A crime-plagued Canadian McDonald’s that gained international notoriety nearly a decade ago for a viral video of a brawl involving a raccoon is set to close. The franchise owner of the McDonald’s on Rideau Street in Ottawa told Insider this month that the location will close, saying it was "a business decision based on the viability of this specific site." Crime was part of the routine at the fast-food spot, where police responded to various incidents of drug use and violence. (Snip)In 2017 alone, local police responded to the McDonald’s 900 times, according to Bordeleau, and received 843 calls for police in 2018.

Pretty sure the Police will be glad to see it go. Companies who put their business's in places like this should know better by now.

A raccoon? I thought cold fries set off the brawls at McD's. At least that's what does it in the US.

According to the article, the racoon dinnin do nuffin. It was just one of the bystanders going about their day while the brawl erupted. I pictured James Garner in "Support Your Local Sheriff", calmly eating his meal while a brawl goes on around him.

I was not permitted to read this, ostensibly for blocking ads. Guess I'll just have to ask the raccoon, directly, about this incident.

Joe Biden repeated an untrue story for at least the eighth time on Monday claiming an Amtrak conductor congratulated him for racking up one million miles on the train commuting between Wilmington, Delaware and Washington, D.C. The president has told this fabricated story since at least his 2020 presidential campaign. Standing beside Maryland Governor We Moore, Biden told the often-repeated story as part of his remarks kicking off a new project to replace a train tunnel in Baltimore built in the 1870s. Biden, 80, said a conductor gave him kudos for logging more miles on Amtrak than on Air Force Two as vice president.

It's not news, necessarily, that CNN is not keeping up with the post-Trump administration times we live in — despite a change in course directed by new boss Chris Licht following a merger between CNN's parent company and Discovery. But when tanking ratings continue to sink to levels not seen in nearly a decade, there's bound to be some talk of whether the network is salvageable at all.  Enter a new dispatch from TheWrap noting CNN "notched its lowest ratings in nine years across all its day parts for the week of Jan. 16 through Jan. 22, 2023," per ratings data from Nielsen: "just 444,000 viewers in primetime,

A mysterious spiral formation was spotted in the night sky above Hawaii earlier this month, sparking curiosity among observers. The spectacle, initially spotted by an observatory in Mauna Kea on Jan. 18, first looked like a traveling bright star before it morphed shapes. It grew into a larger blob before it transformed into a dot with a spinning spiral around it, footage from the Subaru-Asahi STAR Camera shows. (Photo) The night sky whirlpool, however, is not a UFO or spaceship — but reportedly the work of billionaire Elon Musk.

Just when you think the City Council couldn’t go lower, along comes Councilmember Kristin Jordan-Richardson looking to rename a Harlem street after Nation of Islam leader Elijah Muhammad, who promoted an odd mixture of black nationalism, “black capitalism” and black separatism. And in the most pernicious of ironies, KJR proposes “The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad Way” for the corner of West 127th Street and Malcolm X Boulevard. Speculation continues to this day about Mohammad’s involvement in the 1965 assassination of Malcolm X, who’d broken fully and public with the NOI not long before

The Justice Department made it official — the two recent special counsel appointments are among their top justifications for stonewalling congressional investigations into the classified documents sagas surrounding former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden . The White House , the National Archives, and Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines have all pointed to the appointment of special counsels in the Trump and Biden sagas as reasons for missing deadlines or deflecting questions , and the DOJ has now confirmed the special counsel justification for delays in info sharing.

This week’s Liberal Media Scream is breaking the pattern of highlighting over-the-top liberal bias in the media to point out something new on the Washington press stage: House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) eagerness to call out double standards. Since his election as speaker, McCarthy has made no secret that he believes that the Washington press corps is biased and often criticizes Republican leaders for moves it never criticized Democrats for. Last week, for example, when a reporter didn’t like McCarthy’s answer to a question, the speaker said: “Let me be very clear and respectful to you. You asked me a question. When I answer it, it's the answer to your question.

A senior Republican promised to hold the Biden administration to account on Monday amid a fresh report that weapons abandoned to the Taliban during the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan had made their way to another conflict. Authorities in Indian-controlled Kashmir claimed that Pakistan-linked militants have been seen with M4s, M16s and other American arms that have rarely been spotted before in the decades-long conflict. Rep. Mike Waltz, a former Green Beret, said it was the predictable result of the chaotic 2021 withdrawal. 'House Republicans warned this would happen yet there was zero oversight or investigation into Biden's disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan under Nancy Pelosi,'

On Wednesday, America will kick off another black history month. This year’s theme is black resistance. Among the 9 people featured in the official poster are Angela Davis and Malcolm X — not Martin Luther King or Clarence Thomas, men who made America better, but a pair of thugs. Davis is the communist who in August 1970 surreptitiously armed three murder defendants which led to a shootout with the police that left the judge and the three gunmen dead. Malcolm X was an ex-convict who once was the face of the Nation of Islam, a black supremacist church. When he left it, the church sent assassins who killed him.
