I first encountered unabashed pride in being American when I came to the United States in 1951. I sailed across the Atlantic alone. Perhaps someone along the way told me tht I was going to the United States; however, as a seven or eight-year-old I knew nothing about the nation that had granted me refuge. Upon disembarking in New York what stood out was not the awe-inspiring and intimidating skyscrapers seemingly reaching to the heavens, or for the first time in my life seeing a city not lying in ruins from the ravages of war, but that there was a palpable atmosphere of confidence, optimism,

When the US truly becomes what they think it is now, not the best place in the world, they may realize what they have done. You dont know what you've got till its gone.

My teen daughter had something cynical and stupid to say last July 4th.
I sat her down and gently corrected her poor understanding of history and government. If the schools won't teach, we have to. How many parents are even capable of that anymore?

Similar experience here, #3.
We were enjoying a local town's charming, patriotic parade. As one of the many fire engines passed by with uniformed members on board, some young people made what they thought were clever slams about the looks of a few of the men. I immediately turned to them and said that "every single one of those men would give his life to save yours". The little twerps shut their traps and there were no more comments from them. I hope I gave them something very solemn to ponder.

Another example of dumbing down.
Hate America.
They learn it school.
The smart kids will grow up and realize there are only a handful of countries out there that are comparable to the United States, and none that are actually better.

Being drafted into the Army wasn't the best experience of my life, especially during the Vietnam war, but it certainly made me appreciate what I had. I'd like to think bringing back the draft might change some of the attitudes of the younger generation. That assumes of course that we rid ourselves of this new wokeism that seems to be infecting the military brass these days.

This article is a yearning for a past that no longer exists today. The cultural/social/political/business tides of the past 30 years of this country have eroded the foundations that this country was built on and succeeded by. What success has the United States had the past decades? Name one. Our education is terrible and has been morphed into a woke monster more interested in assisting kids to repel against Natural Law and embrace transgender and the homosexuality. Other than Military production and Chip development our economy produces/manufactures very little of quality. The financialization of our economy has been sold as Capitalism but is exploitation and far removed from Capitalistic theory and practice. Our institutions have been corrupted with power hungry egotist. Our elections are third world. We are now actively trying to overthrow yet another country because they do not bow down to our demands. We cannot pay our debt. And the list goes on and on. So unfortunately the prominence and goodness of the United States is rapidly fading.

America has always been divided, but we made matters worse by falling for a Marxist-raised Barry Hussein Obammy. Someone who the U.S. government never vetted because (incredibly) a President is not required to be vetted for Constitutional qualifications after he turned over a forged birth certificate, used a social security number from a state where he’d never lived, and is "married" to someone who openly despises our nation as much as he seems to.
Is it any wonder America’s days are done?

One of the worst mistakes ever made in this country was when we did away with the draft.

Ask a cross section of America and you will likely get a similar answer. from conservative seniors to radical young liberals. Answer this question, would your risk your life or the lives of loved ones fighting for Ukraine? If the answer is no, then you’re probably not proud of what your country is doing, perhaps even ashamed. You can ask many similar questions on important issues. It doesn’t mean you hate America or don’t want to experience its benefits or intend to leave. Decisions by lawmakers and judges have profound consequences continually changing the social and political landscape, lurching the electorate from one extreme to another. No measures, half measures, reverse measures but rarely is anything reliably decided. No one gets what they actually vote or exactly sure what they have gotten or when they will actually get it or the consequences of having it or can figure out who actually got anything at all. Not being proud or ashamed is understandable, but more likely the majority are simply disappointed.

I am not patriotic or proud of the US.
What the Deep State, Zhou Xiden and the demonrats have done is disgusting.
Flying flags that celebrate perversion from consulates
The lies
The endless wars
The evilness exhibited by the US government and large parts of the electorate is nauseating.
If the Russians or Chinese landed an army on the US shores, I'd be tempted to welcomne them as liberators

Another, but wholly consistent attitude of America’s youngest adults in the work force, is lack of ambition. An independent HR consultant recently spoke at a service club meeting I attended. The audience consisted largely of local business and professional people. He which of the following adjectives describe Generation Z. “Motivated, ambitious, energetic, grateful, hardworking.” After each word he paused for a show of hands. There were none. He said our response was the same he gets everywhere.

