I always thought those conspiracy theories about FDR's involvement in letting the whole thing happen were just that - conspiracal [sic] bunk. But knowing now what I've recently learned about what behind-the-scenes nefarious activity our government is capable of, I'm not so sure anymore.

A blast hit an airbase inside Russia on Tuesday, the latest in a series of apparent Ukrainian drone attacks that showcase an ability to strike at the heart of Russian territory and suggest a new boldness in Kyiv's fight against Moscow's war. (Snip) Ukraine has not directly claimed responsibility, but officials have jokingly suggested its military may be behind the incidents. Russia’s defense ministry blamed Kyiv’s forces for the two blasts Monday, in which it said three “maintenance personnel” died and two planes were damaged. California lawmakers on Monday introduced legislation to penalize oil companies for alleged price gouging, setting up a showdown with an industry that has long wielded political influence in the Golden State. At the urging of Gov. Gavin Newsom, California Senate Budget Chair Nancy Skinner, D-Berkeley, proposed a new bill that would levy a penalty on oil companies when their profits exceeded a legally-established threshold. The money raised by the penalty would then be placed in a fund that would be directed back to taxpayers in the form of rebates. But the initial bill language is vague, failing to define the

Quebec Premier Francois Legault, concerned about the decline of the French language in the Canadian province, has set a new goal for immigrants: They should all speak French. Legault’s nationalist Coalition Avenir Quebec party was re-elected with a huge majority in October, partly on a platform of protecting French as the dominant language in the province of 8.7 million people. His speech to the legislature Wednesday laid out his priorities for his second term, including a plan to bar almost all economic immigrants who don’t speak French by 2026. “The objective is to stop the decline of French, in particular

A previously proposed New York measure called for creating a commission to study the impact of slavery and providing reparations but failed to pass the legislature. And the latest eco-craze is surging in popularity with the center pioneering human composting — Recompose — tripling in size in just two years. They now have 1,200 people on the ‘waiting’ list.
