UNITED STATES – Reports indicate that the Department of Justice (DOJ) is looking to expand the use of a current program to give early release to women who have been abused while incarcerated. Monaco began to urge top officials at the Bureau of Prisons (BOP), a divisions of the DOJ, to create a list of inmates who have been assaulted by prison staff and who may qualify for the department’s underutilized Compassionate Release Program.
