Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom of California warned Monday that President Biden's plan to reverse former President Donald Trump's border policies could "break" his state. The Biden administration is planning to lift the Trump-era Title 42 policy, which allows police and border officers to expedite the expulsion of illegal immigrants. Newsom, speaking to ABC News on Monday, said, "The fact is, what we’ve got right now is not working and is about to break in a post-42 world unless we take some responsibility and ownership." "I'm saying that as a father," the governor added. "I'm saying that as someone that feels responsible for being part of the solution and

Re #1, nice try, but all of the millions of Californians did not bring this on themselves. That is a mindless meme that may make those in the flat square states feel righteous, but it is grossly innacurate. G o to the CA Secretary of States’s website and have a look at the regtistered voter statistics. There are more Republican voters in California than there are total voters in many states.combined. 5,018,332 Republicans. Unfortunately there are more than 9 million registered Democrats. No point throwing stones at all Californians. Get it? https://elections.cdn.sos.ca.gov/ror/123day-gen-2020/historical-reg-stats.pdf

Oh, give it a rest, Grusom. You've gone out of your way to make our state a haven for illegals, deliberately and with malice aforethought. Whatever could have prompted this astonishing reversal? Your decision to run for president, perhaps? Trying to reposition yourself as part of the solution to runaway illegal immigration is laughable. YOU have been very much a part of the problem and you're a fool to think voters in other states won't recognize that.

If he has any rationality in his thinking, he will get his fellow Dem Governors together and beg Biden to stop the invasion; and team up with the other border States as well as all those States which have been suffocating under the insane burden and demand that the Laws of the land be upheld. Or maybe old man Biden is not capable... maybe he's unfit... maybe it's deliberate because his foreign pals need the USA further weakened... he's either incompetent or evil. maybe both. yes, both.

That way, the feds will be more sympathetic towards California when Newsom fires up the private jet and goes to Washington to DEMAND that the fed GIVE HIM YOUR MONEY to 'save' California. The feds will eventually buckle, fire up another shift for the printing presses and print ever how many quadrillion dollars that ol' Newsom needs, thereby FURTHER BURYING this country. Gov. Greg Abbott, R-Texas, ripped into the media after a veteran ABC journalist suggested Republicans' rhetoric is partially to blame for the crisis at the southern border. Abbott responded Tuesday to a clip from his interview with Martha Raddatz after she said she had never heard President Biden use the term "open border" while instead recounting such rhetoric from Abbott, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, and former President Donald Trump. Abbott told "Jesse Watters Primetime" that Raddatz's claim that such messaging "reverberates in Mexico and beyond" while being acted upon by cartel smugglers is simply untrue. "It's just crazy to suggest anything like that," he said.

The midterm elections were closer than expected with Republicans seizing a slim majority in the House of Representatives and Democrats retaining narrow Senate control. That presents an opportunity for the GOP if it plays it right. Although the widely anticipated “red wave” didn’t materialize, the political and economic situation is the same. The Biden administration has no effective plans to address record inflation or improve the economic outlook. Those fundamentals will continue to plague Biden and Washington Democrats, who appear to want to continue their progressive policies. The shift in House control provides an opportunity for the business community and the House GOP to work together to chart a new course.

The story of Elon Musk's acquisition, transformation and public rehabilitation of Twitter is nothing short of remarkable. Here is that rarest of confluences: A right-leaning (or at least right-sympathetic) mega-billionaire privately acquires a disproportionately influential public company out of genuine public-spiritedness, perhaps even a hint of noblesse oblige, and an earnest commitment to preserving open discourse in our modern digital public square; exposes grievous previous company wrongs for the whole world to see in a dramatic unveiling of the eponymous "Twitter Files"; and makes decisive personnel decisions to toss out core leaders of the wretched and corrupt old regime, and begins to chart a promising new path forward.

This week’s Twitter Files revelations are the most disturbing yet. They show how the employees of this private company, not voted for by a single American, conspired to censor the democratically elected president of the United States. It was nothing short of corporate tyranny, a sinister assault on public life by social media suits most people had never heard of. It should be front page news. The newest report is written by Bari Weiss, who examines the decision-making process behind Twitter’s banishment of Donald Trump in January last year, a couple of days after the January 6 riot on Capitol Hill. Republican lawmakers will take control of the House of Representatives on Jan. 3. That means that, among many other things, they will take control of the House's investigative committees and subcommittees. GOP leaders have already said they plan to probe the Biden administration's disastrous policy on the U.S.-Mexico border, the disastrous withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan, the disastrous failure to stop the flow of fentanyl into the U.S., and more. There is clearly a lot to investigate. But the topic that will receive the most attention in the media and the political conversation will be the investigation into the business dealings of the Biden family

President Joe Biden doesn’t answer many questions without his handler-approved list of reporters. So when he does occasionally go rogue, you can rest assured his answers are coming from the heart. Last week, when Fox News reporter Peter Doocy — or as Joe likes to call him, the “one-horse pony” — asked the president why he didn’t plan on visiting the border during his trip to Arizona, Joe had a rare moment of honesty. “There are more important things going on,” he shouted on the White House South Lawn. Their response to Taibbi’s release of the Twitter Files, which details the company’s calculated suppression of a major news story in the run-up to the 2020 presidential election, underscores this exceedingly low estimation of its audience. Outlets like MSNBC and the New York Times seem to hope the American public is ignorant of the fact that they got every aspect of the Hunter Biden laptop story wrong from the start.

