Twitter went into an uproar and multiple news outlets ran headlines suggesting that Mike Pence had entered the 2024 race on Monday evening after a "statement of candidacy" was filed with the FEC on his behalf, but a spokesperson for the former Vice President confirmed that Pence did not file paperwork to run for president. "Former Vice President Mike Pence did not file to run for President today," spokesman Devin O'Malley tweeted, later suggesting that someone "pranked" pundits and journalists. A spokesperson for the FEC said that they cannot comment on specific filings, but noted that the agency has a process for reviewing potentially fake or fictitious forms.

Comments:

For his own sake and for the public good, I hope this is as close as Pence gets to running for President

Well, I wouldn’t mind seeing him run. It would give me the pleasure of seeing him lose miserably.

This only reinforces the fact that the media outlet that ran this story do not have any competent reporters on their staffs. It was very easy to get verification that this story was true or false. Sadly, they were too lazy and incompetent to seek verification before running the story.

Means nothing. Pence was going nowhere. Nice guy but doesn't have the toughness to fight back or take the offensive.

The huge changes to our country that seemed hard to believe were happening in 2021 have only worsened and become the new norm in 2022 — serious crimes get a free pass, millions of illegal immigrants flow across our borders, record national debt and inflation burn away our dollars, and censorship worsens. This year also included Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, so add the threat of nuclear war to that list of the new awful. The good news from this year is brief but heartening: Covid-19 seems mostly behind us, Roe v. Wade was overturned, and Elon Musk took ownership of Twitter and is exposing the Big Tech censorship so damaging

The FBI on Wednesday finally broke its silence and responded to the revelations on Twitter of close ties between the bureau and the social media giant—ties that included efforts to suppress information and censor political speech. “The correspondence between the FBI and Twitter show nothing more than examples of our traditional, longstanding and ongoing federal government and private sector engagements, which involve numerous companies over multiple sectors and industries,” the bureau said in a statement. “As evidenced in the correspondence, the FBI provides critical information to the private sector in an effort to allow them to protect themselves and their customers. Comments Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell made on Tuesday show why he has become the single biggest obstacle to GOP success. The Kentucky Republican claimed giving more money to Ukraine is “the No. 1 priority for the United States right now, according to most Republicans.” The new $1.7 trillion Democrat spending bill he enthusiastically supports would give Ukraine another roughly $45 billion in assistance, bringing the total over the past eight months to more than $100 billion, a staggering figure even if it weren’t happening during a time of inflation, looming recession, and other serious domestic problems. The comment about Republican priorities is so false as to be completely delusional.

The life expectancy for the average U.S. citizen has hit a 25-year low, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Life expectancy for people born in the U.S. during 2021 stands at 76.4 years, the lowest on record since 1996. Life expectancy for those born in 2019 was 78.8 years — a drop of 2.4 years, according to CDC data. This marks a dramatic reversal from the steady growth in expected longevity of U.S. citizens for the past two decades. CDC officials blamed the drop on two factors — the COVID-19 pandemic and a rapidly growing epidemic of substance abuse and drug addiction.

"They are probing & pushing everywhere." That line sums up an increasingly alarming element in the seventh installment of the so-called "Twitter files." "They" were the agents of Federal Bureau of Investigation, and they were pushing for the censorship of citizens in an array of stories. Writer Michael Shellenberger added critical details on how the FBI was directly engaged in censorship at the company. However, this batch of documents contains a particularly menacing element to the FBI-Twitter censorship alliance. The documents show what writer Shellenberger described as a concentrated effort "to discredit leaked information about Hunter Biden before and after it was published."
The Jan. 6 Committee's Referral Is Unconstitutional 24 replies

The Jan. 6 Committee has voted to refer former President Donald Trump to the Justice Department for possible criminal prosecution. This referral violates both the letter and spirit of the Constitution for at least two reasons. First, Article 1 of the Constitution grants Congress "all legislative powers" and only "legislative powers." Under our system of separation of powers, the power to prosecute lies exclusively with the executive branch through the justice department. Congress has no authority to refer specific individuals for prosecution. It is beyond the scope of its constitutional authority. Second, Congress is specifically denied the power to pass any "bill of attainder."

