Authorities have breached a white van in Torrance that they believe is connected to the gunman who opened fire at a ballroom dance studio in Monterey Park on Saturday night, killing 10 people and injuring 10 others. Just before 1 p.m. Sunday, a SWAT team swarmed the vehicle and smashed its windows in the parking lot of Tokyo Central, a Japanese grocery store near the southwest corner of Hawthorne and Sepulveda boulevards. At least two bullet holes had been visible in the driver’s-side window in the moments prior to their approach, and the driver appeared to be slumped over the steering wheel. Multiple law enforcement sources told The Times

Two self-inflicted gunshots to the head? Two sniper rounds to the head? Someone probably put shrimp in his ramen bowl at the party and he wanted tofu. At least this saves a long expensive trial.

From Twitter: Adam Schiff @RepAdamSchiff · Ten dead in Monterey Park. I am sickened. A horrific example of needless gun violence. With bigotry toward AAPI individuals as a possible motive. Now that it has been determined that a White Man was not involved, and that the gun used was not an "assault weapon," this story will be gone by tomorrow.

Charles McGonigal, a retired counterintelligence investigator from the FBI’s New York Field Office, was just arrested because he allegedly took substantial sums of money from Oleg Deripaska, a Russian billionaire, to get the latter off a U.S. sanctions list. Where this goes beyond the ordinary corruption that periodically crops up among people with too much power, too few morals, and too little accountability is that McGonigal was one of the people investigating Trump over the Russia Hoax, while Deripaska employed Christopher Steele, whose false dossier seeded the Russia Hoax. Anyone who paid attention during the “hot” years of the Russia Hoax recognizes Deripaska’s name.

The Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) advisory panel on vaccines is set to consider an annual schedule for the coronavirus vaccine, akin to how flu vaccines are administered, when it meets this week. The FDA’s Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee (VRBPAC) will meet Thursday to discuss how to simplify and streamline the COVID-19 vaccination process, including the composition of coronavirus vaccines and the recommended scheduling for these shots. The rapid evolution of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, resulting in variants with an improved ability to escape immune protection, means that “periodically updating the composition of COVID-19 vaccines as needed,” as was done with the updated bivalent booster

A jury on Monday convicted four members of the extremist group the Oath Keepers of seditious conspiracy. The jury started deliberations Thursday morning after a five-week trial. Prosecutors said the four defendants — Roberto Minuta, Joseph Hackett, David Moerschel and Edward Vallejo — used a “perverted version of American history” to justify their actions on Jan. 6, 2021. “Attacking the Capitol was a means to an end,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Louis Manzo told jurors during closing arguments Wednesday. He said the group took advantage of the riot and seized the opportunity to fulfill their goal of preventing Congress from counting the electoral votes and confirming Joe Biden as the winner

Charles McGonigal, a former FBI official involved in the investigation of Donald Trump’s ties to Russia, was charged with violating sanctions and collaborating with Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska. According to federal prosecutors, McGonigal received $225,000 from a Russian intelligence officer in exchange for his help in having sanctions targeting Deripaska lifted. “Charles McGonigal, a former high-level FBI official, and Sergey Shestakov, a Court interpreter, violated U.S. sanctions by agreeing to provide services to Oleg Deripaska, a sanctioned Russian oligarch. They both previously worked with Deripaska to attempt to have his sanctions removed, and, as public servants, they should have known better,”

An Arkansas man who was photographed during the Jan. 6 riot with his feet on a desk in then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office, was found guilty on all counts Monday after brief jury deliberations. Richard Barnett faced eight charges stemming from the insurrection, including theft of government property. He said repeatedly in court last week that he regretted what transpired at the Capitol that day but did not consider his actions illegal. Barnett appears in images from the riot reclining in a chair in the speaker's office, with his feet propped up, and what the government referred to as a “stun device” tucked in his pants. As RedState reported, Joe Biden’s latest scandal took another major turn on Saturday after a DOJ-led search of his Delaware home revealed even more illegally possessed classified documents. But while things have undoubtedly escalated, it’s now being reported that Robert Hur, the special counsel appointed to investigate the president, hasn’t even taken over the investigation yet. Instead, the search was overseen by U.S. Attorney John Lausch. I’m honestly at a loss as to how this could be. According to Merrick Garland, the decision to appoint Hur was not made rashly, and the plan was already in motion by the time the official announcement was made on January 12th,

The Federal Bureau of Investigation may look at other locations tied to President Joe Biden for classified documents, CBS News is reporting. This comes after the Department of Justice located six documents with classified markings at Biden’s home in Wilmington, Delaware, on Friday. RedState reported: It was just announced that Justice Department personnel searched Biden’s Wilmington, Delaware home for 12 hours on Friday, with Biden’s personal attorneys and White House counsel present, and discovered six more classified documents that they have now taken possession of. Some of the documents reportedly go back to Biden’s time in the Senate

Don’t expect boasts of “We’re No. 1” from the White House or Wilmington, but that doesn’t diminish the singular, ah, achievement. Both Bidens have earned their brushes with infamy. Courtesy of Fox News, here’s a headline for the ages: “Biden, Hunter make presidential history as first father-son duo under separate investigations.” The president paid his dues with his serially reckless handling of classified information, with the added bonus that the gentle probe of him inadvertently draws a comparison to how roughly Donald Trump is being treated by the same Department of Justice. When it came to the supposedly secret documents Biden had scattered around like so much birdseed, the feds

As RedState reported, the slow news cycle was blown up on Saturday after it was announced that a DOJ search of Joe Biden’s home had found six more classified documents. That comes after the White House had asserted that the search had been completed. Biden’s lawyers immediately tried to get out in front of the revelation, releasing a statement claiming cooperation with the DOJ. But while the administration continues to talk about transparency, one bombshell detail from the search has left the president’s lies fully exposed. Namely, the fact that documents were found that were taken during Biden’s years in the Senate.

Joe Biden is panicking.  An astonishing fifth trove of classified documents was discovered in the president’s Delaware mansion Friday, not by his own lawyers this time, but during a more thorough 13-hour search by the Department of Justice while he holed up in his beach house in Rehoboth, which ought to be next on the DOJ search list.  Biden’s Attorney General Merrick Garland has had the audacity to appoint a special counsel to investigate Biden.  His long-term trusted factotum Ron Klain is bailing out.  And someone at the White House is throwing his trusted longtime executive assistant Kathy Chung under the bus.

Dozens of House Democrats have proposed legislation that would eliminate the debt ceiling, which would allow the government to borrow without any limit set by Congress. The federal government hit the $31.381 trillion debt ceiling last week, and House Republicans are pushing for commitments to cut back on the record growth in federal spending before agreeing to allow more borrowing. But Democrats accuse Republicans of setting up the possibility of prohibiting a debt ceiling hike, which would make the government unable to fund all of its current obligations. Democrats say a better idea is to eliminate all limits on federal borrowing and allow
