Department of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm said Wednesday that she supports efforts from the Biden administration to require the U.S. military to implement an all-electric vehicle fleet by 2030, telling lawmakers that she believes "we can get there."
Granholm's remarks came during a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing following questions from Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, who asked the Biden administration official whether she supports the military's adoption of an "EV fleet by 2030."
"I do, and I think we can get there, as well"

Jennifer Granholm is a first-class moron. The “battered wife” voters of Michigan installed her as governor about 20 years ago; she nearly tanked the whole state before they smartened up and threw her out.

Cynically, I can imagine an Abrams tank running on electricity, can you? What does it do . . . pull up to the battle line and start a fire with it's Ion battery? IMHO, of course!

There is NO WAY this madness should continue.
The technology is not ready to abandon fossil fuels
Who has most of the World's lithium needed to make the batteries which need recharging and don't last?
CHYNA, not U.S.
This Mother Earth madness will make U.S. National Security DEFENSELESS!

Let's try electric cars for the generals (and above) and government cars.
When that is a success, think about military vehicles.

So, we will have an entire military force unable to go anywhere because the sun didn't shine, and they have no electricity to charge their vehicles.
Or, do we have a special mobile diesel generator to which the vehicles can connect for a charge?
I am astounded by the sheer stupidity of those who think they are 'elite'!

Maybe we CAN get there, but the real question is SHOULD we get there? Just because we can replace 100% of our military vehicles with electric versions, that doesn't mean they'd actually be combat effective after the first several hours of a war. There's a reason combat vehicles are made to last. Efficiency of carbon neutrality isn't the same as efficiency as a wartime piece of equipment.

You can't transition DoD's fleet to EVs without bringing combat effectiveness to zero. Perhaps that's this administration's plan, in which case it makes perfect sense that in 2022, Biden transferred over one-third of our Strategic Petroleum Reserve to China.

Granholm was looking through a Sharper Image catalogue and saw one of those remote control toy cars with solar panels on it. That gave here the idea to do this along with a list of Democrat donors who will benefit from changing to all electric vehicles.

This is insanity tripled down. Either they know it could never happen and spout it for unknown reasons, or they DO know and want us to be invaded like France was.
Poster #4: IQ of 100 is about the average. I'd rather have our government run by people of average intelligence than the crazy btards we have there now. The country may never pull out of this steep dive.

Besides the stupidity of her comments, why is the Energy Secretary commenting on Defense matters? From the DOE.gov website today:
As United States Secretary of Energy, Jennifer M. Granholm leads an agency tasked with maintaining a safe, secure and effective nuclear deterrent and reducing the threat of nuclear proliferation, overseeing the United States’ energy supply, carrying out the environmental clean-up from the Cold War nuclear mission, and the 17 National Laboratories.

New tanks will come with their own Hoover Dams for recharging. Not sure how this will work while fending off conventional Chinese tanks. But, eight hours to recharge a tank or self-propelled howitzer is a small price to pay for following directives from the Democrat party. The woke schlubs in the Pentagon are renaming military bases. Next up...Fort Hanoi Jane and Fort Benedict Arnold.

The fact that nobody in DoD management has not had the guts or brains to speak up about the Supreme stupidity of making all military vehicles EVs is unbelievable.
I guess they expect the enemy to agree to a ceasefire every time the vehicles have to stop and recharge.

In the heat of battle or in the planning of a military campaign to win a battle, climate change should not be a consideration. Winning the battle with the least amount of US casualties should be the goal. Most people aren't too worried about the environment when in the heat of battle. They are worried about staying alive.

Powering an Abrams tank for 8 typical hours would require 4121430 lithium cells weighing 69 tons…more than the tank itself, tho the 1 ton of fuel would not be necessary, and the 1.1 ton gas turbine would not be necessary…an electric engine would add a half ton.

Perhaps she should learn that the job of the military is to kill enemies and break things. You don't need electric vehicles to do that, in fact, they will work to your detriment. Just imagine crossing a river with an electric tank and it shorts out.

This is just further proof of what I found out when I joined the Navy back in the late 80s. That democrats HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA about the United States Military. Not the structure, funding, logistics, equipment, weapons and vehicles. Lastly and most important it's personnel. They think like John "I served in Vietnam" Kerry that our good men and women are losers who join because they're too dumb to go to college. Just to get stuck in places like Iraq. Or like John "Flying Ace" McCain who believe the same men and women don't deserve not only good pay but benefits such as the NEX or Tricare. Of course, that idiots Jennifer "Dumbo" Granholm think that an electric Abrams tank, C17 plane or a patrol boat is a great idea. However, those of us who live in realville know better.

Perhaps you foolishly thought that the purpose of the US military is to win if major conflicts arise. Not so. Its purpose is to engage in empty symbolic gestures about "saving the planet".