Gov. Greg Abbott, R-Texas, ripped into the media after a veteran ABC journalist suggested Republicans' rhetoric is partially to blame for the crisis at the southern border. Abbott responded Tuesday to a clip from his interview with Martha Raddatz after she said she had never heard President Biden use the term "open border" while instead recounting such rhetoric from Abbott, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, and former President Donald Trump. Abbott told "Jesse Watters Primetime" that Raddatz's claim that such messaging "reverberates in Mexico and beyond" while being acted upon by cartel smugglers is simply untrue. "It's just crazy to suggest anything like that," he said.

The midterm elections were closer than expected with Republicans seizing a slim majority in the House of Representatives and Democrats retaining narrow Senate control. That presents an opportunity for the GOP if it plays it right. Although the widely anticipated “red wave” didn’t materialize, the political and economic situation is the same. The Biden administration has no effective plans to address record inflation or improve the economic outlook. Those fundamentals will continue to plague Biden and Washington Democrats, who appear to want to continue their progressive policies. The shift in House control provides an opportunity for the business community and the House GOP to work together to chart a new course.

The story of Elon Musk's acquisition, transformation and public rehabilitation of Twitter is nothing short of remarkable. Here is that rarest of confluences: A right-leaning (or at least right-sympathetic) mega-billionaire privately acquires a disproportionately influential public company out of genuine public-spiritedness, perhaps even a hint of noblesse oblige, and an earnest commitment to preserving open discourse in our modern digital public square; exposes grievous previous company wrongs for the whole world to see in a dramatic unveiling of the eponymous "Twitter Files"; and makes decisive personnel decisions to toss out core leaders of the wretched and corrupt old regime, and begins to chart a promising new path forward.

This week’s Twitter Files revelations are the most disturbing yet. They show how the employees of this private company, not voted for by a single American, conspired to censor the democratically elected president of the United States. It was nothing short of corporate tyranny, a sinister assault on public life by social media suits most people had never heard of. It should be front page news. The newest report is written by Bari Weiss, who examines the decision-making process behind Twitter’s banishment of Donald Trump in January last year, a couple of days after the January 6 riot on Capitol Hill. We all know Twitter’s official story: two tweets

The corporate media still pushes the narrative that global depopulation agenda is a “conspiracy theory.” If, by “conspiracy theory,” it’s meant that the global depopulation agenda is a theory describing a conspiracy of elites to depopulate the world, that’s a technically accurate label. But, if they mean by the term “conspiracy theory” that global depopulation is not true and anyone who subscribes to it is crazy (which is what they really mean), it’s just gaslighting. The truth’s right there in the public record for anyone to see. For instance, the chimpanzee lady Jane Goodall appeared at the World Economic Forum in 2020 to lobby for a global reduction in population

When fall comes around, everyone starts thinking about Christmas. People are getting their shopping lists ready and picking up items for their parties. For kids, this is the perfect opportunity to show off how good they’ve been during the year. Unfortunately, Christmas can also bring some very sad and tragic episodes. We’re not talking about getting the wrong size of clothes or the wrong video game system, either. Many times, people encounter terrible family situations, illness, or death. Anyone who watches the news will hear about something horrific happening during the holiday. Having to deal with a terrible scenario is something no one expects during such a joyous season.

The script is sickeningly familiar by now, isn’t it? Establishment Republicans -- led throughout the ’22 elections and in their aftermath by the notorious Kentucky senator-for-life Mitch McConnell -- betrayed their party’s base, which is staunchly conservative, increasingly in an America First sorta way.  Yes, lest one is confused because of all the serial betrayals, we’re referring to the gross obscenity called the “$1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill.” For true-blue conservatives, the brazen middle-finger thrust rudely into their faces by McConnell and seventeen other Senate go-alongs should be an act of war. Political war, that is.

The highest number of fatalities is in New York state, where 17 people have died in the wake of a massive snowstorm, according to New York Gov. Kathy Hochul. In the middle of this wintery devastation, certain individuals decided this was an opportunity to destroy local businesses by looting them. At approximately 1730 EST, reports began to emerge in local media of looting incidents in Buffalo, NY, where residents are becoming desperate after three days of intense snowfall and cold temperatures. New York State Police confirmed the looting incidents.

The Dow Jones Media Titans index, which tracks the performance of 30 of the world’s biggest media companies, shed 40 percent this year, with its total market value declining from $1.35 trillion to $808 billion, according to a Financial Times report. The losses outpaced indices for other sectors, including banking, which saw a 14.5 percent drop for the year, and telecommunications, which fell by 11.2 percent.