Mitch McConnell has a 33 percent approval rating, the lowest in the US Senate and yet he was reelected as GOP Leader with 37 votes to 10 votes for Senator Scott. The Senate Republicans REALLY, really hate their base. The bill gives another $44.9 billion to Ukraine — where it disappears into the ether. The bill also makes it impossible for Americans to challenge a stolen election.

Trust me, I don’t like to be the one to bring you this news. I am a wine enthusiast, and as a former server, I pride myself on knowing my way around a liquor cabinet or bar. And once in a while, I like to unwind with a nice drink. Personally, I enjoy a smoky, peaty, single malt scotch as my beverage of choice. Maybe with a rock or two, or neat. Either way, it can make for a satisfying nightcap. Of course, everyone has their favorite drink, and if you prefer something else, it is not my place to judge. And this is the 21st Century and no one

Most Americans know something has gone terribly wrong—and very abruptly—with the United States. They are certain that our wounds are almost all self-inflicted. The current pathologies are not a result of a natural disaster, an exhaustion of natural resources, plagues, or an existential war. Crushing national debt and annual deficits, spiraling food and fuel costs amid “normal” seven-percent-plus annual inflation, bread-and-circuses entitlements, a nonexistent border, a resurgence of racial tribalism, pandemic violent criminality, and humiliation abroad—all these pathologies are easily cited as symptoms of a sick patient. Our crises are not as the Left maintains

In a press conference on Tuesday afternoon in the U.S. Capitol, Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky was talking about priorities for the United States as lawmakers rush to pass a $1.7 trillion omnibus bill.  According to Leader McConnell — who said he was speaking for "most Republicans" — the "number one priority" for the United States is not any of the pressing domestic issues plaguing Americans as a result of President Joe Biden and his administration. No, McConnell said that "providing assistance for Ukrainians to defeat the Russians is the number one priority for the United States right now, according to most Republicans." Really?

Outgoing Rep. Liz Cheney, one of two Republican members of the House select committee investigating last year’s Capitol riot, slammed former President Donald Trump on Monday as “unfit for any office” in her statement kicking off the panel’s final public meeting. Cheney (R-Wyo.), 56, chronicled the peaceful transfer of power in America from the time of George Washington on, remarking that all presidents have honored that tradition “except one.” She went on to say that among the “most shameful” of the committee’s findings
Why Do Liberals Hate Trump So Much? 29 replies

The question in the title needs, I believe, critical examination. Why DOES the Left hate Trump so much? The answer, as usual, can largely be found by analyzing history. But first. Do they hate him because the average price of a gallon of gas in his administration was far lower than under Biden? Is it because inflation was low (around 2%) and trending downward? Is it that the USA was energy independent and didn’t need to beg our enemies for oil, deplete our strategic oil reserve or sell it to China? Is it because black and Hispanic unemployment was lower than at any time in history?

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Monday issued a terse response to the House Jan. 6 select committee’s decision to refer criminal charges against former President Trump to the Justice Department. “The entire nation knows who is responsible for that day. Beyond that, I don’t have any immediate observations,” McConnell said in a statement reacting to the House panel voting to refer four criminal charges against Trump to prosecutors in connection to his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.

You’ll notice a striking difference between election news coverage now and the leadup to the 2016 presidential primaries: The mainstream media have hardly breathed a word about Donald Trump (except to say that he’s not doing well in their “polls” and so obviously voters must want him out of the race). Back when Trump was making his run for the nomination in 2015, the newspapers couldn’t keep him off their front pages. He got hours of coverage on every news network every day.  CORRECTION*

Harvard Law School Professor Alan Dershowitz denounced the Jan. 6 committee as a “kangaroo court” that produced a worthless report that should be “thrown in the wastebasket.” In an interview Monday evening on Newsmax TV, the eminent lawyer said that “not only is [the Justice Department] not obligated to do anything, it is obligated not to do anything” in response to the panel’s recommendations Monday that former President Donald Trump be prosecuted. According to Mr. Dershowitz, the panel operated against the spirit of one of only two civil-liberties provisions in the original Constitution,