In April 1966 when i was in 8th grade, our school.principal taught us a class titled "Propaganda in America". He warned us firmly to protect our freedom and Constitution at all cost and if we failed to do so, it would signal the end of America as founded. And here we are 56 years later.

These youths have been brainwashed and their parents are to blame. They allowed the public school system to raise their children and have not protested the incremental indoctrination of the left over the years. Time to take back the reins in the school system, parents.

Those statistics are a result of brain washing. You start out in elementary school telling young kids their country is evil and they will believe it and now we see them acting out on what they consider their truth. However, they do not know the truth and are fearful that their strongly held beliefs will be questioned. Present the truth to them and the smart ones will, at least, listen which is why young conservative speakers are having a real impact on them and this is why the left wants to censor them. The battle is raging right now and we are in the thick of it. It’s going to be difficult to convince the zealots but it can be done. They are a miserable lot incapable of joy. Their entire existence is complaining and whining which is no way to go through life. Academia has devastated young minds and hearts. They are so arrogant and it is quite embarrassing when they open their mouths to voice their opinions. I am going to say it, these young leftist women are the worst and are the most stridently woke morons ever to draw breath. They are emotional lemmings who will gladly follow their woke heroes over the cliff. These are not deep thinkers but are proficient in parroting the democrat line. As for the young men, they are an embarrassment. They are weak physically and mentally and have surrendered their manhood to screeching young women who dominate them. It’s a pitiful sight but it is reality for far too many kids whose only wish is to be accepted by the cool kids. Jokes on them. Leftists are not the cool kids, they are the ignorant kids. I’d put a conservative up against a lib kid any day.

This is what schools have been teaching for decades. The real root of our problem is Communist, anti-American teachers, which seem to be a majority in most states.

Don’t worry as Biden and the leftist Democrats have been replacing hundreds of thousands of Americans per year who have been living in a dream world after becoming addicted to, and being killed by, for the most part to very dangerous and powerful drugs such as the fentanyl, that is being smuggled into the USA from China, through Mexico, with millions of poor, socialist oriented, and uneducated illegal aliens from the third world who coincidentally fit within the minority group categories of Democrat identity politics who the leftist Democrats figure will become leftist Democrat supporters and voters in the years ahead. No doubt Biden and the leftist Democrats believe that the cheap labor friendly wimpy Republicans who ignored illegal immigration in the past, will essentially allow them to facilitate such mass uncontrolled illegal immigration on into the future, along with the fact that authoritative studies have shown that there currently is a population in third world countries numbering about 142 million potential additional illegal aliens who would very much love to resettle in the USA in the future for “a better life”. If Biden and the leftist Democrats are able to sustain their unlawful “open borders” “catch and release” policies, along with other unlawful schemes they are proposing to facilitate as much mass uncontrolled illegal immigration into the future, that is now estimated at about 250,000 a month, it won’t be long before the USA is a very different place. Because as Barack Obama has said in essence “a country’s demographics determine its destiny”. Clearly what Biden and the leftist Democrats are doing now by ignoring the immigration laws and destroying the borderline is to permanently change the electoral and population demographics of the country to their future political favor and is all deliberate and political. The big question is, do the wimpy Republicans even have a clue?

I think most of the older generation is proud to be American due to the influence of parents and teachers.
Same situation here.

Kick them out of America into a third world country for a year.
Then ask them what they think of America.

One should feel neither pride nor shame for an accident of birth. These feelings should relate to an individual's own activities. However, since 1990, actually 1900, the US has been goading, coercing, threatening, destroying countries around the world for commercial and more recently woke agenda. US hegemony has been built on principles of greed, laziness and a false sense of importance. The younger Americans instinctively know they have contributed nothing to the human race, so no pride. I served 37 years in or with the the US military, but I feel no pride at what our country is doing to the rest of the world. 911 should have served as a wake up call after we murdered 1 million Iraqis so we could continue stealing their oil (Kuwait was Iraq for centuries). Our prosperity is built on the suffering of billions outside the US. How many millions more must suffer/die at the hands of the US military and our proxies working for the WEF (Davos elites). The light at the end of the US hegemony tunnel is fading and BRICS may truly destroy the US: militarily, economically, and culturally.
