thursday, the White House announced on Wednesday a new set of sweeping rules to curb the anticipated influx of illegal migrants. The Biden administration will now begin denying entry to all migrants who do not first seek asylum in a transit country or apply for protection in America using an online form before arriving at the border. Moreover, Venezuelan, Haitian, Cuban, and Nicaraguan nationals caught illegally crossing the Southern border will be deported back to Mexico. Complimenting these new initiatives, the White House has disclosed plans to open at least 100 regional processing centers while granting 30,000 humanitarian exceptions to the new asylum rules per month.

Jason Poje, a felony trial attorney with the Cook County State Attorney’s Office, sent the letter to 85 colleagues on Friday as he headed out the door, explaining that he was departing because of several progressive reforms that have made the city more dangerous for everyone, Fox News reported.

Vladimir Putin’s annual Victory Day parade in Moscow meant to showcase Russia’s military might failed to impress Tuesday, with critics poking fun at the lone World War II-era tank that was seen rolling forlornly through Red Square. The event celebrating Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany in 1945 was a drastically pared-down affair compared to years past, featuring a mere 8,000 soldiers — the lowest number since 2008. Even the procession in 2020, at the height of the COVID pandemic, featured some 13,000 soldiers. Last May, more than a month into the invasion of Ukraine, 11,000 troops took part in the parade. This time, there was no fly-over of fighter jets,

The Biden family and its business associates created a complicated web of more than 20 companies, according to bank records obtained by the House Oversight Committee — a system GOP lawmakers say was meant to conceal money received from foreign nationals. The Biden family, their business associates, and their companies received more than $10 million from foreign nationals’ and their related companies, the records show.
