There were more that 150,000 catalytic converter thefts in 2022, a 2% increase from the previous year. The number one model targeted for these thefts in the US is the Toyota Prius. There’s a reason for that.
The critical piece of automobile tech is used to filter out harmful byproducts from your car’s exhaust. They use precious metals like platinum, palladium and rhodium to accomplish this. Those metals can sell for hundreds to thousands of dollars per ounce.
A catalytic converter can be sold for anywhere from $25 to $300 for an average vehicle, Carfax says, and up to $1,400 for hybrid vehicles.

My daughter lived in Oakland for 8 years and moved away three weeks ago. Her catalytic converter was stolen, Rear window smashed and things stolen from her car and the license registration sticker was stolen from her license plate. Enough was enough.

You are all welcome in Texas and Florida IF you also leave any liberal politics back with your stolen cataytic converter back in California.
Although my wife, a Texas native, isn't as hospitable. She'd prefer Texas build a border wall. On our northern, eastern, and western borders.

The story is drowning in cliche. Two rug munchers have bad luck with their Prius in San Francisco.

Yeah yeah. We all know how beautiful and wonderful California is. I'm sure if you drowned all the weirdos in the ocean you could divide the state up among a couple dozen people.
We've all seen the California refugees. They move to a farming or ranching area with their grey pony tails, their spandex shorts and sun glasses, their mountain bikes and motorhomes, and they outbid locals on the houses because they got a couple mil for their shacks in CA. Then they vote for the very same people and policies that made them flee in the first place. Or worse, they get on school boards and city councils and ruin good communities from the inside. Seen it too many times. They ruined New Mexico. The most dreaded thing we could see there was a California license plate.
I fled NM and live in the east now, in one of the freer states (for now). The only difference is we dread the New York plates, for all the same reasons.

But that's not all...if you're black, get ready for your slavery reparations checks from San Fran. Your tax base will just love that.

A question arises, if everybody in San Francisco is gay or some flavor of LGBTQXYZ, how do they produce any children to become future taxpayers? The city should be empty in a few decades except for the alleged descendants of slaves driving Ferraris and Lambos on the crumbling freeways.

Wow #4. So sorry that was your experience with Californians. I don’t doubt it though - New Mexico was always favored by liberals as a destination. I don’t know why. Kind of like Austin Texas is now.
I am a refugee Californian. I call myself that because I was DRIVEN out, not willingly. It became so unsafe to remain and be a conservative. I never would have left my native state had it remained the way it was in my childhood. I brought my conservative voting with me - I hope here in my new home that makes a difference.

Californians ruined Colorado as well.

This is nothing new. I nearly lost my catalytic converter 11 years ago. The would-be thieves sawed through the front exhaust pipe but didn’t make it through the rear pipe. Either they were scared off, or they forgot to bring an extra Sawzall blade - most new exhaust pipes are stainless steel, and will dull a blade in nothing flat.
California should treat this problem like they treat guns: just outlaw battery-powered reciprocating saws!
And yes, #8, they've ruined Colorado. They’re the ones who elected our current governor, the Fairy Prince.
