Sheriff’s deputy? A hug

Macomb County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call for a safety check on a driver pulled off to the side of the road, only to find a man in need of some emotional support. Deputies found the man, referred to by authorities by the pseudonym "Joe," on the side of a quiet road overcome by tears. Joe was on his way to work when he decided to pull off the road because he was feeling overwhelmed by stress, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office. In bodycam footage of the interaction, one deputy is heard asking him what they can do to help, Joe responds, "I could use a hug."

Comments:

God bless these deputies and prayers for “Joe”.

Three good men. Two good police officers proving that it doesn’t always have to be a hard to save a life and be a hero. Every person with a good heart has the capability of providing a hug, and sharing time & kindness with someone in need. God has already blessed these men. May He continue to bless them more.

Following all the lunacy of the last two days revolving around the leaked draft decision overturning Roe v. Wade, the White House let the president out of the basement on Wednesday. What transpired was a despicable, lie-filled speech in which Joe Biden dishonestly spoke of the Supreme Court, Trump supporters, and the economy. Let’s start with the clip that is currently going viral in which Biden claimed the “MAGA crowd” is the “most extreme political organization that’s existed in American history.”

By the time FDA officials figured out it was spinach that was making people sick in 10 states – sending three people into kidney failure – it was too late. It was mid-November 2021 and the packaged salad’s short shelf life had passed. There was no recall. By the time FDA officials got inspectors on the ground, spinach season was over. The fields and the production facilities were empty, which made it impossible to pinpoint the source of contamination. Whatever caused the outbreak was likely never fixed.

In a recent Detroit News opinion piece, Governor Gretchen Whitmer opined that she released her Fiscal Year 2023 budget - a budget bolstered by nearly $5 billion in federal funds left over from prior COVID relief.Despite her political talking points, Governor Whitmer’s budget isn’t a reflection of savvy negotiations or sound business principles - she’s merely playing Santa Claus with federal giveaway dollars in an attempt to salvage Michigan’s economy after her policies devastated our small businesses and workers.

Republican gubernatorial hopeful Garrett Soldano unveiled a set of transparency and anti-corruption proposals that might sound familiar to Michigan Democrats. Soldano, a Kalamazoo chiropractor, said his “Michigan Sunshine 2.0″ platform is modeled after reforms Gov. Gretchen Whitmer supported as a 2018 candidate but hasn’t delivered on. It’s also a response to sexual harassment and ethics investigations facing former House Speaker Lee Chatfield, a Republican who left the chamber due to term limits in 2021.

Washington — Starting Saturday, private health insurers will be required to cover up to eight home COVID-19 tests per month for people on their plans. The Biden administration announced the change Monday as it looks to lower costs and make testing for the virus more convenient amid rising frustrations. Under the new policy, first detailed to the AP, Americans will be able to either purchase home testing kits for free under their insurance or submit receipts for the tests for reimbursement, up to the monthly per-person limit.

Barring “extraordinary circumstances,” students can’t venture beyond Mercer County and Plainsboro Township beginning on Jan. 8 through at least Feb. 15. The restriction does not apply to sports teams. Citing a surge in COVID-19 cases, the school delayed the return of students to the Ivy League school by a week.

I really miss Rush. Regardless how complex or critical the issue, I could always count on Rush Limbaugh’s entirely rational and moral analysis, delivered by an apex professional with genuine compassion, even for those with whom he disagreed. He was ensconced behind that golden EIB microphone; a master of ideas and argument. From his lofty height, he engaged with every thorny problem with an equanimity that drew a placid sagacity from an ocean of experience, and confidence. After all, Rush was “documented almost always right 99.7% of the time.” He was a compass that always pointed the precise bearing to truth. He was the constitutionalists’ loadstar.

Somehow, the weirdest thing that happened at the State of the Union was not Joe Biden proclaiming that he’ll veto any legislation that raises the cost of “frisizhnjubs,” a line I’m still trying to figure out. Instead, it involved a pre-speech kiss delivered by Jill Biden to Kamala Harris’ husband, Douglas Emhoff. Honestly, I have no idea what happened here. When I first saw that, I tried to rationalize it. Maybe non-family members kiss on the lips like that routinely and I just missed it all this time. But the more I think about it, the more I don’t think I missed it. Rather, it’s just incredibly strange.
