On Friday, Tucker Carlson dropped a sneak peek of his interview with Elon Musk that will air in full on Monday evening.
In the short clip posted to Twitter, Elon warns that artificial intelligence could lead to the destruction of civilization.“AI is more dangerous than, say, mismanaged aircraft design or production maintenance or bad car production,” he said. “In the sense that it has the potential — however small one may regard that probability, but it is non-trivial — it has the potential of civilization destruction.”

AI has a rival. He is a dumber than dumb vegetable who resides somewhere near a bathroom in the WH!

if you read up on the unchaperoned freakazoids running these A i programmes straight out of control--
you'd see that which has the 'potential for the destruction of civilisation. '

"Potential" is the key word here. Currently, human beings are doing a fine job of destroying their own civilization. Computers aren't greedy, power hungry and bloodthirsty.

Terminator was a Prophecy, not an Action-Adventure movie.

What it could mean is that AI can write something you supposedly said, sign your actual signature, and publish it in YOUR name. Then what will you do? Deny it? Yeah, right! It ain't called the Beast, for nothing.

I don't believe it. All the "AI" I have seen is a combo of BS marketing hype, basically lies, with some semi-fraudulent clever programming behind it.
NO "intelligence" whatsoever to any of it.

"AI" is real, to some extent. I expect we will regret ever giving autonomy to any so-called expert system, though. Having "self-driving" cars is already too much in my view.

AI is created and driven by human intelligence, with all the biases incorporated. You have to read the answers as critically as you would read the NYTs. AI is as accurate as those climate change algorithms created to give the answers the model builders wanted.

Why is it that every time I see AI mentioned, I think of “The Matrix”?

Actually, on a certain level humans are becoming more robotic and robots are becoming more human. I think in the future the twain shall meet and the line between the 2 worlds will blur. The "units" from either side will be able to cross into each others' realms at will, moving in and out of their own reality. Maybe not in my lifetime, but likely in my kids'. Remember, if someone had told us 25 years ago that we'd soon be freely communicating with complete strangers from around the world, we'd have questioned their sanity.

Nope. 'AI' is NOT real. What is being touted as 'artificial intelligence' is simply more and more
complex programs that IMITATE intelligence ! The damn things are STILL binary adding
machines and that IS NOT how the human mind ( or any other mind for all we know ) works !
The machines today cannot ever vocalize a script, watch YouTube clips for examples, without
frequent mispronunciation ( emPHAsis on the wrong sylABLES ! ) and THIS is what is going
to 'take over the world' ??
I don't think so Sparky. They are going to have to get a WHOLE LOT better for that to happen.
The biggest problem we face is now is the startling number of people who blindly trust and
believe that computers are, all knowing, infallible, can be trusted with our ( your ) lives ( see
self driving cars ), and 'have all the answers' to our problems buried in their 'chips'.
THAT is what needs to change, blind ignorance ( in the truest sense of the word ) and a lack
of ANY critical thinking !!
