New York is poised to become the sixth state to legalize ‘human composting’ — which sees people turned into soil.
For $7,000, bodies are decomposed in 'coffins' for two months before the resulting soil is handed to loved ones to sprinkle over rose patches, trees or a nature reserve.
It has already been legalized in California, Colorado, Oregon, Vermont and Washington, with more than 200 Americans opting for the process to date.
And the latest eco-craze is surging in popularity with the center pioneering human composting — Recompose — tripling in size in just two years. They now have 1,200 people on the ‘waiting’ list.

If they were really, really, really sure I was dead. But that goes for the other options as well...

Wouldn't it be a lot cheaper just to put the body through a wood chipper? The result would be pretty much the same. These people are nuts.

Will there be labels on produce declaring them Human Compost Free like the no GMO labels? Wouldn't this be really problematic for vegans?

If you bury a non-embalmed body in the ground, it will turn into compost for free. I'll bet the chemicals and containers used to decompose the body cost a lot more and are manufactured using fossil fuel processes. Those damn tree huggers are polluting the planet. Stop them now!!!

Remember the movie, Soylent Green, 1973 vintage starring Charleton Heston for you younger L-Dotters? Well, it is here for real. Welcome to the Great Reset, folks, unless we stop this. Now you know what Klaus has up his sleeve.

THIRTY DAYS? That's all it takes? I call BS, scam, hoax, fraud. Just 30 days for a skull or a pelvis to turn into dirt, when archeologists are finding 1000 year old non-fossilized human bones? How does the use of a cremulator (a device used to grind bone fragments that remain after cremation into fine powder) qualify as "composting"?

Just because these remains are cremated it doesn't mean that there are nor poisonious metals in the ashes. Sounds like a noble cause but they need to study this.

I won't lie, I usually find anything the eco-nuts do as verging on crazy.
But this is the first thing they have done in forever that I honestly don't have a problem with (other than the obscene price).
I am planning on being cremated, so this isn't really all that far from this. But I would rather they give my composted remains to the National Park Service than to my family.
Oh well, I guess I'm never all the shocked anymore at my age.

My local undertaker (who says he can give me a 'hot smoking body') has biodegradable cremains holders. One was a turtle (I think). The cremains are put inside and the family (etc) can float it in a lake, river, ocean. The turtle floats and disintegrates. I guess the cremains become fish food.
Cost is way less.

A short cut would be to bury the bodies of annoying leftists in your back yard. It's not murder, officer, it's composting.

"Dust to dust." Just faster than other methods of body decomposition.
I, on the other hand, want my remains sent to one of the Body Farms, where I'll contribute to scientific knowledge and my bones will become part of a anthropologic study collection. And no mortuary and funeral fees.
