Mikie Sherrill of New Jersey, Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, and Sen. Who was responsible for issuing the invitations? Were these American participants selected by the WEF? If so, the question is "Why?" One can speculate about the reasons for attendance, perhaps to include Issa's claim that he is going there to speak on behalf of freedom of choice, free markets, American exceptionalism, etc. But one wonders if the WEF selected these participants because it thought they could be most easily coopted or corrupted. I suppose an innocent motive would include the chance to spend time at a fabulous resort, drink and dine extravagantly and have a nice, all expenses paid vakay. Or am I being too skeptical? And I demand to know why I was not invited!

Why did they go? That's where the money is. It is a shame we can't keep them out of the country when they return. We have representative government, but the citizens aren't represented.

And probably being paid for with tax dollars. If I am wrong on that, please let me know. If I am correct, I find it irresponsible in spending. We are trillions and trillions in debt and do they need that many people going there?

I can't help but think of the first "The Kingsman" movie. Davos resembles it so much, an accident?, that it isn't far fetched to believe that they all have a micro explosive implanted in their necks. The social parallels to the movies are scary.

The fact that the GOP revealed disunity does not in any way prove that “it is a party that to some significant extent loathes itself.”

Last week, Pope Benedict XVI was laid to rest. The world media were forced to cover the event, barely containing the vitriol they always had for the man. Why was such a kindly and humble scholar always the subject of such scorn? Most of it, I think, was that worldly commentators so hated his predecessor, but St. John Paul II's charisma simply washed over everyone, like a tidal wave. So they took it out on his successor. There is also a lot of academic jealousy by insiders.

The gleaming promise of new technology and its uses blinded us to the insidious extent imperiled elitists would go to protect their unmerited power, wealth, and status. We were naïve. Yet, even if one could have foreseen the metastasizing tyranny brought about by the digital age, it would have strained credulity to watch Americans—especially the young—not merely acquiescing to it, but embracing it. Though we are now inured to its novelty, it bears recollecting that from the late 20th century to the present, we have lived through a worldwide communications revolution. Profoundly affecting the individual and society, the full impact of this revolution remains unclear.

Dozens of prominent conservatives, including a former attorney general for the Reagan administration, released a letter Wednesday in support of the 20 House Republicans standing between Rep. Kevin McCarthy and his bid for the speakership. “Months ago, these members made clear that this established way of doing things was no longer acceptable,” the Conservative Action Project letter said. “Rather than engage them in a good faith negotiation, Rep. Kevin McCarthy has instead maligned both the requests and the messengers. He has publicly and through proxies leveled attacks against members of his own party, including threatening to deny committee assignments for those who continue to oppose him.”

As Canada prepares to expand its euthanasia law to include those with mental illness, some Canadians - including many of the country's doctors - question whether the country's assisted death programme has already moved too far, too fast.
