Idaho murder victims' roommate heard crying,
saw man in mask morning of killings: court docs

Original Article

One of the Idaho murder victims' surviving roommates heard crying then opened her door and saw a man wearing a black mask, according to a newly unsealed filing that paints a vivid account of the massacre. The roommate, identified only as D.M., awoke at 4 a.m. Nov. 13 by what she thought was the sound Kaylee Goncalves playing with her dog, Murphy, on the third floor. A short time later, she heard what she thought was Goncalves saying "there's someone here," the document says. D.M. opened her door and heard crying coming from Xana Kernodle's room and a male voice saying "it's OK, I'm going to help you."  CORRECTION*

Comments:

Ok, this is kind of bombshell information. In EVERY report I've read, it has been claimed, time and again, that the bodies weren't discovered until around noon the next day and that the surviving roommates slept through the entire attack. This is completely at odds with that...why does it always feel like we're being lied to?

Please get your information from the police, not the news reports. So much of what was reported has been incorrect. I agree with your comment number one.

As interesting as the details may be, reports like this one in the media have tainted the jury pool. Would there be a potential juror in Moscow, Idaho, population 25000, or in Panhandle Idaho, or Idaho, who has not heard details in this crime? What a circus the trial will be. There is already an ongoing circus in Idaho, the Daybell trial.

It was a party house...and obviously he had been inside at least once, if not several times prior. The floorplan is too broken up over three floors for him to NOT know his way around in the dark otherwise. I cannot imagine a scenario where someone is awakened from sleep several times at 4am, sees a masked stranger, dressed all in Black, walking down their hallway and doesn't check with other roomates about what is going on. Goes back to bed and doesn't even notice they are all dead until noon the next day. What combinations of booze and dope were these girls all using? How many random males spent random nights there, with them? Prior stories said that one of the surviving roomates had a male "guest" there that night.

Now we have a serious suspect/perp. Let’s go after the the other tenants of the apartment house. Has anyone considered Fear? If I saw someone lurking in a communal hall in the wee small hours of the morning, I might call the police but I would not leave my (locked!) apartment and roam around checking on the other tenants of the building. Besides, those passing judgment are doing so based on only flimsy reports from the flimsy media on what actually happened, the timeline. We should save our moralizing until more official reports come out. That takes patience, something rarely seen on social media and internet forums.

If I saw a masked man in MY house at 4am, they would be chased out, face down on the floor waiting for the cops, or Shot. (or some combination of the 3 options) Nearly EVERY horror movie has such a villain...most have young women stabbed to death by them. WHO would simply go back to bed?

I hate to admit this, but I find the writing of this story very hard to follow. Or perhaps -- if the story is written correctly -- it is the action of the survivors I find hard to follow. I am not blaming anyone here other than the murderer. I've never been in a situation like the one the survivors experienced, so I don't know how I would react. However, I don't understand why no one called the authorities for hours. If I had seen a masked man wondering about my house, I think I would be calling the cops ASAP. So . . . some details are missing. The reporting is not great. And the writing of the reports is even less great.

Tim Robbins fell for the media’s COVID-19 narratives hook, line and sinker. But not for long. The actor/director came out earlier this year against vaccine mandates for his fellow thespians, understanding it made little sense given what we’ve learned about the medication. The jab doesn’t stop the spread, nor does it prevent the recipient from getting the virus. Now, he’s taken that learning curve public, courtesy of Russell Brand’s 6+ million YouTube subscribers.

The 2022 elections should have been a wake-up call for Georgia Democrats after they lost eight of nine statewide races in November and saw the defeat of some of the party’s biggest, brightest stars. With the notable exception of U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnock, Democrats lost by larger margins in 2022 than they did in 2018, but with more money, stronger candidates, and a growing Georgia population that is younger, more diverse, and more closely aligned with their politics.

As Congresswoman Liz Cheney was being decisively repudiated by the voters of Wyoming (66 percent to 29 percent is a repudiation), her smug Eastern establishment certainty of moral virtue remained intact. However, in describing her situation with the words of Abraham Lincoln, she skewed the historic record. If Lincoln had only garnered 29 percent support in his 1858 U.S. Senate race against Stephen Douglas, he would never have been president.

Chief Justice John Roberts issued a concurring judgment in the Supreme Court ruling Friday morning that revokes a woman's constitutional right to an abortion. Roberts explicitly sided with his conservative colleagues in their majority opinion to uphold Mississippi's ban on abortions following 15 weeks of pregnancy. However, in his concurring opinion, he expressed a difference in opinion with his colleagues on the matter of overturning the court's decades-old decision in Roe v. Wade, which gives women the constitutional right to abortion.

Mr McCarthy's party had taken control of the House – the US lower chamber – following the midterm elections in the autumn, with a slim 222-212 majority. Usually, election of the Speaker follows seamlessly, as a formality, with the leader of the largest party a shoo-in for the job. However, recent splits in the Republican party meant that did not happen until the 15th round of voting.
