The legal cannabis brand launched by the family of late Grateful Dead star Jerry Garcia has stopped operations in California amid a thriving black market for marijuana and a challenging environment for legitimate businesses. A spokesperson for Garcia Hand Picked, which the deceased guitarist's family launched in 2020, confirmed to SFGATE that the business has left the Golden State and didn't specify a return date. Comments:

The funny part is black market dealers easily bypass all the taxes, fees, regulations, etc... with little fear of prosecution.

They can't even get F#$@%$& pot right. These lunatic democrats have been trying to make pot legal for 30 years. When they finally get there they try and figure out the market. No surprise, that's how they run the government.

Legalizing marijuana was supposed to bring in tax dollars, right? Instead, it has created an incentive for criminals to undersell the legal vendors.

An Iranian couple in their 20s have been given jail sentences totalling 10 years after posting a video of themselves dancing in the street. They were reportedly convicted for promoting corruption, prostitution and propaganda. The video showed them dancing by Tehran's Azadi (Freedom) Tower. Authorities are handing heavy sentences to people seen to be involved in protests after the death of a woman who was detained by morality police. The couple did not link their dance to the ongoing protests in Iran. A source has confirmed to BBC Monitoring that the couple's arrest came after they posted the video to

Gas prices are continuing to rise to start 2023, and experts say prices are "unlikely to turn around any time soon." The current average for a regular gallon of gas $3.50, according to AAA. While it's nowhere near the record $5.01 reached in June, its far more than what the average was heading into New Year's Day and what prices were one year ago. Experts say it's possible the average price reaches $4 later this year. Here's what to know about gas prices heading into February: How much have gas prices risen? Gas prices had a steady decline following a

Firefighters in Vail rushed to put out a garage fire on Juniper Lane early Saturday morning after the homeowner called to report an odor of burning electrical equipment. When crews arrived, smoke was coming from the garage door. Once inside, they discovered the fire coming from the corner where two e-bikes were located. The fire was under control in 10 minutes. Damage is estimated at $250,000 which includes damage to the garage, the vehicles parked inside and the e-bikes. No one was injured and the cause of the fire is being investigated. Joe Biden’s expected re-election bid will thrust his wife, Jill Biden, further into the public eye, as the White House deploys the self-described introvert to help win over women. What little polling exists in regard to the first lady, who is 71, suggests she’s unknown to many Americans, even after two years at the side of the world’s most powerful person. But within the White House she is understood to be the president’s closest and most protective confidante. “She is his gut check on everything,” said Michael LaRosa, former press secretary to the first lady and special assistant to the

To help close the racial wealth gap, the U.S. government should pay $14 trillion in reparations to Black Americans, according to William A. Darity and A. Kirsten Mullen, authors of “From Here to Equality: Reparations for Black Americans in the Twenty-First Century.” In an interview with CNBC, Darity, a Duke University professor, and Mullen, a folklorist and writer, said the federal government is financially responsible because it was culpable for the enslavement of Black Americans and legal segregation in the United States. Mullen said “the federal government was party” to both the suppression of the Black vote and in some

The White House announced Wednesday it is taking strategic steps to protect renters, including setting up limits on egregious rate hikes. Critics, however, have called out the Biden administration's one-size-fits-all program that makes changes for renters at the expense of landlords. "We've seen it for so many years, and it's very frustrating," American Apartment Owners Association director Alexandra Alvarado said during Grady Trimble's report on "The Big Money Show" Wednesday. "[Mom-and-pop landlords] are not being treated differently, even though it affects them much more than it would affect any large company with thousands of units. They have room for it.

Democrats and far-left green groups have set their sights on regulating a wide range of popular household appliances in a bid to push their broader electrification and climate agenda. The push to regulate everyday appliances — including water heaters, furnaces, clothes washers, dishwashers, ceiling fans, microwave ovens and shower heads — comes as the Biden administration and Democratic lawmakers continue to set lofty net-zero and climate goals for weaning off fossil fuel dependence. Environmentalists have argued that electrification, banning natural gas hookups and implementing strict energy efficiency standards could help accelerate emissions reductions. It is a nationwide problem that's hit small mom-and-pop suppliers and reverberated to the biggest carmakers in the world. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the number of people employed by motor vehicle and parts manufacturers declined by 3,500 in January. Joe Biden went to their home in Wilmington on Sunday afternoon after spending most of the weekend in Camp David as I reported, raising questions as to why was he only going there for the evening when presumably he’s just heading back to the White House on Monday. I’m surprised that she’s back given that she was booed the last time that she was there. That may explain why Joe Biden wouldn’t show up

McCarthy is meeting with holdouts Monday in an effort to persuade them to vote for his resolution to give Omar the boot over her repeated comments against Israel that she has since apologized for. Last week, McCarthy unilaterally removed Reps. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., and Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., from the House Intelligence Committee, a select committee, citing national security concerns.

Maybe every president going back for decades has taken documents he shouldn’t have. But only one has a crooked son who could have easily accessed those documents and used them to enrich himself and his corrupt family. The public sure seems to believe that is the case. Border crossers, who arrived in New York City on buses from Texas, are refusing to leave a luxury Manhattan hotel that city officials had placed them in. Over the weekend, city officials sought to move migrants out of the Watson Hotel in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of Manhattan and to the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal where Mayor Eric Adams has constructed a massive shelter for new arrivals. Many of the border crossers staying at the Watson Hotel, paid for by taxpayers, are refusing to leave and have instead set up a homeless encampment outside the hotel.
