This is one of the most amazing videos you will see, especially considering the noxious figure at the center of it.
Angela Davis is one of most infamous communists in American history. For over five decades, she has advocated for the abolition of capitalism in America and for Marxist dictatorships around the globe.
In addition to her communism, she was one of the founders of critical race theory, which teaches that white people are responsible for America’s sins and ongoing problems. Prominent critical race theorist Ibram X. Kendi has quoted her at length in his hate-filled books.

My ancestors arrived in 1621 on the ship Fortune, which means Angela Davis' ancestors were here before we were.

Well hmmmm. What now Angela? Will you recant all the racial garbage you’ve been spewing for years since you were talking about yourself? It’s going to take you a minute to figure out how to slither out of this.

I watched the episode. She was also informed that one of her great great great grandfathers was a slaveowner who had children with one of his female slaves. She surmised about rape being involved, until census records indicated that he had left his wife and was living with the slave and mixed-race children.
As horrible and wrong as slavery was, the current people who call themselves ''African Americans'' would never have been born if it were not for slavery. They were not damaged by slavery or its' legacy, they are a biproduct of it.

What's "shocking" is anyone's being surprised that vast numbers of "blacks" in this country have some percentage of "white" in their ancestry; from a small amount to a considerable amount. And yet, in this horribly racist country that is so inimical to blacks at every level, these same people strive to be seen and treated as only black. There must be some advantage in doing that, no?

Because slaves didn't "build America".
Americans built America.
And they were proud of what they were able to do.
And they were proud of themselves.

Why does it surprise anyone that a lady who has been using blacks as pawns her whole life comes from slave owners on both sides of her family?
Kamala is the direct descendant of an infamous Jamaican slave trader. She lived in the family home, obtained by slave labor.
Obama’s tribe rounded up Africans (still does, actually) and sold them to Arab traders.
Enslaving blacks — by either chains and whips — or now, soft power — is what Democrats do. Enslaving others is the basis of their party.

First of all, you can tell by looking at her that she has white blood. Duh!
Second, her reaction is priceless. Watching a racist's world come crashing down around them is fun!
Third, how did PBS actually air this?

I usually watch this show but when they said Angela Davis and Jey Johnson were the two who were researched, I walked away and continued to watch the paint dry. Slave history is complicated. Rarely reported on, Irish women were early on imported to this country and Caribbean islands then bred to African men because the offspring could easily be identified and categorized as the permanent slave class as opposed to white children who could more easily slip away.

It will take half our federal budget to track down who is actually entitled to reparations.

If she was so surprised then she is completely ignorant of basic science. No one who is pure black has skin as fair as hers. She’s ignorant about a lot of other things too.

Couldn't this also just be another shot at positioning "poc"s
as the rightful "owners' of America?

I suspect many, if not most, "black" people in our country who aren't actually pitch black have some slave-holders as ancestors. Let them pay themselves reparations. It's called getting a job.

I tape this show, and watch when able, but do like it very much.
It's surprised a number of diehard liberals over the years. John Alberto Leguizamo Peláez, was one in particular, who found out his ancestry traced back to those Spanish colonizers of South America. One of the key players, in fact.
Another discovered her relative immigrated from Barbados, so was not part of the slave trade in America, and was surprised they CHOSE to come to America despite being black.

As I recall Gates discovered the zero, aka The One, was descended from the first known slave in America through his mother's heritage. Does everyone Gates researches have some "surprise" in their lineage?
Am I descended from Ghengis Khan?

It would be just right to find out that she was the product of rape by a black man and a white woman who came over on the Mayflower!
