Several top conservatives are warning that if House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy, the Republican nominee for Speaker of the House, does not win the speakership election on the floor of the House on Jan. 3, 2023, a “doomsday scenario” could emerge where Democrats undercut GOP power.
In such a scenario, concerns are rising that so-called moderate—or establishment Republicans—are willing to band together to make a deal with the Democrats to elect a moderate Republican as speaker with Democrat votes in exchange for a House rules change that hands the incoming Democrat minority significant power over how subpoenas can be issued.

Translation: If RINO'S lose the speakership they will gladly side with the radicals on the left to sabotage conservative efforts to beat back leviathan. Way to expose your own agenda, guys and gals! Brilliant!

This is what happens when you fail to prosecute and blow a guaranteed election cycle. Leave it to the GOP to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

FTA: "McCarthy has been facing criticism from some House conservatives like Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), Andy Biggs (R-AZ), Bob Good (R-VA), Ralph Norman (R-SC), and Matt Rosendale (R-MT), who have all said in some form or another that they do not intend to vote for McCarthy."
So how is this the fault of so-called RINOs?

While the verbiage appears overwrought, the fear that political disaster will ensue if McCarthy is not selected as Speaker is based on history.
In 1994 Californians put Republicans in charge of the state assembly for the first time in decades. The margin of victory was very small. When selecting the Speaker a few disgruntled Republican members colluded with the Democrats to cripple the Republican leadership. Nothing productive was done for the next two years and the Democrats retook control in the next election.
Kevin McCarthy is no ball of fire but in his leadership role has presided over Republicans gaining seats in each of the two elections. The Republicans must stick together. Select McCarthy as Speaker then enact pressure to keep him honest.

Chicken Little has been way overused in recent decades. The sky is not falling. Meanwhile someone is trying to change the word "conservative" to mean someone from the Uniparty. At best they are rinos with their hands out for bribes and power, but they are not conservatives.

I wouldn't be shocked if Nancy Pelosi gets 219 votes which would include enough Rhino votes to drag her across the finish line.

Once again, Republicans will snatch defeat from the hands of victory by not selecting McCarthy as Speaker of the House. Some Republican's would rather sabotage their future success in order to look "cooperative" and bi-partisan" by selecting a more moderate, wishy washy weak Speaker who will cave to all Democrat demands. If this occurs, we may as well have kept a Democrat majority. Republicans will be left scratching their heads wondering what went wrong.

The Republicans do not have a Leader and do not have a base. Too many Republicans in leadership positions are actively anti-Trump so forming a collective leadership under Trump at this time is not possible. Much of the Republican base supports Trump but it is not an overwhelming if at all majority. On top of that, many who adhere to Republican values (especially traditional Conservative values) do not support McCarthy or McConnell. So once again the GOP has created a huge disconnect between all those they wanted to include in the "Big Tent" not to mention they have not articulated any message that appeals to the nation as a whole in which they can take a leadership role. So the bottom line is that rather it is McCarthy or someone else the fact remains the GOP is useless.

Looks like another chance for the wimpy Republicans to cave to the leftist, progressive, and socialist Democrats has popped up, essentially giving the wimpy Republicans another opportunity to commit political suicide!

Some here just don’t get it. Whether they like it or not, McCarthy will be the Republican caucus’ nominee for Speaker. But the cultists want FPDT or some other firebrand who will not be elected, either. The alternative is who? The truth is the GOP “conservatives” have nothing but opposition. Who’s Matt Gaetz looking to nominate and ELECT Speaker, with what votes? It’s not the Republican caucus that’s screwing things up. It’s the idiots playing to the braying audience of fools cheering them on.

#6, stated: “Kevin McCarthy is no ball of fire but in his leadership role has presided over Republicans gaining seats in each of the two elections.”
There has to be more in leadership than just “gaining seats”. We have to have a well articulated strategy to get this country back on track. If all leaders do while in office is worry about the next election, they are missing the boat. Americans want meaningful solutions to the problems we face which is why the Trump agenda hit such a nerve. Finally, someone was articulating a viewpoint that matched their own. Why would we want anything less, especially when we saw just how effective and successful it was.
The problem in Washington is the contrarian Rinos. They refuse to sully themselves and actually work for the people who elected them. They are too busy paying obeisance to their corporate donors. They want it back the way it was. They liked being the country club elites, playing golf, doing lunch and dinner parties and working on the deals that could benefit them. They lapped up the prestige that came with their office and gave little thought to how to make the country better. It was all about them and they are relentless in the protection of the status quo. It is what keeps them fighting to preserve their way of life even to the detriment of the country. I won’t be surprised in the least if they work with democrats to undermine conservatives. It is who they are and why we have lost so many times.

The Speaker of the House will not be decided on the House floor. It will be decided in the Rebublican caucus. The Rebublicans are not going to blow up the party by giving Democrats a chance to put Naci back in power. All this is a make news in an otherwise newsless day.

Question for #14: How much do you think Biden/Schumer/McConnell/Pelosi/McCarthy have deposited in their offshore accounts that was intended for Ukraine? I'll bet it's a lot because none of the above-mentioned seem to desire an accounting...they prefer to keep shoveling dollars to Zelensky.

Only McCarthy can save us (/s). RINOs would have the Democrats in control rather than a MEGA candidate. Perhaps they should try rank-based voting. That works.

There's no such thing as moderate republicans.
There are marxists. They are Democrats and the fake "moderate republicans". And there are conservatives.
How many times have -you- voted for the Marxist (R) candidate?
Did you expect something different?

Democrats vote in lockstep.
Republicans don't.
Republicans have "mavericks" who tend to screw things up.
Democrats love mavericks.
