Mexico has not been a safe place for American tourists for many years. I've enjoyed several trips to Cancun resorts, but you'd never see me crossing the border towns along the Texas border ever again.

How is it anyone still visits Mexico? They hate America/Americans, they aren't a friend to us and they conspire with our enemies in the world...China for instance...to distribute deadly drugs in the US. If we had a real president he'd rein in Mexico and declare the cartels as terrorist organizations...end of story. But, we don't have a duly elected president who cares about America so that dream is out the window.

If I saw a car with Ohio plates in Mexico, filled with bullet holes, I would assume it just meant the local cartel's Welcome Wagon had been there.

Since I know that his name is Jose Gutiérrez and he was in Mexico visiting his fiancée I decided to hire a private investigator to see if he could get to the bottom of why Mr. Gutierrrez was in Mexico. He charged me $1,300 and told me he thinks Mr. Gutierrez is of Hispanic heritage, maybe even Mexican AND to he had to go to Mexico to see his Mexican fiancée who lives in Mexico. Silly me! I could just have read the article.

Which is exactly why I will not take my wife and me on vacation in Mexico even though I could fly to the resort destinations there for nothing as long as my son's airline flies there. Life is way too short to be taking any chances in third-world Mexico. You think Mexico is bad? Try further south - Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador which top the list. Want to get robbed and/or killed for the trouble, go there. Finally, depending on who you believe, personal safety is much better in Costa Rica and Panama.

U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg has called out the rail operator at the center of a hazardous train derailment in Ohio. In a sharply worded, three-page letter sent Sunday to Norfolk Southern Railway president and CEO Alan Shaw, Buttigieg accused the Atlanta-based company of repeatedly prioritizing profit over safety -- a problematic ethos within the larger transportation industry that the secretary said has contributed to a number of derailments over the years. "The derailment of a Norfolk Southern train carrying hazardous materials near East Palestine, Ohio, has upended the lives of numerous residents, many of whom continue to worry about

A long-serving Catholic bishop known as a "peacemaker" was shot and killed in Los Angeles on Saturday, officials said. Auxiliary Bishop David O'Connell, who had been a priest and then a bishop during his 45 years with the church, died "unexpectedly," José H. Gomez, the archbishop of Los Angeles, said in a statement. He'd been known as a "man of deep prayer," Gomez said. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said it responded at about 1 p.m. to the Hacienda Heights neighborhood, where an adult male was pronounced dead at the scene. Los Angeles ABC station KABC confirmed with .

In Sacramento, there’s a word that keeps popping up during discussions about the state’s homelessness crisis: “accountability.” Gov. Gavin Newsom has scolded cities and counties for failing to get more people off the street, hundreds of millions in state spending notwithstanding. “Californians demand accountability and results, not settling for the status quo,” the governor said last November. (Snip) The increasingly bipartisan chorus points to two stark, seemingly contradictory trends: The state keeps spending more to address the crisis, and the crisis keeps getting worse. So where, they ask, is all the money going? On Wednesday, California lawmakers got something that

The Biden administration is preparing to sign up the United States to a “legally binding” accord with the World Health Organization (WHO) that would give this Geneva-based UN subsidiary the authority to dictate America’s policies during a pandemic. Despite widespread criticism of the WHO’s response to the COVID pandemic, U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Xavier Becerra joined with WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus in September 2022 to announce “the U.S.-WHO Strategic Dialogue.” Together, they developed a “platform to maximize the longstanding U.S. government-WHO partnership, and to protect and promote the health of all people around the globe, including the American people.”

The average person can’t describe the daily responsibilities of the secretary of transportation or even name the figure who holds that position — until our transportation infrastructure fails, that is. As far as cushy political appointments go, it’s on the thankless end of the spectrum. At least that was the case before Pete Buttigieg ascended to the role in 2021. Now the secretary of transportation is both a political celebrity and someone immune to meaningful criticism over our country’s transportation failures — and there have been many.Though the left rarely misses an opportunity to announce that “the adults are back in charge,” Buttigieg’s failures suggest otherwise.
