(snip)“I’ll let the committee process do its work, but if the case is built, I would imagine that once that case is built, if it rises to the level of an impeachable malfeasance or misfeasance, high crimes, and misdemeanors, yeah, it’ll come to the floor.”

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) didn’t include serious adverse events like heart inflammation on post-vaccination surveys even though the agency knew the issues could be linked to COVID-19 vaccines, documents show.
Even before the surveys were rolled out in December 2020 after the first vaccines were authorized, the CDC knew that myocarditis—a form of heart inflammation since confirmed as being caused by the Pfizer and Moderna shots—and other serious adverse events were of “special interest” when it came to the vaccines, according to a newly disclosed version of the protocol for the survey system.

Democrats in the House of Representatives have introduced a constitutional amendment to overturn the Supreme Court’s controversial Citizens United v. FEC decision made in 2010.
The court ruled 5–4 that the free speech clause of the First Amendment prohibits the government from restricting independent expenditures for political campaigns by corporations and overruled an earlier decision that banned corporations from making “electioneering communications.”
Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif). said in a press release he and Democrat colleagues introduced the “Democracy For All Amendment” to “overturn legal precedents that have allowed unrestrained campaign spending and dark money to corrupt American democracy.” He has introduced the constitutional amendment every year since 2013,

Former President Donald Trump said he’s planning a “big political speech” on Thursday in a sign that he is ramping up his 2024 campaign.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump announced his plans. The former president did not elaborate on what the speech would be about but responded to reports claiming that his presidential campaign is off to a lackluster start.
“The Fake News says I am not campaigning very hard. I say they are stupid and corrupt, with the Election still a long time away,” Trump wrote on the platform. “But do not fear, MANY GIANT RALLIES and other events coming up soon. It will all be wild and exciting.

For years, as Joe Biden has sought to assure the American public he deserves their trust, he’s relied upon a go-to phrase meant to underscore his credibility: “I give you my word as a Biden.”
But that’s not the only way the Biden family name has been used. The president’s brothers have invoked it in their private business pursuits over the years to suggest access to power and influence, according to a CNN review of court documents, emails(snip)
A year after Biden was elected, for example, his youngest brother, Frank, boasted in a speech to medical professionals gathered in Boston of the “bully pulpit” he was afforded due to “my brother Joey,”

After weeks of atmospheric rivers, bomb cyclones and Pineapple Express moisture, California reservoir levels have seen a steep rise.
On Sunday, the National Weather Service shared an infographic from the Department of Water Resources, which laid out just how much California’s reservoirs have filled after weeks of heavy rain.
While none of the major reservoirs are at capacity – in fact, many are still less than half full – many are at or above their historical average for this point in the rainy season. Oroville, for example, is at 54% capacity, but 99% of where it usually is in mid-January.
But three years of drought has left the state begging for more water.

Documents made public by the nonprofit government watchdog Protect the Public’s Trust (PPT) on Wednesday show Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg was completely absent during the supply-chain crisis of 2021 contrary to claims otherwise.
According to the ethics group, Buttigieg’s calendar showed no meetings from the time Buttigieg left for paternity leave in mid-August to Oct. 6, 2021. During that time, a “breathtaking backup of container ships” began to swell on the West Coast, and Americans faced empty shelves at grocery stores.
Ninety percent of new fathers take paternity leave, but 70 percent of them take two weeks or less. Buttigieg, however, took a whopping eight-week absence

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Jan. 17 that he was “surprised” to learn that classified documents had been discovered at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement in Washington, where President Joe Biden previously had an office.
Blinken served as Biden’s national security adviser when he was vice president and the two have remained close since Biden became president.
He worked as managing director of the Penn Center in 2018 when it officially opened.
